Chapter 640:
As Eileen spoke, a flood of emotions overtook her. She had never imagined that the past would feel better than the future.
Ruby, sobbing, said, âItâs all my fault! If I hadnât been sick, you wouldnât have gotten involved with him. You might have married someone ordinary, and although you wouldnât be as wealthy, youâd have had a simple, happy life.â
Eileen shook her head. She couldnât bear the thought of life without Bryan. âI canât imagine a life without him,â she whispered.
Ruby wiped her tears and said through sobs, âIâll do everything I can to help with the wedding. And make sure to invite Roderick and the others.â
Eileen nodded, understanding that even though she didnât want a big wedding, her close family and friends needed to be there. Despite Deniseâs behavior, Roderick was still a good brother to her.
âAlright, Iâll call Roderick,â Eileen said, though the thought of Denise made her expression darken.
At the same time, Bryan was receiving an IV drip when Josue burst into the ward, his excitement palpable. âWeâve found Lydia!â he exclaimed. âDewitt told me that Lydia and Christos have been spotted in the country!â
The exact location was unclear, but the police had been careful not to alert them and had decided to observe discreetly. However, Bryan and the others werenât concerned about being cautious. They had already sent people to search for Lydia and Christos, confident they would eventually find Christos.
Bryanâs face darkened as he spoke. âChristos is playing games with us. He wants our attention, but he wonât reveal anything even if we find him. If he has something to say, heâll come to us.â
Eileen could sense the frustration in his words. âWhat exactly is Christosâ game? Why attract our attention, only to leave us hanging?â
Bryan stared at the IV bottle as the transparent liquid slowly dripped down. After a prolonged silence, he suddenly said, âCall off the search. Once Iâm discharged from the hospital, Eileen and I will have a wedding. It wonât be extravagant, but make sure the public knows.â
He spoke each word clearly and with determination.
Josue stood there, momentarily stunned, staring at Bryan in confusion before he finally managed to say, âOkay.â
He walked away, still unsure of Bryanâs intentions.
After Josue left, Bryan called Jacob to come and pick him up. Word of his discharge quickly spread.
Ruby had prepared a feast. Phoebe arrived with her child, and even Rylie showed up. The usually quiet and spacious villa was suddenly bustling with activity, leaving Eileen surprised by the commotion surrounding Bryanâs hospital discharge.
âIs my room ready?â Bryan asked, resting his hand on the back of a chair, leaning toward Eileen. âEven though we canât have sex, we can still share a room.â
Eileen was at a loss for words.
Amid the noisy conversations around them, Bryan had whispered into Eileenâs ear. His tone was sincere, his face expressionless, but his words made her unable to meet his gaze.
She nudged him with her elbow and said, âWeâll live here just like before.â
Bryan smiled approvingly. âThatâs good. Just make sure you drink more water; I donât want you to get sick from withholding your desires.â
His words made Eileen struggle to stay calm, her brows furrowing.
