Chapter 760:
âWhy are you still eating?â Jessica said sharply. âMiss Dawson has left. Youâre here to take care of her, not to dine!â
âEven if sheâs here to look after the baby, she needs to eat,â Raymond interjected as he tended to Gabriela. He was tempted to reveal Eileenâs true identity and shock them all. Conroy offered a strained smile and commented, âMr. Brooks, youâre very thoughtful. Itâs just that Eileen is from our companyâs executive department. Weâre concerned she might not make Mr. Dawson satisfied with her work here. Her entire focus should be on the baby.â
âDo you mean I should leave the table as soon as the baby is full?â Eileen asked tentatively.
Without hesitation, Jessica replied, âOf course. Youâre here for the child. You should follow wherever the child goes!â
Eileen had nearly finished her meal anyway. Seeing Bryanâs expression darken, she subtly kicked him under the table. She then set down her utensils, stood up, and walked to the living room with Gabriela.
Despite this, Jessicaâs animosity towards Eileen persisted. Jessica could see Gabriela demonstrate her affection for Eileen by hugging her and kissing her, treating her as if she were her mother.
Determined to drive Eileen away, Jessica set down her utensils and announced, âIâm full. Enjoy your meal. Iâm going to the living room.â
She stood up and walked into the living room, pausing to watch Gabriela play by the floor-to-ceiling window. She then scanned the room, her gaze eventually landing on Eileenâs bag by the porch.
Since Eileen and Bryan had only recently moved in, there were few personal items around. A manâs briefcase and a womanâs handbag were near the door. Two down jackets and a woolen overcoat were hanging in the entryway. Bryanâs wallet was on the cabinet by the door.
New updates in gðªlηÏvâ¯ðµsâ¤com Jessica glanced at Eileen, who was deeply engaged in playing with Gabriela, before turning away and walking toward the door. The primary reason for Bryan hosting Conroy and Jessica for dinner today was to express gratitude to Conroy for assisting him in finding a place to live.
Conroy felt uneasy around Eileen, and after having his fill of food and drink, he was ready to leave. However, Jessica suddenly said, âEileen, hand over your company ID badge for now. You can retrieve it when you return to work.â
âOkay.â Eileen stood, walked to the entryway, searched her bag, and handed the ID badge to Jessica.
Jessica took the badge, squeezed it twice, and frowned, asking, âDid you put something inside?â
Eileen shook her head. âNo.â
âDonât lie,â Jessica retorted, opening the badge. âThereâs something in here.â
She then extracted a black card hidden between the layers of the ID badge. The card, a symbol of status and wealth, was not something an ordinary person would possessâespecially not someone like Eileen.
Eileen instantly recognized it as the secondary card linked to her main account. The card belonged to Bryan. Her primary card was safely in her wallet. Within seconds, she seemed to grasp the situation and met Jessicaâs gaze. âA black card?â Jessica toyed with the card, appearing astonished.
