Chapter 1027:
Eileen nodded and turned her attention to the entrance of a grand house.
Outside the door, a flowing waterfall screen greeted them, with luxury cars lined up on both sides. Eileen quickly noticed that one of the cars, bearing a government license plate, wasnât the kind that wealthy people typically owned.
It wasnât Chanaâs car, but it definitely belonged to someone of the same caliber.
âBenicio used to be a student of Alvera Lyons. I think the Brown family sent someone to bring her a gift. They wouldnât show up at an event full of business types,â Leyla commented. She noticed something and snorted, âThe Aston family is here. Take a look at them.â
Eileen followed Leylaâs gaze and instantly spotted five members of the Aston family.
At the forefront were Keith and Kamila, with Tilda and Harrell close behind. Jaliyah trailed last, looking every bit the picture of arrogance.
As Leyla stepped out of the car, she whispered to Eileen, âAlvera doesnât like Jaliyah. Jaliyahâs from a nouveau riche background. Theyâve only recently bought their way into the upper class, and they still cling to their snobbish and vulgar ways.â
Eileen gave Jaliyah a once-over. It was clear to her that Jaliyah wasnât the shrewd type. Since they had never had any conflicts before, she believed she could make friends with Jaliyah easily.
However, it seemed Kamila had said something to Jaliyah before, making Jaliyahâs hostility toward her obvious.
Gabriela led the way, with Eileen and Leyla following her into the Lyons familyâs home. The yard was bustling.
Alvera was surrounded by a crowd, making it impossible for Eileen and Leyla to get close. So, they decided to find a spot to rest first, planning to approach once the crowd thinned out.
The air was thick with different perfumes.
After a bit, the group of women who had been surrounding Alvera scattered, going into the room to catch a glimpse of Alveraâs great-great-grandson.
Leyla stood up, and with Eileen and Gabriela by her side, made her way over. Coincidentally, the Aston family approached as well. They all ended up in front of Alvera at nearly the same time.
As soon as Alvera spotted Keith, she stood up and took his hand. âYouâre such a stubborn man. If my family hadnât invited you repeatedly, you wouldnât have bothered to visit me.â
âIâm sorry, Mrs. Lyons. Iâve been swamped lately, but I promise to visit more often in the future,â Keith said with a gentle smile, holding Alveraâs hand. Then, he added, âThis is my wife. Do you still recognize her?â
âWhat do you mean? Even though itâs been a while, I can still recognize her,â Alvera said with a smile toward Kamila. She thenâ¦
Alvera glanced over and continued, âIs that your son, Harrell? And the woman there is Jaliyah. Do you think Iâd forget anyone from your family?â The moment she finished speaking, she scanned the room, her eyes suddenly locking onto Eileen. Releasing Keithâs hand, she quickly moved over to get a closer look at Eileen.
Everyone was confused by Alveraâs action.
