Chapter 392:
âTheyâve all given me their bids. Iâm not satisfied with the prices, so Iâll tell you my bottom line since thereâs no one else here. Letâs see if you can give me a better offerâ¦â Trenton said.
In the restroom, Dalores was retching violently, tears streaming down her face. Bent over the sink, her clothes soaked from the water splashed on the counter, she looked utterly wretched.
After what felt like an eternity, her hand slowly moved to her belly, a bitter smile tugging at her lips. âYour timing couldnât be worse,â she whispered.
Days earlier, Dalores had been about to return the card to Julio, but the waves of severe morning sickness had hit her. To hide her pregnancy, she decided not to return the card.
If she ran out of money in the future, she would use Julioâs money to raise his child. And if she ever came into money, she wouldnât spend a cent of his.
She had no desire to owe him anything.
That was why she took this job, planning to work for just a few months. But fate had other plans. Unexpectedly, she ran into Eileen.
But luckily, Eileen hadnât followed her.
Dalores vomited so violently that her vision blurred. She slid down the edge of the sink, sitting on the floor, and pulled a candy from her pocket, popping it into her mouth.
The sweet taste offered a small reprieve, and as she looked up, she suddenly saw a pair of shiny leather shoes and straight legs standing in front of her.
Dalores was shocked, her back slick with a sudden cold sweat as she quickly looked up.
Stay connected through gαâηÏνðâsâ¤com âMiss Sampson, right?â said Raymond. âMs. Curtis asked me to tell you to take care of your health.â
Feeling relieved, Dalores took a deep breath and stood up, smiling at Raymond. âThank you, I will. Are you her new assistant?â
Raymond wasnât familiar with Dalores; he might have seen her with Eileen a few times before, but he couldnât recall.
He nodded. âYes.â
He wanted to ask Dalores about her connection with Eileen, but seeing how pale her face was, he decided not to press further.
Eileen and Trenton were discussing the lowest acceptable price for the acquisition.
Even though Eileen had known Trenton for a long time, she still managed to lower his price. It was ten thousand less than what was originally planned.
However, Eileen was adept at assessing the situation. She proposed only eighteen hundred more than the highest offer made by others in the room.
