Chapter 1056:
Jaliyahâs words echoed in her memory: âEileenâs ladder is nowâ¦â Why is she still after the Aston family?
Clearly, Eileen had more power than the Aston family.
It was normal for the impulsive Jaliyah to lose to Eileen.
After a momentâs contemplation, Miranda asked, âCanât I just confess directly? Why involve the police?â
âOh, but Iâve brought them here specifically to arrest you,â Eileen said. âTheyâre waiting for their reward from arresting you. Itâs quite different from turning yourself in. Theyâve chosen money over credit.â
The more arrogant Eileen looked, the more Mirandaâs irritation grew.
Miranda quickly decided to call the police. âHello, this is Miranda Wasner from Alverton Hospital. Iâm turning myself in. Jaliyah Aston isnât pregnantâI faked the report for her. But it wasnât my idea! She begged me to help!â
âMaâam, please remain calm and clarify the situation. Whatâs your current location? Iâll dispatch officers to bring you in for questioning.â A stern voice crackled through the line.
Miranda gave the police her address. Within minutes, uniformed officers arrived, slapping cold metal cuffs around her wrists. She felt momentarily dazed. When she glanced up, the so-called plainclothes officers who had been behind her had vanished without a trace.
Her eyes locked with Eileenâs, her fury blooming.
âYou tricked me!â she spat. âYou found someone to pretend to be the police! You broke the law!â
galnÏνð®âsâ¤cøm opens doors to new adventures She lunged at the nearest officer, desperation in her voice. âShe hired people to pretend to be the police! You canât let her get away with this!â
The officerâs gaze shifted to Eileen.
Before Eileen could respond, Bryanâs measured steps echoed through the room. âI arranged it,â he stated calmly. âThe suspect is cunning. While my methods wereâ¦â
âUnorthodox, they were necessary. Iâll accompany you to the station and accept whatever consequences you deem fit.â
Eileenâs breath caught. She had orchestrated this, yet Bryan shouldered the blame.
Bryanâs voluntary admission twisted the knife of guilt deeper than if she had implicated him herself. The officers, placated by Bryanâs cooperative attitude, allowed him to drive himself to the station.
Bryan cast a disgruntled look at Eileen. âArenât you accompanying me to the police station?â
âOf course,â Eileen said, stepping to his side.
In a hushed tone meant for Bryanâs ears alone, Eileen added, âI drafted a self-criticism letter. Iâll send it to you; you might need to copy it at the station.â
Bryanâs eyes narrowed. âYou knew doing this had consequences, yet you did it anyway?â
Eileen nodded. âYeah. Even though Raymondâs men vanished earlier, Iâve already asked them to write self-criticism letters to submit to the police.â
Bryan was speechless. He had instinctively taken the fall for her, not knowing her meticulous planning.
