Chapter 670:
Meanwhile, Eileenâs wedding night had been nothing like she had imagined. The way she woke up the next day was unexpected. She was awakened by a loud quarrel from downstairs. Among the commotion, she recognized the raised voices of Denise and Judie.
She bolted out of bed and hurried downstairs, just in time to see Denise and Judie forcing their way upstairs. Ruby was trying to hold them back but got shoved by Denise. She was pushed down to sit on the stairs.
âWhat the hell are you doing?â Bryan, looking as if heâd been roused from a deep sleep, had bloodshot eyes. The icy authority in his voice startled Denise and Judie, causing them to step back instinctively.
Eileen rushed to Rubyâs side, helping her up. âMom, are you okay? Did you get hurt?â
âIâm fine,â Ruby replied, waving her hand dismissively. âI have no idea how they got in. They just barged in, demanding money to buy a house.â
Judie, one hand cradling her pregnant belly, said, âEileen, Iâm here for whatâs rightfully ours! Iâm due in a few months. How could you let Roderick use our family savings as a wedding gift? Thatâs hundreds of thousands he earned bit by bit!â
Denise rolled up her sleeves and placed her hands on her hips. âYouâre sitting on a pile of cash, yet you havenât bought me a house or helped Roderick with anything. How dare you accept money from him? If you donât give it back today, weâre not leaving!â
Roderick had attended the wedding as well and stayed close to Eileen throughout the event. Whenever Eileen had a free moment, Roderick would hurry over to speak with her. When he saw someone approaching Eileen, he would quickly step away. Despite the small number of guests, the event had been complex, and Eileen had been too busy to engage in lengthy conversations with him.
Seeing Judie and Denise demanding the money back, Eileen now realized that Roderick might not have informed Judie about the funds. Eileen believed that, even though she was not related to Roderick, she could not accept the money without Judieâs approval.
âIâll return the bank card to Roderick,â Eileen told Judie.
Judie replied, irritated, âIâm here now. Why do you still want to give it to him? The money belongs to both of us. You should hand it over to me now.â

âThereâs no need for you to argue with Roderick about this. He gave me the money because of our relationship,â Eileen explained.
âExactly. You two have a closer relationship than we do. Iâm pregnant, and he didnât buy me a house but gave all the money to you. I regret marrying him,â Judie said sharply as she took the card back.
Denise whispered, âGo home, and if thereâs any money on this cardâ¦â
âNow that Iâve handed the money to you, you can leave now,â Eileen said.
