Chapter 665:
Eileen turned and patted the quilt. âBailee made this. Letâs take it upstairs and put it on the bed.â
âSure.â Bryan gave Bailee and Ruby a nod and then followed Eileen upstairs.
Once they were in the bedroom, Eileen opened the bag containing the quilt and asked, âHas Christos made any moves? Can we secure the antidote from him?â
âWhy are you so eager to know? Are you just looking for an excuse to come upstairs?â Bryan teased as he held the quilt.
Eileen set the quilt aside and noticed the look in Bryanâs eyes. She knew he wouldnât let the subject go unless he addressed it.
So, he sat on the edge of the bed, pulled her near, and clasped her legs with his knees. âYouâre so direct. Arenât you worried that the answer might be thereâs no antidote, and that could disappoint you?â
But Eileen was not afraid. Was there anything more disheartening than Bryan being dead?
In those few months, she had endured the darkest and most agonizing times.
âDisappointed about what?â Eileen placed her hands on his shoulders and gazed at him. âIf thereâs no antidote, Iâve already planned out which cemetery, funeral home, and crematorium weâd use for you.â
Bryan was momentarily lost for words.
He was certain that the woman before him was the one he cherished the most. If he hadnât seen the concealed sorrow in Eileenâs eyes, he might have laughed it off.
âChristos has the antidote. Jacob and Josue have already sent people to retrieve it. But the drug is experimental, so the antidote might not be guaranteed to work,â Bryan said.

Bryan frowned and glanced at his legs. Then, he looked up and asked, âDo you only want to save my life? Have you thought about anything else?â
What if he ended up bedridden and unresponsive, only able to hear and sense things around him? Was this what she considered saving his life?
Realizing Bryanâs thoughts were taking a grim turn, Eileen pinched his chin and gently tapped his forehead.
âWhen will you get the antidote back?â she asked.
âThat depends on when they can handle that aggressive mastiff,â Bryan replied.
Eileen was confused. âWhat?â
Bryan was frustrated by Christosâ schemes. He didnât want Eileen to be concerned about him, so he stood up to straighten the quilt and subtly changed the subject.
âWhat were you doing outside just now? You seem upset,â he said.
Eileen had tried to hide her feelings, but Bryan could easily see through her.
Eileen didnât reveal everything. âI went to meet Denise. Nothing positive ever happens when I meet her. How could I feel happy?â
