Chapter 748:
Lenny sighed. âNot that Iâm unwilling to investigate him, just that Iâm not interested in Kinsey. Heâs married. Thereâs no point in me getting close to him.â
Eileen suddenly turned to look at her. âKinsey is married?â
âYes. He got married a few months ago and recently celebrated his babyâs one-month milestone,â Lenny answered earnestly.
âHeâs married and you still have feelings for him and are pursuing him?â Eileen asked in disbelief.
Lenny shrugged. âWhatâs wrong with that? Itâs a trend among young people. Iâm attracted to his appearance, not aiming to be with him. Itâs similar to being a fan of a movie star.â
Maybe because of the age gap, Eileen was unfamiliar with this modern phenomenon. She remained stunned by the revelation that Kinsey was married.
âKinsey got married a few months ago and the baby is already a month old?â she inquired.
Lenny did a quick calculation.
âYes, he got married less than three months ago. It happened suddenly. I wasnât here at the time, but after I arrived, I learned that many single women at the company were heartbroken. Kinsey is impressive, but his rapid marriage and the quick arrival of his child have raised doubts. Many people doubt the child is even his.â
Given the timeline, the child was likely not his. However, nowadays, premarital pregnancies were not unusual. Since Kinseyâs wife was never seen by anyone in the company, the truth remained elusive.
Eileen finished her food just as her phone buzzed. It was a message from Bryan: âLeaving?â
Start your next adventure at gαâηÏvðâsâ¤com Eileen put her phone down, returned her tray, and walked briskly out of the canteen.
To uncover the truth about Conroy, she needed to cut any apparent connections with Bryan.
She didnât look back and ignored the sound of Gabriela stirring and fussing. She forced herself to keep moving and quickened her steps.
However, while she waited for the elevator, Jessica Marshall, the young woman frequently seen with Conroy, approached her. Jessica positioned herself beside Eileen, examining her with an unrestrained gaze.
âWhere are you from?â she asked.
âOnaland,â Eileen replied.
Jessica nodded, appearing to understand something.
âThat explains why Mr. Dawson entrusted the child to you. Youâre from the same place.â
Eileen stayed quiet as she followed Jessica into the elevator. With Lenny having dashed off to take a call, Eileen found herself alone with Jessica. Noticing that Jessica was still staring at her through the reflection in the elevator wall, Eileen decided to ask.
âDo you work for the company? Whatâs your name?â
âJessica Marshall, director of the company,â Jessica responded, glancing at Eileenâs intern badge. âJust call me Miss Marshall.â
âNice to meet you, Miss Marshall,â Eileen replied.
