Chapter 1022:
Jaliyah slapped her thigh, exclaiming, âThatâs got to be it! Sheâs definitely pregnant. Maybe sheâs not confident about carrying the baby to term, so she has been hospitalized.â
A flood of ideas ran through her mind, but she had no solid proof.
She found a spot to hide and then quietly followed Eileen. Watching as Eileen entered the suite on the top floor, she snapped a photo and immediately sent it to Kamila. âEileenâs pregnant. But the hospital is keeping it a secret. Itâs going to be tough to bribe her doctor, so weâll need to figure out another way.â
Kamila didnât waste a second before calling Jaliyah. âItâs not entirely impossible to make her lose the baby. Weâre in Alvertonâwe are capable of handling someone like her,â Kamila said.
âMom, I just mean doing it quietly is boring. Eileen has caused you a lot of trouble. Donât we deserve to make her pay for it big?â Jaliyah replied. She wasnât acquainted with Eileen, but she believed Eileen had dared to set her sights on the Aston familyâs wealth, and that was as good as threatening her lifeline!
Kamilaâs tone turned serious. âDonât handle this personally; they will get leverage on you, and we canât afford to get tangled in a mess we canât win. The goal is to push her out of Alverton, not to go to war with her.â
Jaliyah rolled her eyes but responded, âYeah, youâre right, thinking of the big picture. Iâll try and find Eileenâs doctor.â
After the call ended, Jaliyah didnât bother seeking out the doctor. Instead, she headed to Mirandaâs office, idly playing on her phone with little interest in conversation. Miranda, however, picked up on Jaliyahâs curiosity about the VIP patients and kept an eye out. After her rounds, she returned and shared some information with Jaliyah in a low voice.

Jaliyah quickly put her phone away and sat up straight. âWhat do you mean? If sheâs not pregnant, why is she staying in the department of obstetrics and gynecology?â
Miranda shook her head. âThatâs just what Iâve heard. Iâm not sure of the details, but who said someone canât stay in this departmentâs ward without being pregnant? If one has money, one could almost make anything happen.â Before, Bryan had stepped out of the restaurant and walked away without even going into the in-patient building.
Jaliyah had been puzzled as to why Bryan wasnât by Eileenâs side if she was really at risk of losing the baby. But now, it was clear that the whole situation didnât add up.
âWhy would a man come all the way to the hospital and then not stay with his wife in the ward?â Jaliyah asked.
Miranda, having seen her fair share of drama in the hospital, quickly replied, âThere are only two reasons. Either he doesnât care, or sheâs hiding the pregnancy from him. Hospitals are breeding grounds for liesâeither the patient knows whatâs going on and keeps it from their family, or the family hides the truth from the patient.â
âWait, you said sheâs seeing a psychiatrist this afternoon?â Jaliyah asked, trying to piece things together.
âA psychologist,â Miranda corrected.
âThat means she has a mental problem! No way. Eileenâs too sharp for that. I bet sheâs hiding something from Bryan and leading him around by the nose,â Jaliyah said, her thoughts racing. After racking her brain, she suddenly thought of something. âCould it be that sheâs hiding the pregnancy from Bryan?â
