Chapter 1082:
Conroy had admitted his crimes completely, even without needing a court session. But now, she found herself tangled in the matters of the Aston family, which was the last thing she wanted to be involved with.
âThe guy working with Christos is the one behind all this,â Bryan said after thinking it through. âHe clearly wants you to leave Alverton.â
Eileen tilted her head, blinking in confusion. âWait, someone actually doesnât want me to leave Alverton? Is he an enemy of the Aston family? Does he want to use me to go against them?â
Sure, it made sense that someone might want her to leave quickly to take over the group. But she couldnât think of anyone who wanted her to stay in Alverton.
Eileen ran her fingers through her long hair, frowning. She released Bryan and turned to her laptop to vent her frustrations to Phoebe.
âThere are always some troublesome people trying to make things difficult for you. Your return date is looking uncertain,â Phoebe said.
âMilford is set to be released from prison. I need to get back before that happens,â Eileen sighed, feeling the weight of the situation.
âI heard about that. Thereâs still some time before heâs out, right? Make sure you hurry. If you canât make it back in time, we are still here for him,â Phoebe said. Eileen had mentioned Milfordâs release to her a few days ago.
Bailee had been prepared, setting up a room for Milford at her place and eagerly awaiting his return.
âBut Jacob went to the prison a few days ago for some business. He talked to Milford, who mentioned that his release had been postponed for a week. You donât need to rush back,â Phoebe added.

âIt happens sometimes. Prisons have their own rules, and dates can get changed,â Phoebe said. Then, with a frustrated tone, she added, âMy son is crying. I have to hang up now.â
After ending the call, Eileen got up, freshened up, and headed out.
Gabriela and Leyla were sitting patiently, waiting for Eileen. They had intentionally chosen to stay there, making sure not to disturb Eileenâs much-needed rest.
âMommy!â Gabriela exclaimed as soon as she saw Eileen. She ran over with her little arms outstretched, wrapping them around Eileenâs thighs. âGreat Grandma and I have been waiting for you!â
The sight of her daughterâs pouty face melted Eileenâs heart. She bent down, scooped Gabriela up into her arms, and playfully pinched her nose. âItâs all Mommyâs fault. I promise I wonât sleep in anymore. From now on, Iâll get up early every day to spend time with you.â
âYay!â Gabriela cheered, her face lighting up with happiness. She wrapped her tiny arms around Eileenâs neck and planted a kiss on her cheek.
Then, excited to play, she wriggled out of Eileenâs arms and dashed off, laughing and giggling as she ran around.
Eileen sat down beside Leyla. âGrandma, does the Aston family have any enemies?â
âNo,â Leyla replied firmly. âA few years ago, the Aston family went through a rough patch and endured a lot. But once Keith took over, with the strong backing of his wifeâs family, he managed to stabilize things quickly. His family regained their footing, although his wifeâs family started to decline. Keith did everything he could to support them, and he earned a good reputation for it. Heâs not one to hold grudges, either. Even those who took advantage of the Aston familyâs struggles are now working with them in some way. Keith is known as a genuinely good person.â
