Chapter 595:
Josue said, âEven if he feels happy, he canât show it!â
Jacob responded, âI didnât consider that. Think of it as an automatic reaction. Whenever something involving Bryan happens, I feel compelled to inform Eileen, or something just feels offâ¦â
Their voices faded as they moved further away.
Back in the ward, Bryan was sitting on his bed. He reached for his phone on the bedside table and opened WhatsApp.
He switched to an alternate accountâone he had used to add Eileen as a friend. However, he had never messaged her from this account.
Eileen was his only contact on this account.
Just five minutes earlier, Eileen had posted a photo of Gabriela playing with Benjamin.
Seeing Gabrielaâs radiant smile made Bryanâs heart ache.
The pain was so intense that Bryan felt as if he could hardly breathe.
He couldnât remember the last time he had held Gabriela. The sensation of holding her seemed distant, and it had been ages since he had spoken to Eileen properly.
He wondered if he would ever get the chance to do those things again.
A wave of despair washed over him, yet fear had never been something he was familiar with. But now, it seemed like someone else had entered Eileenâs and Gabrielaâs lives, and they were managing just fine without him.
He had hoped for this before, yet now that it had come to pass, he felt utterly desperate.
He didnât sleep at all that night, his already somber expression growing more intense by morning.
Your source of stories: gαlnÏνÑâs.cð¸m Apart from exchanging a few words with Jacob and Josue, he remained silent.
Then, Jacob stepped out to grab breakfast but rushed back almost immediately.
âShe is coming!â Jacob burst through the door of Bryanâs ward, announcing, âEileen is coming!â
Hearing this, Bryan, who had been lying in bed, tensed up. He quickly grabbed the bedpost and pulled himself up.
By the time he sat up, Eileen had already entered the room, gifts in hand.
âEileen, you didnât have to bring anything,â Josue said cheerfully, relieved to break the gloomy atmosphere that had surrounded him and Jacob because of Bryan.
Despite his words, it was clear that Bryan was eager to see Eileen.
Eileen handed the gifts to Josue and said, âI heard Mr. Dawson was injured. As the project director, I thought it would be appropriate to bring gifts.â
Jacob was momentarily at a loss for words.
The formality of the gesture felt strange.
âIs Bryan hurt badly?â Eileen inquired nonchalantly.
âItâs just a sprain, but recovery could take a few months,â Josue replied.
Eileenâs face remained impassive. âThen he should rest. Iâve informed the company about your condition. When we build the resort, weâll ensure there are structures around the village for disaster protection. We will also help the Dury family with some home repairs.â
While Eileen spoke, both Jacob and Josue watched Bryan closely, gauging his reaction.
Clearly, Eileen was here strictly for professional reasons.
