Chapter 692:
Raymondâs brow furrowed in frustration. âItâs a common saying that when the tree falls, the monkeys scatter. Yet, for Brandon to spearhead such a maneuver, especially considering he is Bryanâs father⦠Iâ¦â He nearly cursed aloud.
âThis might be a blessing in disguise,â Eileen interjected. âLook into Brandonâs recent dealings. See who he has been associating with. Even if we donât have concrete proof yet, find that person and try to uncover evidence of Brandon bribing them.â
If they were right, Brandon would be caught red-handed, breaking commercial law. Bryan had always suspected that Brandon would hold a grudge and seek revenge, but the rapid escalation with Coen had caught him off guard. He hadnât had the time to deal with Brandon. Now that Brandon had made his move, Eileen was ready to seize this opportunity.
Raymond saw the wisdom in Eileenâs strategy. âUnderstood, Ms. Curtis. Iâll get on it immediately.â
By the afternoon, Raymond had unearthed evidence of a senior executive who had secretly been in contact with Brandon.
âGet a few people together to join the dinner tonight with me,â Eileen said. âI expect Jonathan will lay out his terms then. He canât monopolize this technology but might try to exploit any reluctance to unveil the productâs features before the launch, aiming to squeeze out some advantages.â
A single project wasnât enough to immediately jeopardize EB Group, but with Brandonâs clandestine schemes and the mounting pressure from shareholders, it was a challenge to ensure the company wouldnât suffer significantly.
Eileen knew she had to save this project unless there was no other choice.
Following Eileenâs directives without hesitation, Raymond enlisted a few bodyguards and a couple of senior executives to accompany Eileen to the dinner. At the same time, he began questioning the senior executive who had leaked the companyâs core technology, determined to gather evidence before Jonathan made his demands later in the evening.
If they managed to demonstrate that Jonathan and Brandon were involved in commercial malfeasance, Jonathan would be deterred from exposing the core technology, knowing that doing so would only exacerbate his potential penalties.
Your new favorite is gαâηÏνððsâ¤cÖ m Having coordinated these efforts on Eileenâs behalf, Raymond set out to confront the traitor, Truett Gomez, trapping him at his residence.
Truett, a 45-year-old long-term employee at Apex Group, had climbed the ranks thanks to Brandon. Surprised by Raymondâs appearance at his doorstep, Truettâs initial shock soon morphed into a smile. âRaymond, to what do I owe the pleasure?â he asked casually.
âYou know exactly why Iâm here,â Raymond replied, not bothering to wait for an invitation as he brushed past Truett to enter his house.
As he entered, he noticed a small suitcase by the door, its zipper slightly open, revealing a glimpse of something greenish inside. Truett followed him in, swiftly grabbed the suitcase, and disappeared into a bedroom, shutting the door behind him. He then returned, gesturing for Raymond to take a seat.
âRaymond, I didnât expect you to visit me today. Unfortunately, Iâm out of coffee beans, so youâll have to make do with water,â Truett said, pouring a cup of warm water and handing it to Raymond.
Raymond accepted the water and looked around curiously. âAre your wife and child not home, Mr. Gomez?â
âTheyâre on vacation abroad,â Truett replied with a faint smile.
