“Alright,” Eileen responded.

She then rescheduled the meeting for the following day, gathered her bag and coat, and left the company.

Shortly after, Travis sent her the location—it was in a remote suburb, several hours’ drive away.

The destination was a coffee shop, typically quiet with few patrons, and almost deserted in the evening.

As Eileen walked into the coffee shop, the rich aroma of coffee filled the air. A waiter approached her immediately.

“Good evening, are you Miss Curtis?” the waiter asked.

“Pardon me?” Eileen halted and frowned, confused.

“Miss Curtis, Mr. Dawson has reserved a room for you on the second floor. Allow me to escort you,” the waiter offered, trying to guide her upstairs.

Eileen hesitated. Had Travis realized that she had been the one texting him?

“Miss Curtis, Mr. Dawson instructed me to inform you that if you chose not to ascend, I should tell you that he is not here but has left something for you,” the waiter added, offering a reassuring smile.

Another waiter approached and spoke, “Please don’t worry, Miss Curtis. Our establishment’s priority is to serve, not to cause harm. If Mr. Dawson had ill intentions, we would not tolerate them.”

“This box is secured with a six-digit password,” the waiter explained. “Mr. Dawson asked that we remind you to handle it carefully. You have three attempts to crack the code. After the third incorrect attempt, the box will reset automatically.”

Eileen examined the box closely. Its plain appearance belied the delicate contents inside—she couldn’t afford to break it.

After a moment of thought, Eileen thanked the waiter, left the shop, and drove off in her car.

Upon arriving at the hospital with Gabriela, Eileen headed to find Josue instead of going directly to the ward.

Josue’s face lit up at the sight of Gabriela. “How about you look after Bryan tonight, and I’ll take care of your daughter?” he suggested.

“Quit daydreaming.” With her hands tucked into her pockets, Eileen allowed Josue to take Gabriela from her arms and asked, “Why is Bryan looking for Travis? What does he want from him?”

Josue paused before answering. “The drug created in Coen’s lab was a joint effort involving several people. While we’ve identified most of the drug’s components from those apprehended, one key component is still unaccounted for.”
