The unfamiliar number was from Alverton, a vast plain in the far north.

In Roderick’s opinion, the legal system should address Judie and Denise’s wrongdoings. However, if Eileen’s grandmother were to die filled with regret, that error would be beyond rectification.

Noticing Eileen’s silence, Roderick paused briefly before saying, “Eileen, while Judie’s actions were reprehensible, she did raise a legitimate concern. We’re not familiar with the other family. If you’re married, you could initially conceal your identity. However, if your real grandmother truly is nearing death, perhaps consider ensuring she doesn’t pass away with regrets.”

“I see your point,” Eileen responded. Her emotions had clouded her judgment just now. She wanted to meet her real family. The fact that her family had exhausted their resources to give Judie two million just for Eileen to visit her grandmother highlighted their deep regard for family bonds.

That was enough reason for her to meet them now and make contact. “I’ll meet your family first. Regarding my mother… you can handle that once you’re back,” Roderick advised, stepping back. He paused, then added, “Bryan can accompany you. I’m available to go with you.”

Before Eileen could reply, Bryan nodded and said, “I have time to accompany her.”

“Good, you two go together. Once you’re there, keep me posted. I’ll be ready to assist if any issues arise,” Roderick said, lowering his head, hesitating to leave, but not saying anything further.

“Don’t worry, whether I go or not, you’ll always be my brother,” Eileen said, going through her thoughts and feeling moved. Upon hearing this, Roderick looked up quickly. “And you’ll always be my sister!”

Eileen’s eyes welled up with tears. She gestured toward him. “Go back, drive carefully, and think things through before you deal with Judie’s matter. Don’t act hastily.”

His truck stood out in the villa district, and without the entry pass Eileen had secured for him, he wouldn’t have been able to come here.

Feeling a reassuring hand around her waist, Eileen turned to see Bryan guiding her back indoors.

Once they settled on the couch, she turned to him and asked, “Do you really have time to accompany me to Alverton?”

“Even if I don’t have time, I’ll make it,” Bryan assured her immediately. He took out his phone to delegate tasks to Raymond while continuing the conversation with Eileen. “Alverton is quite a distance, and it’s uncertain how long you’ll need to stay there. How could I let you travel there by yourself?” Heading to Alverton meant Eileen would need to manage numerous matters, and there was a chance she might forget about him for a while.
