Chapter 709:
Denise was about to respond sharply but paused to reconsider.
The apartment, after all, had been purchased with Eileenâs real parentsâ money in exchange for her whereabouts. It was registered under her name.
This meant that Judie was living in Eileenâs apartment and treating her harshly all the time!
However, realizing it wasnât wise to cause a scene since Roderick was unaware the apartment was purchased for this reason, Denise reluctantly held back.
âDonât think you can be arrogant just because the apartment is in your name,â Judie, seeming to read Deniseâs thoughts, sneered. âDo you really think I put the apartment under your name for your benefit? I was just covering my tracks in case Eileenâs real parents decided to investigate. If you donât want to get caught, keep quiet and listen to me!â
Denise felt a chill. âYou actually planned this! Youâre the one who did this. Youâre the one who wanted this apartmentâyouâIââ
âWhatâs the problem?â Judie cut her off. âDidnât they need to find Eileen urgently to let her see her grandmother one last time? They used up all their savings to give us the money. Their entire life savings was only two million dollars. They are poor, and Eileen wouldnât acknowledge them if she knew this. I hired someone to impersonate her to fulfill their wish. Isnât that perfect for everyone?â
Judie had taken the money and enlisted a woman, who had been a kept mistress since her youth, to impersonate Eileen and visit Eileenâs grandmother.
However, there had been a complication. Her colleague had called to say that Eileenâs grandmother was still alive and that it seemed she wouldnât be passing away anytime soon.
Judie had agreed to pay her colleague two thousand a month to keep up the act, and the woman was willing to continue playing the part.
Once Eileenâs grandmother passed away, her colleague would simply return, pretending to get married and have a family. That would effectively conclude the matter.
More content at gαâηÏνðâsâ¤cøm The more Eileen thought about it, the more she felt something was amiss. Two million dollars was no trivial sum for Roderickâs family.
She called Raymond on her way back home, requesting him to investigate who owned the apartment and the nature of the transaction involved.
By the time she ended the call, she had reached home.
She spotted Bryan and Gabriela playing in the small park.
Upon seeing Eileen approach, Gabriela waved her little arms excitedly.
From behind the black fence, Gabriela reached out, trying to touch Eileen.
After parking, Eileen leaned over the fence to give Gabriela a kiss.
Before Eileen could fully straighten up after kissing Gabriela, Bryan enveloped her in a hug and kissed her on the lips.
Gabriela watched intently, her eyes widening as she saw them kiss for a few seconds.
âNo!â she exclaimed, her teeth clenched in disapproval.
