Chapter 1039:
âWhat are you talking about? Why do you think that?â Miranda raised an eyebrow and gave her a subtle signal.
In her panic, Jaliyah missed Mirandaâs signal. She grabbed Mirandaâs hand tightly and said, âMy rival, the daughter of my father-in-law, is causing trouble for me. Sheâs been following me on purpose. She must have found out that Iâm not pregnant after hearing my phone call just nowââ
Before she could finish, Miranda pinched her hand sharply.
Only then did Jaliyah realize that Miranda had been subtly signaling her. Glancing around, she saw Kamila seated on the sofa next to the door. Kamilaâs intense gaze made the hair on the back of Jaliyahâs neck stand on end. Jaliyah quickly let go of Mirandaâs hand and swallowed nervously, unsure of what to say.
âHow could you lie to me about that?â Kamilaâs voice was sharp with anger.
âI⦠I didnât want to do that, either. But your daughter is a mess, your son is stubborn, and youâre too worried about your image. How else could we defeat Eileen? I had no other option. Canât you see that?â Jaliyah shot back.
Kamila drew a deep breath before speaking in a cold tone. âSo this is your brilliant plan? You can fake a pregnancy, but what happens when itâs time to give birth? Are you planning to just find any child to pass off as an Aston heir?â
Knowing she was in the wrong, Jaliyah clenched her teeth and fell silent.
âMrs. Aston, when Jaliyah first came to me with this plan, I didnât think it was a good idea either. But she laid out the pros and cons. It seemed like a workable plan to get Mr. Aston to leave everything to your sonâs family. Doesnât he always want a grandson? I know itâs not ideal, but Iâve been helping Jaliyah recover her health. Maybe sheâll conceive for real soon,â Miranda said, trying to convince Kamila.

If your father finds out youâve been faking this pregnancy, heâll be even more disappointed in you and favor Eileen more.â
Jaliyah bowed her head in frustration and retorted, âIf you hadnât asked me to come to the hospital in the first place, I wouldnât have run into Eileen. Now, your son and daughter are completely ignoring the matter of Eileen, leaving me as the only oneâ¦â
Trying to come up with a solution, yet youâre blaming me for everything. I feel completely wronged.
Kamilaâs anger was overwhelming, to the point that she nearly fainted. She pinched the spot between her eyebrows and sank back onto the sofa. After a long pause, she gritted her teeth and finally said, âNo matter what we do, we wonât be able to keep this from Keith. But we canât tell him the truth either. Letâs make the first moveâmake sure to tell Keith about Eileenâs wrongdoings before she has a chance to speak to him about it.â
The moment Eileen walked into Daloresâ ward, she had a feeling that something bad was about to happen. She shook her head, trying to shake off the feeling.
Emerson had fallen asleep, and Dalores was sitting by the window, lost in a daze as she looked at the view outside. The doctor had prescribed something to calm her down and told her it was meant to help supplement her nutrition. Thanks to this, her mood had been more stable over the past few days.
âThe doctor mentioned you could go downstairs for some exercise while Emerson sleeps. Itâs not healthy to stay in the ward all day,â Eileen said, patting Dalores on the shoulder and gesturing toward the garden below. âHow about I accompany you for a walk?â
