Chapter 608:
âIs⦠Is there anything else I can do for you?â Eileen grasped his hand from her forehead, embedding all her unspoken words and emotions into that single question.
She couldnât bear the thought of him facing everything alone, and she couldnât focus on her work with ease.
After a moment of thought, Bryan replied, âInvestigate Travis. He studied medicine abroad. Find out where he is now.â
Among their acquaintances, Zola was likely the only link to Lydia and Travis. Though Eileen hadnât seen Zola since Bryanâs accident, she knew where Zola was. Zola had sold the villa and purchased a three-bedroom apartment, living off her previous earnings in a somewhat idle manner.
Several times, Zola had waited outside Eileenâs villa but left without a word as soon as she spotted Eileen. She had clearly been curious to see how miserable Eileen would be without Bryan. At the time, although Eileen appeared untroubled, she had been deeply distressed.
Thus, aside from desperately searching for Bryan, Eileen had focused on her work. She had anticipated that Zola would try to provoke her, so she never gave her the opportunity.
âGo and find Raymond. He has uncovered something about Zola. He can assist you,â Bryan said, seemingly intuiting Eileenâs thoughts.
Eileen didnât linger. The longer she stayed, the harder it would be for her to leave. Bryan didnât stop her either. Leaning against the window, he watched her exit the ward. As the door slowly shut, he saw Josue and Jacob quickly approach Eileen.
âThatâs it?â Jacob asked. âDid you tell him you made me drunk and that there are things I didnât confess until I drank too much?â
He wasnât sure what he had revealed, but upon waking, he had suspected that Eileen had wanted to extract information from him.
However, Jacob didnât understand the situation. Eileen wouldnât inform Bryan that she knew everything, so she hadnât mentioned getting Jacob drunk to him.

If you hear anything, let me know immediately.â Eileen walked toward the elevator, pressing the button as she spoke. Before Josue and Jacob could ask anything further, she had already left.
Josue looked at Jacob and asked, âWhy didnât she cry?â
âIf she cries, both of us might end up dead,â Jacob replied, patting Josue on the shoulder. âThe stronger they appear, the longer we survive. If either of them breaks downâ¦â
It was likely because Bryan was at his limit.
Jacob believed that, although Eileen hadnât said anything about it, she likely held them responsible for concealing Bryanâs whereabouts earlier. Should the situation deteriorate, their relationship with Eileen would suffer significantly.
âEileen canât be that insensitive,â Josue said.
Jacob responded, âIs it really about being sensible? People canât always control their spontaneous emotionsâ¦â
When Eileen drove back to the company, her eyes were still red, but her black sunglasses concealed this from everyone.
On the way, she had contacted Raymond, who had forwarded her all the details he had uncovered about Zola. He had discovered the information before, but hadnât revealed it because of Bryanâs incident.
Before Zola had been adopted by the Dawson family, her life had been difficult. Her parents had favored their son over her. When Lydia adopted Zola, she had explicitly stated in the adoption contract that Zola would need to undergo a hysterectomy. To prevent Zolaâs family from causing further trouble, everything had been meticulously documented in writing.
