Chapter 711:
As Eileen had anticipated, Bryan couldnât bear to see Gabriela cry. He quickly scooped her up, showered her with kisses, and soothed her, swiftly turning her tears into laughter.
At that moment, Raymond returned Eileenâs call. Eileen stepped away to find a quiet spot to talk.
âMs. Curtis, Iâve found out the apartment is registered under Denise Moranâs name. It was transferred to her half a month ago,â Raymond said.
Eileen asked, âWhere did Denise get the money for the apartment? Can you find out about that?â
âOur investigation revealed that a significant amount of money was sent from an international source to Denise, though we have yet to identify exactly where it came from,â Raymond paused, then murmured, âIt doesnât make sense. Roderick and his family have no known connections abroad.â
Eileen knew exactly who Roderick was acquainted with. He had started his career delivering food in Onalsnd and eventually opened a restaurant. He stayed in touch with the friends he had met during his food delivery days. He wasnât familiar with anyone outside Onalsnd or South Town, and certainly not anyone abroad.
âRoderick has no idea that the apartment was bought. This has to be connected to Judie,â Eileen said.
Considering Deniseâs age, she wouldnât be involved with foreign transactions or have the resources. But how had Judie acquired the funds?
âMonitor Judie and Denise closely. Let me know right away if there are any changes,â Eileen instructed. Being an outsider, this was the extent of what she could do.
âOf course, Ms. Curtis,â Raymond answered without hesitation.
Once she ended the call, Eileen went back to the dining room, where lunch was set and ready. Ruby, Bryan, and Gabriela were seated at the table. Ruby and Bryan were amusing the little one as they waited for Eileen. Eileen found herself mesmerized by the scene. It was something she hadnât dared to imagine in years.
gαâηÏνððsâ¤Ã§om has it all Bryanâs gaze shifted towards her abruptly. Noticing her at the doorway, he stood, gently took her hand, and guided her to a seat.
âThere will be plenty more moments like this ahead. Itâs not too late to start accepting this reality bit by bit. You donât need to dwell on this moment forever,â Bryan said, his voice steady, quickly dispelling Eileenâs melancholy.
Arching an eyebrow, Eileen said, âYou sure talk big. Even during your short lunch break, you come home to eat, just like I do.â They always felt like this was a dream, and the discomfort was noticeable whenever they were apart.
Bryan laughed softly and admitted, âYes, youâre right.â
Having won this small debate, Eileen felt more settled and began having lunch. No matter how busy Bryan was, he always made sure to come home for all three meals each day.
