Chapter 1115:
Suddenly, Emerson was lifted from his bed. He murmured in his sleep, and the caregiverâs eyes snapped open instinctively. Shocked to see someone taking the child, she quickly sat up.
âWhat are you doing? Hey, are you going with the child?â The caregiver leapt out of bed and pursued Dalores, but Dalores ran frantically through the hospital corridors with Emerson in her arms.
Emerson in her arms, Dolores hurried through the chaos in the hospital.
Hearing the commotion, several nurses rushed to help. Dolores was compelled to flee to the top floor.
The disturbance finally roused Julio. Upon seeing the empty bed and hearing the uproar, he felt his heart sink. He sprang to his feet and hurried outside.
Dolores made her way to the roof. The wind was bitterly cold. She clutched Emerson tightly to her chest, her long black hair whipped into disarray by the wind. Tears on her cheeks glued some strands of her hair together, obscuring her face. Yet, through her tear-filled eyes, her helplessness and mental anguish were evident.
âThis is truly my child. He canât lose his mother. Even if he is sick, he is still my baby. He canât survive without me. If he canât be saved, I will die with him. But please, donât take him away from me!â Dolores cried.
Painful memories of Daloresâ childhood flooded her mind. She clutched Emerson tightly.
Emerson had been startled by her sudden emotional outbursts several times. Now, his cries rang out, veins protruding on his reddened forehead.
âHe will not leave you!â Julio emerged from the group of doctors and nurses.
Let your imagination soar with gⱯlnÏνð®âsâ¤com As Julio stepped forward, Dalores retreated, teetering on the edge of the roof.
âDonât push it, Mr. Julio,â one of the doctors said, holding him back. âSheâs not in a stable condition.â
With no choice but to retreat, Julio looked at Dalores, now merging with the night. Her blue and white hospital gown seemed to dissolve into the darkness, making her appear small against the vast sky.
âOf course, he wonât leave me. Iâll always be with him,â Dalores murmured.
âNot only you, but Iâll also be with him, too,â Julio said. His deep eyes never leaving Dalores, even as the doctor held him back.
Dalores froze, then looked at him hesitantly. âYouâll be with him? Then what about me? Will you also be with me?â
Julio nodded, extending his hand. âIâll always be with you. Iâll find someone to cure Emersonâs illness. Weâll always be togetherâ¦â
His captivating voice was carried by the wind, enveloping Dalores.
Hope flickered in her eyes as if she could see their happy future. But suddenly, a shroud of darkness descended, shattering the scenes in her mind.
Her eyes clouded over instantly. âNo, youâve left me. Iâm alone once more, but I canât abandon Emerson. I want to stay with him. Emerson, please be good. Donât cryâ¦â
Emersonâs cries tore at Daloresâ heart, reddening her eyes. She soothed him in a soft voice.
âI didnât leave you. Life in the Ferguson family was tough, and I feared you might get caught in the crossfire, so I had to make you leave. I am the one who took you from the village. I promised Iâd never leave you, and I meant every word!â Julio said.
