Chapter 578:
Fortunately, Gabriela was cooperative, greeting Eileen with a smile and a hug when she was roused. She let Eileen dress her before they both went downstairs.
By the time they arrived downstairs, the doctor had already arrived. He began by inspecting the red spots on Eileenâs neck and then found similar spots on the rest of her body.
âIt appears to be an allergic reaction, likely triggered by the damp climate here,â the doctor said.
Eileen responded, âIâve lived in Wist Land before without any issues like this.â
âWist Land isnât near the sea, and here, thereâs no air conditioning to manage the humidity and the cold of winter. That definitely contributes to the problem,â the doctor explained patiently. He then prescribed an ointment for Eileen.
Eileen said gratefully, âThank you. We will need you to conduct check-ups for everyone in the village over the next few days, with a particular focus on a thorough examination for Bryan.â
The doctor immediately nodded and said, âMs. Curtis, donât worry. Mr. Dawsonâs assistant has already informed us about everything.â
Eileen accepted the ointment from the doctor and applied it to the areas she could reach. Unfortunately, she couldnât treat the itchy red spots on her back, where her hands couldnât reach.
There were a lot of people in the village, and it would take a couple of days to conduct physical examinations for everyone. Eileen spent time with Gabriela indoors and soaked up the sun at noon, avoiding visiting Bryan. The wedding decorations everywhere dampened her spirits.
Over the past few days, Gabriela had gotten used to her new surroundings. She explored in her stroller while Eileen watched her from the steps. Eileenâs white T-shirt was stained with blood from her aggravated allergy, as she couldnât apply ointment to some areas on her back.
However, she seemed unaffected by the pain. She continued to dress and undress each day, enduring the pain of her wounds tearing open again and again.
Jacob found it hard to watch. He wanted to help but felt powerless. Eventually, upon seeing Bryan, Jacob couldnât keep silent. âEileen is struggling. Sheâs allergic and canât apply ointment on her back because she canât reach the spot.â

âShe refuses to do that,â Jacob sighed. âSheâd have to undress, and Gabriela never leaves her side. She doesnât want her child around strangers.â
Eileen seemed indifferent to her own discomfort, not letting it bother her.
âThankfully, Gabriela has settled in well here, or Eileen would have been even more stressed,â Jacob said, sitting down and glancing at the object in Bryanâs hands. âHow long until itâs finished? You have your physical examination tomorrow. You could give it to Gabriela yourself then.â
The puppet was modeled after a popular cartoon character. Upon learning of Gabrielaâs visit, Bryan had started working on the puppet tirelessly. Now, he had almost completed it, only needing to work on the facial features.
âYou give it to her for me,â Bryan said as he meticulously carved the puppet, his hands nearly bleeding.
Jacob sighed heavily, saying nothing.
