Chapter 363:
âBut I remember you saying quite clearly that you werenât fond of Gabriela.â Eileenâs gaze lifted slightly, capturing his embarrassed expression in her eyes for a fleeting moment.
âIâll explain,â Bryan said earnestly. âI had a dream where you gave birth to a baby who wasnât very attractive. Because your baby didnât look as adorable as Gabriela, you were always sad and crying.â
This revelation took Eileen aback, but for the first time, she understood the pressure parents faced when comparing their childrenâs appearances to others.
It seemed that parents were constantly in competition over their childrenâs looks, academic achievements, and talents.
âWhy didnât I see this before? Gabriela resembles you so much.â
âItâs that youâre her mother.â
Bryan leaned back on the bed, propping his head up with one hand, and gently poked Gabrielaâs fist with his injured left hand.
Gabriela stirred slightly, her tiny fingers curling around Bryanâs finger. Her red, puckered lips quivered before she fell back asleep. A broad smile spread across Bryanâs face. He glanced up at Eileen, his eyes sparkling with hope. âEven though we have a lot ahead of us, our journey as a family of three has just begun.â
Eileenâs heart skipped a beat. Last night had been their first night together as a family. Indeed, a new chapter had just started.
She suddenly lowered her head and placed her hand on her belly. âMy mother isnât around these days. You can stay here temporarily to help with meals, but itâs too late for breakfast this morning. I have an early meeting and need to get going now.â
The pasta from last night had been so unappetizing.

Eileen was at a loss for words.
Hungry and in a rush, she got up, washed her face, and changed into fresh clothes. As she descended to the first floor, Milford turned toward her, a look of concern on his face.
âEileen, I completely forgot that Gabriela was here. I didnât mean to let Bryan in.â
When Milford let Bryan in, he suddenly remembered that Gabriela was in the room with Eileen.
He considered going upstairs to check on them but hesitated, worried he might inadvertently intrude on their privacy.
As a result, he had a restless night, troubled by the thought of possibly causing trouble for Eileen.
