Chapter 662:
Ruby watched Eileen, a sense of relief in her eyes. Eileen seemed to be coping with the news about her origins better than Ruby had expected.
At Josueâs house, Kylie was busy arranging a blind date for him. Bryan and Jacob were also there.
Bryan lounged on the soft couch, arms folded, observing as Josue and Jacob struggled with the setup.
âThis is ridiculously high-tech. Are you sure Christos didnât give us some kind of adult film by mistake?â Jacob said, frowning at the strangely shaped USB drive. He was visibly frustrated, having spent a long time trying to connect it to the projector.
Josue, crouched next to the projector, kept trying to insert the USB. âEven if itâs adult content, we have to watch it to find out. Weâre stuck with what weâve got for now.â
Jacob said, âBryan knew Christos would stir up trouble after learning about the wedding. Are you sure this isnât a trick?â
âYouâre right, alright?â Josue snapped. He grabbed the USB drive from Jacobâs hand and tried to insert it into the slot again. âYouâve been buttering up Bryan real good. Do you know how much he exploited me while abroad?â
As Josue grumbled, the TV suddenly crackled to life.
He paused, bewildered, and looked up to see the fileâs contents appearing on the screen.
âIt turns out to be a wireless sensor. We donât even need to plug it in!â Josue exclaimed.
The projector had detected the sensor as soon as Josue placed the USB down.
Jacob rolled his eyes. âWhat have you even got for Bryan to exploit? Youâre so dumb!â
Josue resisted the urge to throw Jacob out and instead pulled him to the sofa to watch what was on the USB drive. They successfully accessed the content, which turned out to be a video.
In a dimly lit room, Christos was seated on a chair. He adjusted the camera and greeted them with a wave and a smile.
âHi, my dear friend. Long time no see,â Christos said, his eyes twinkling with joy as if he were enjoying life.
âHeâs so shameless!â Josue spat, his voice filled with disgust.
On the screen, Christos continued speaking. âYou should have figured out by now that the last drug in your body was my doing. The people you abducted are just a bunch of nobodies. The real essential item is here with me.â
He held up a vial. After giving it a couple of shakes, the clear liquid inside bubbled.
âIf I tell you this is the antidote, would you believe me?â Christos laughed loudly, his tone teasing.
Josue narrowed his eyes, his emotions almost getting the better of him. He nearly stood up.
