Chapter 1043:
âEileen, did you have lunch with Jaliyah today?â Leyla asked on the phone.
âYeah, kind of. Whatâs wrong?â Eileen replied.
âThe Aston family just told me that Jaliyah had an abortion after having lunch with you. The doctor said she took abortion pills,â Leyla explained.
The implication was clearâthey believed that Eileen had slipped the pills into Jaliyahâs food during lunch.
Bryan couldnât make out Leylaâs words during the phone call. All he noticed was that Eileen seemed stunned after answering and then turned to him with a look of mixed emotions.
Rising from his seat, Bryan walked around the desk to stand beside Eileen. As soon as Eileen ended the call, he asked with concern, âWhatâs going on?â
âI feel so wronged,â Eileen murmured, hugging him. She pressed her forehead against his chest and continued, âJaliyah invited me to lunch, but now sheâs claiming she had a miscarriage. The Aston family has called Grandma, trying to blame me for it.â
Though completely innocent, she struggled to explain the situation clearly. Frustration bubbled up inside her, and she felt an intense urge to lash out at someone.
Bryan leaned back against the desk and gave her a reassuring pat on the back.
âIâll get someone on it and find out whatâs really happening,â he said.
Eileen felt like she had leaped from the frying pan into the fire. She had planned to leave Alverton in a few days, but now her departure was on hold.
What depressed her further was that the more she tried to keep her relationship with Keith under wraps, the more likely it seemed that it would be exposed given the current chaos.

In the living room, Leyla occupied the main seat, while Gabriela sat beside her, clutching a small toy in her hand. With her big, dark eyes wide open, she stared curiously at Kamila.
Perhaps because of Kamilaâs stern appearance, Gabriela didnât dare to speak.
Spotting Eileen and Bryan, Gabriela quickly leaped off her chair and dashed toward them, calling out, âMom, Dad!â
She wrapped her arms around Eileenâs legs and cast a wary glance back at Kamila. It was clear that she was a bit frightened.
Eileen lifted Gabriela and spoke soothingly to her. After sending her off with a servant to play, Eileen proceeded into the living room.
Harrell stood behind Kamila, his gaze burning with anger. It was as if his eyes could pierce through Eileen with the intensity of his fury.
âLeyla, Eileen caused the death of my daughter-in-lawâs son! I canât just let it go!â Kamila said aggressively.
Leyla snorted dismissively and replied, âYouâre telling me that Eileen caused your daughter-in-law to miscarry. Why should I believe you? You need to provide solid evidence.â
âIâll get you any evidence you need!â Harrell snapped angrily. âWhen Jaliyah had lunch with Eileen today, Eileen didnât touch her food at all. The food must have been drugged; thatâs why Eileen didnât eat anything. Our family has contacted the restaurant, and if you want proof, Iâll provide it.â
Jaliyah hadnât been pregnant in the first place, and she would have had a miscarriage report prepared by now. After all, she had to keep up the pretense to the very end.
