Chapter 681:
Overwhelmed, Eileen covered her face with her hands. Tears streamed through her fingers, and her shoulders shook with silent sobs.
âEileenâ¦â Phoebe, witnessing Eileenâs distress, felt a pang of sadness as well. She reached out and enveloped Eileen in a comforting embrace, trying to offer her some strength.
But soon, Eileen gently pulled away from Phoebeâs arms. With a strained voice and tear-filled eyes, she said, âPhoebe, please give me a few minutes.â
Though worried, Phoebe nodded and said, âIâll wait for you outside. Just call me if you need anything.â
Eileenâs brow furrowed as she gazed out the window. The darkness outside seemed to stretch out like a hand reaching for her, leaving her breathless and devoid of hope.
The few minutes Eileen had asked for were really just moments for her to vent her frustration.
As Eileen walked out of the ward, Phoebe heard her footsteps and immediately got up from the bench. She saw Eileen stand before her with resolve in her eyes.
Eileen had composed herself. Her long hair was neatly tied back, giving her a more resilient appearance. Besides the red rims around her eyes, a gauze-wrapped wound adorned her forehead.
âThis is the medicine the doctor prescribed,â Phoebe said, handing Eileen the medication Josue had given her.
Eileen accepted it with a curt nod. âIâll go find him,â she said.
It was clear to everyone that âhimâ meant Bryan.
Phoebe, Josue, and Jacob exchanged glances before trailing after Eileen.

After a moment of standing by Bryanâs bed, Eileen finally spoke up. âRegardless of whether he can hear us, I want to make our plans in front of him. Thereâs no need for us to stay here constantly to keep watch. Iâll arrange for a caregiver to look after him. You can visit when youâre free, and I wonât be coming here every day either.â
Eileen had once centered her life entirely around Bryan, but now, Gabriela was also a part of her world. Their friends, too, had their own commitments, and they couldnât remain in the hospital all the time.
No one knew the effort Eileen had put into making this decision.
Josue glanced at Bryan, his brow furrowing as he nearly lost his composure. If they were barely holding on, how could Eileen manage?
Phoebe stood behind Jacob, her tears falling quietly.
âYouâre right,â Jacob said with a forced smile, trying to lighten the mood. âIf Bryan could hear us now, it would bring him joy to hear you making this decision. When the plane crash happened, we didnât think heâd make it back. Now, itâs not worse than that.â
âYes,â Eileen replied with a strained smile. She took a deep breath, sat down beside Bryan, and gently warmed his cold hands. âBryan, did you hear what I said? Weâll return to our daily routines from now on.â
