Chapter 1040:
Dalores managed a strained smile and replied, âI donât want to go. Iâd rather stay with Emerson.â
âThere is a caregiver here to watch over him. Letâs go downstairs; weâll return shortly,â Eileen insisted, remembering the doctorâs recommendation that staying cooped up in the room all day wasnât beneficial for Daloresâ mental health.
Without Eileenâs presence, no one else would have been able to sway Dalores.
Eventually, Dalores agreed to go downstairs with Eileen. Sitting on a park bench, she stared at the overcast sky with a look of deep contemplation. Her thoughts were a mystery to everyone around her.
âIâll be heading back to Onaland in a few days. Will you keep treating Emerson here, or will you go back to Onaland once his condition improves?â Eileen leaned against a large tree, studying Daloresâ expression closely.
Dalores swiftly turned to face Eileen. âWill Julio be going back to Onaland?â
Eileen paused for a moment, then shook her head. âIâm not sure. But if you really want to find out about that, I can ask him for you.â
Dalores frowned and remained silent for a few seconds before finally shaking her head. âNever mind. He doesnât want to see me anyway. Whether he leaves or stays, itâs all the same.â
Doesnât matter. Iâll stay here at the hospital, waiting to find a suitable marrow donor for Emerson.â
âSo, youâre giving up on the idea of having another baby to save Emerson?â Eileen asked.
More content at gαâηÏνðâsâ¤cøm âWhat choice do I have but to give up? Julio refuses to see me. Iâll be okay as long as Emerson is with me. If he dies, Iâll go with him. Weâll never be apart,â Dalores murmured as she curled up on the bench, hugging her knees.
Eileen felt a surge of panic upon hearing this. The medication might calm Dalores temporarily, but it wouldnât solve the real issues.
If she couldnât shift Daloresâ extreme mindset, Daloresâ mental health issues would remain.
Just as Eileen stood up and began to approach Dalores, she was suddenly startled by Jaliyahâs unexpected appearance. Out of breath, Jaliyah said, âEileen, I need to talk to you. Letâs grab lunch together.â
âWhat? You want me to have lunch with you?â Eileen asked, confused. âI donât have the time for that.â
Jaliyah fixed her gaze on Dalores. âEileenâs got important things to handle. Are you really that clueless to expect her to drop everything for lunch with you?â
Dalores jumped to her feet. âEileen, go ahead and take care of your business. Iâm alright. You donât need to visit me every single day.â
âNo, Iâ¦â Eileen started to say something, but Dalores had already turned and was briskly walking back into the inpatient building.
âWell, sheâs already left. Youâve got free time now, so letâs grab some lunch.â Jaliyah practically dragged Eileen out of the hospital and into a nearby restaurant. She then ordered something.
Jaliyah had offered to treat Eileen, but she didnât even let Eileen glance at the menu. She simply ordered all of her favorites.
