Chapter 720:
Both Gianna and Conroy had been certain that Eileen was from their family the moment they set eyes on her. This heightened Eileenâs curiosity about her resemblance to her mother.
As Eileen silently lamented that she would never meet her mother, Gianna returned.
âConroy, are you still heading to work? If not, we could go home together. If you are, Iâll take Eileen home myself,â Gianna said.
Conroy discarded the swab, rolled down his sleeve, and replied, âI need to go to work. You two go ahead and get settled at home. Weâll all have dinner together when I return with Kinsey.â Then, he turned to Eileen and added, âShe should stay in the room her mother used before she married.â
âAlright, Iâve arranged everything,â Gianna assured, waving to Conroy before departing with Eileen.
As they drove through Alverton, Eileen started to feel drowsy, and Gianna suggested she sleep. Eileen slept until six in the evening, when the car finally stopped in front of a large mansion.
In the vast grasslands of Alverton, most herdsmen lived in yurts. However, a few noble families chose to construct their villas amid the wilderness.
The sky was still bright at six oâclock.
Gianna woke Eileen, and they both exited the car to enter the house.
âThis mansion has been in our family for generations. Now, the Vazquez family has nearly nothing left,â Gianna explained as they walked. âOver there is the part of the mansion where your parents lived after their marriage. I live here with Kinsey, my son, and your cousin. Your mother used to live in the same place with your grandmother.â
The large mansion was divided into four distinct sections. Each family member occupied one segment, and another part included guest rooms and a garden. Each section featured small, arched entrances leading into the yard. The rooms inside were all spacious and well-lit.
gⱯlnÏνððsâ¤com is your storytelling haven The innermost courtyard was quieter, with several servants standing by the doorway of one room. Upon spotting Gianna and Eileen approaching, they quickly nodded and greeted her.
Gianna nodded in return and led Eileen inside the room.
The room was dimly lit. Large windows outside obscured much of the orange light from the setting sun. An elderly woman with grey hair lay on the bed.
Hearing the footsteps, the old woman opened her eyes and turned her head. Her mouth quivered slightly as she caught sight of Eileen. âEileenâ¦â
Gianna gently nudged Eileen a few steps forward and said, âYour grandmother is asking for you. Go ahead.â
Eileen approached the bedside and looked at the elderly woman lying there. The womanâs hands were deeply wrinkled, and Eileen instinctively took one in her own. âGrandma?â Eileen said softly.
Just hearing that word brought tears to Leylaâs eyes.
âMy dear is back⦠Cecilia, have you seen her? Sheâs returnedâ¦â Leylaâs quivering voice was clearly audible in the quiet room. Eileen was guided by Leyla to sit on the bed, and Leyla made an effort to sit up as well.
