Chapter 713:
âIâve had surveillance on Judie, but nothing out of the ordinary has come up,â Raymond reported.
Before Eileen could respond, her phone rang. It was a call from Roderick. She answered swiftly, and his voice came through, urgent and anxious.
âEileen, Mom has been arrested by the police. She managed to acquire the money to buy the apartment, and now theyâre accusing her of fraud. It has to be a mistakeâsheâs not capable of orchestrating this.â
Roderick, who knew Denise well, found it hard to believe.
After a brief pause, Eileen replied, âShe might not be capable on her own, but consider if thereâs someone around her who could pull this offâsomeone she would listen to without question.â
Hearing this, realization dawned on Roderick. Since Judieâs pregnancy, Denise had grown more compliant to her. They frequently whispered to each other, clearly hiding something from him.
âCalm down and talk this through. Donât frighten the child,â Eileen advised, knowing that Roderickâs silence indicated he was thinking of Judie.
Roderick ended the call abruptly, his impulsiveness surprising Eileen. After all, this was a serious issue. If it wasnât resolved, Denise could face a life sentence.
Roderick went upstairs and entered the bedroom, surprising Judie, who was cradling the baby.
âCome outside with me,â Roderick demanded, his tone more furious than usual.
Judie frowned, unwilling to comply. âIâm with the baby. Whatever it is, we can discuss it later.â

The sudden commotion caused the baby to cry, prompting the nanny to hold him and calm him down.
Roderick yanked Judie down the stairs and flung her onto the sofa.
âJudie, tell me the truth. Where did Mom get that money?â Roderick glared at her with fury, making Judie feel a bit intimidated.
Sitting upright, Judie retorted defiantly, âHow would I know? Your mom found the place and said it was two thousand dollars a month. It seemed like a good deal, so I rented it. How was I supposed to know she bought it?â
âDo you think Iâm an idiot?â Roderick shouted, his eyes blazing with anger. âIf you donât tell me, I swear Iâll kill you!â
While speaking, Roderick raised his hand, but upon seeing Judieâs trembling expression, he couldnât bring himself to hit her. Initially startled, Judie quickly regained her arrogance. Seeing that Roderick couldnât bring himself to strike her, she stood on tiptoe, pressed her head against his palm, and said, âCome on! Slap me! Roderick, youâre heartless. I just gave birth to your son, and now youâre trying to hit me! Do I deserve this? After all the tough years Iâve spent with you, now that youâre wealthy, you find a reason toâOuch!â
