Chapter 738:
The woman gave Eileen a once-over and scoffed. âFor someone new, you seem to believe you know a lot here. The document is sealed. Cut the crap and just deliver it.â
Eileen nodded and replied simply, âOkay.â
Eileen believed she needed to adopt a cautious stance in the company. If any trouble arose, she would need to blame it on someone else.
Clutching the document, she rode the elevator to the top floor, pondering if she would meet Kinsey and Conroy.
What should she say if she ran into them?
The elevator doors soon slid open. Outside, Kinsey and Conroy were accompanied by a man wearing glasses.
Eileen hadnât prepared what to say to them.
âMr. Yates.â Conroy was the first to realize what was happening. He stepped aside, turned, and called out to the man behind him.
The man seemed taken aback for a moment before finally realizing the situation. âWho are you? What are you doing here?â the man inquired, looking at Eileen.
Eileen quickly explained, âIâm a new employee. Iâm here to deliver a document for a colleague in the executive department.â
The man, Quinton Yates, gave her a cold look and gestured to Conroy.
âTake it. Iâll be waiting for you in the parking lot downstairs.â
With that, Quinton disappeared into the CEOâs private elevator. The air was thick with tension as Eileen, Conroy, and Kinsey exchanged glances.
Updates loaded now at gαâηÏνeâsâ¤com Breaking the silence, Eileen said, âYou work here too? What a coincidence! Todayâs my first day at the company.â
Kinseyâs expression darkened. âDidnât your aunt mention you were only staying in the city for a couple of days?â
As the elevator doors were about to close, Eileen stepped out to speak to them in a secluded corner.
âGrandmaâs health isnât good. How could I just leave? Besides, it breaks my heart to see you struggling so hard to support the family. I pretended I was in the city for fun, but really, I came to find a job and help with the household expenses.â
Kinsey glanced at Conroy and then asked Eileen, âWhatâs your monthly salary?â
âTwo thousand five hundred in total. Iâve found a really cheap place to rent here. I can manage to save a thousand dollars a month,â Eileen replied, counting on her fingers.
âA thousand?â
Kinseyâs mouth twitched involuntarily at the figure. That amount was not enough to cover anything.
Conroy sighed, his frown deepening. âA thousand is not much. You should go back and stay with Grandma.â
He couldnât tell Eileen to return to Onaland outright, but he could suggest she leave the company.
âNo,â Eileen declared with serious determination. âIâm still young. If thereâs a chance for me to earn, I need to support our family. If you think my income is insufficient, maybe I should move into your place. That way, I can save on rent.â
