Chapter 667:
The call was answered immediately, and Christosâs voice came through. âEileen, why are you calling me so late? Arenât you worried your fiancé will be upset if he finds out about this?â
âCut the crap. What are you trying to do?â The veins on Eileenâs forehead bulged. She had run out of patience with Christos. If he had been there in person, she might have struck him.
âEileen, youâre being too aggressive. Have you forgotten that I helped you steal those items from Brandon? How can you treat me like this?â Christos said.
âEnough!â Eileen raised her voice. âThis is about saving a life. I donât want to waste time with your games. You helped once, and I will repay that favor. You and Coen are not the same. I donât hold a son responsible for his fatherâs debts. But if youâre truly a good person, give me the antidote directly. If not, donât test my patience.â Her voice was icy.
There was a brief silence on the other end before Christos spoke in a normal tone. âI mean it. As long as you donât marry him, Iââ
Eileen didnât wait for him to finish. She hung up the phone, turned, and walked back to her room.
Eileen knew people like Christos were unpredictable. His intentions could shift at any moment, and it seemed like he was just toying with her.
Similarly, Denise had claimed she would sever ties with her if she received a house, but there was still a chance she could cause further trouble and continue to entangle herself with her.
Eileen was determined to marry Bryan.
The moonlight cast a soft glow over the dark night.
Eileen lay in bed but remained awake throughout the night. Around five in the morning, the makeup artist arrived, and Eileen went downstairs to get ready.
About an hour later, Eileen donned her wedding dress. Her long black hair was styled elegantly, and her makeup accentuated her stunning features.
Gabriela, too, was dressed in a white gown, chosen by both Eileen and Bryan. Usually quiet and reserved, Gabriela clung to Eileen today and wouldnât let go. She reacted defensively to anyone who approached, refusing to let anyone touch her.
When Bryan arrived, the crowd parted for him as he walked toward Eileen and Gabriela, holding a bouquet in hand. He smiled warmly at them.
As Bryan extended the flowers to Eileen, Gabriela suddenly screamed. She stood on Eileenâs legs, shielding her with both hands, looking at Bryan.
Bryanâs smile froze in place.
The room fell into an awkward silence.
Everyone knew about Bryanâs mobility issues, so pranks were off-limits. Yet, no one had anticipated that the dayâs troublemaker would be the typically angelic Gabriela.
Josue snickered and said, âYou make my goddaughter cry, and youâll have the whole room to answer to.â
Bryan scanned the room, seeing everyoneâs protective gaze on Gabriela. Eileen, especially, let Gabriela cling to her without a word, watching Bryan with a playful glint in her eye.
