Chapter 1118:
Eileen was firm in her stance.
She knew that if she yielded today, Marisa might try to ask her to convince Bryan to drop the matter about Dalores.
As the tension mounted, Marisaâs gaze turned icy. Eventually, she averted her eyes.
She said, âIt appears I am outdated, and the future belongs to the younger folks. Perhaps I shouldnât meddle too much.â
With a distant smile, she continued, âI came here for you, but the items are actually for Ms. Sampson. Please give them to her. Iâll be on my way now.â
Eileen accepted the gifts, expressing her gratitude on behalf of Dalores and Emerson. âThank you for these, but really, you neednât go out of your way like this next time.â
Marisa nodded before turning to leave.
Later in the afternoon, news broke that Marisa had been dismissed from her position.
Around the same time, Eileen received an unexpected call from Keith.
It had been a while since their last communication. After a brief and somewhat awkward exchange, Eileen attempted to end the call politely.
âMr. Aston, take care. Iâll visit you after I wrap up my work,â she said.
Keith responded, âIâm not seriously hurt, but things are chaotic with the Aston family right now. Iâm sorry for the inconvenience.â
âItâs no trouble at all,â Eileen reassured him, smiling. âJust make sure to look after yourself.â
Keith suddenly asked, âAre you planning to take legal action against her for her role in abducting you?â He was referring to Kamila.

It seemed Keith hadnât expected such a question from her. After a pause, he replied, âThat decision is yours to make.â
âWould you offer any advice on that?â Eileen asked.
Keith suddenly fell silent.
After a while, Keith said, âShe made a mistake, and she should face the consequences. Act as you see fit; no need to do anything for my sake.â
âUnderstood, thank you,â Eileen responded.
Keith said, âYour mother has been in the ancestral tomb for a month, hasnât she? Remember, Alverton customs require that the tomb be cleansed after a month.â With that, he hung up.
Eileen had been discussing the matter of Dottieâs tomb with Leyla when she received the call from Keith.
After the call ended, she was just about to put her phone away when it rang again.
This call was from the Alverton police station, informing her that Mon San, before her death, had submitted crucial evidence related to Dottieâs case. They urged Eileen to visit the station soon to review the details.
âSorry, my schedule is packed these days,â Eileen replied.
