Chapter 677:
No matter what, she was determined to wait until Bryan woke up.
Yet, after an entire day had passed, Bryan remained unconscious.
Noticing Eileen still by Bryanâs side, Josue said, âItâs already seven in the evening. Go home and take care of Gabriela. Iâll handle things here.â
Eileen lifted her head, realizing it was dark outside and that Gabriela was still waiting for her at home.
âBryan, we still have Gabriela. You promised to take me traveling around the world. You canât break that promise.â
Eileen, typically composed, struggled to maintain her calm in that moment. What would she and Gabriela do if Bryan never woke up?
Josueâs expression grew somber as he witnessed her distress. He handed Eileen a tissue and said, âEven though the doctor canât give you a definite answer, this isnât the worst outcome. At least heâs alive, and his body is responding normally after the antidote. Bryan just hasnât woken up yet.â
In this situation, their only option was to continue waiting.
Eileen wanted to say something but found herself at a loss for words. After a brief pause, Josue added, âAfter the injection, his body is immobile and he remains asleep. It might be part of the absorption process, with his brain still active. Eileen, he wouldnât want to see you like this. Go back to Gabriela and get some rest.â
Josue knew that Eileen was Bryanâs most cherished person, and seeing her in this state would break Bryanâs heart. If Bryanâs mind remained alert and he experienced any distress or complications, it would only make things harder. Moreover, Josue didnât want to witness her breakdown.
With every word Josue spoke, Eileenâs sadness deepened. In an instant, her heart felt as though it were pierced by a thousand blades.
She slowly approached Bryan and whispered in his ear, âBryan, Iâm going home to Gabriela now. Iâll visit you again tomorrow. You must be okay. Iâll be waiting for you to wake up and keep your promise. Please donât disappoint me.â

She then placed the wedding ring Bryan had asked Josue to give her into Bryanâs hand.
Seeing the sorrow etched on Eileenâs face, Josue sighed deeply. He felt sorry for both Eileen and Bryan. He prayed that fate wouldnât be cruel to them.
âAllow me to escort you out,â Josue said, stopping his train of thought.
Eileen shook her head, managing a small smile as she replied, âNo need for that. Take care of him. Iâm heading out.â
With that, she turned and walked away.
At the moment she turned, Bryanâs hand twitched slightlyâ¦
Less than forty minutes later, Eileen arrived back home from the hospital.
Noticing that Eileen had returned by herself, Ruby frowned and asked, âDidnât Bryan come back with you?â
