Chapter 574:
âI donât want to hear the details!â Eileenâs voice was sharp with a mixture of helplessness and pain. âYou need to contact the doctor and arrange for a thorough examination of Bryan.â
Raymond quickly responded, âMs. Curtis, thatâs difficult. Mr. Dawson isnât allowing strangers near him. If a doctor approaches him for an examination, heâll refuse. Also, the Dury family is protective and wonât let us in.â
âI canât let him marry someone else!â Eileen was paralyzed with the thought of moving closer, unwilling to witness Bryan and Zelda receiving well-wishes.
The house Eileen had purchased in the village was two stories high. From the top floor, she could gaze out at the sea and watch the sunrise over the mountains. Raymond had arranged the roomâs decorations and furniture in advance, ensuring there were areas for Gabriela to play and that the security was as tight as it was in Onaland.
After returning to the house, Eileen placed Gabriela in the playpen and settled on the carpet. She watched her daughter in silence, her mind replaying memories of Bryan spending time with Gabriela.
Jacob and Josue entered, finding Eileen lost in thought. The sight was too much for them.
âNo wonder Bryan hasnât visited her or allowed us to update him on her condition,â Jacob murmured sadly. âIf we, as her friends, are this distressed for her, imagine how Bryan must feel.â
Josue watched Eileen for a moment, then turned to Jacob and whispered, âWe shouldnât cause more harm now. Do you think Eileen would feel better if we told her the truth?â
A heavy silence hung between them. They were unsure which pain was easier to bear.
âDamn it!â Josue exclaimed, punching the wall. âI should go abroad and get back at Dewitt now! If it werenât for him, we wouldnât be in this mess.â
âLetâs not dwell on that. We need to focus on the task Bryan gave us,â Jacob said, patting Josue on the shoulder. âYouâve already upset Eileen. Doing more wouldnât help. You tell her.â
Feel the magic on gαâηÏνððsâ¤com Josue shoved Jacobâs hand away, retorting, âWhat are you thinking? Do you want me banned from returning to Onaland? If I upset Eileen too much, my mother wonât let me come home!â
The two muttered in low voices, nudging each other to go first.
âYou donât have to come over here. You can just talk from there,â Eileen said, having noticed Josue and Jacob long ago from behind the carved designs of the vestibule cabinet.
Josue peeked from behind the cabinet and said, âThen Iâll start. Bryan is getting married. Jacob will tell you the rest.â
With that, Josue disappeared back behind the cabinet.
After a tense pause, Jacob gathered his courage and approached Eileen. âEileen, you canât keep waiting for him like this. Youâve even brought your child here. Have you considered what youâll do if Bryan doesnât remember you and falls for Zelda?â
âIâve never considered that,â Eileen responded firmly. âI wonât let that happen.â
