Chapter 1018:
Eileen had never had a stomachache last this long before. It was starting to get on her nerves.
She shuffled into the kitchen and wrapped her arms around Bryanâs waist from behind. âItâs just a stomachache,â she mumbled into his back. âYouâre acting like Iâve got some terminal illness.â
âDonât say something like that,â Bryan said, his voice softening. âGo sit in the dining room.â
Eileen let go and went to sit at the table, watching as Bryan brought over her warmed-up breakfast.
âYou can eat now. Iâm gonna pack our stuff. Weâll head back to the Vazquez Mansion after we get the test results.â Bryan fastened his cufflinks and then walked to stand behind Eileen. He gently gathered her long black hair and tied it up.
After that, Eileen started to eat, but she couldnât stomach more than a few bites. She had to stop eating. At the hospital, while Bryan went to fetch the test results, she headed to Emersonâs ward.
Dalores looked like a wreck. Her hair was a mess, her eyes were red and puffy, and her face was pale. Eileen was taken aback. âWhat happened to you?â she asked.
âIâm going to tell Julio about Emerson, Eileen,â Dalores said. It was the only solution she could come up with after a sleepless night.
Once Julio knew Emerson was his son, he couldnât just let him die. He would save him.
After all, Emerson was his own flesh and blood!
âIâll let Julio have Emerson if he wants,â Dalores added, tears rolling down her cheeks. âAs long as Emerson is saved, I donât mind not seeing him again for the rest of my life.â

Eileen handed Dalores some tissues and gave her shoulder a comforting squeeze. âSometimes, you have to make tough decisions. Things might turn out better than you expect.â
It was clear to her that Julio had feelings for Dalores. If they could just put their pride aside and talk honestly, things would be much easier for them.
Dalores stared out the window, lost in her thoughts. âIf only Iâd never met him,â she murmured. âWithout all the hopes and dreams, I wouldnât have had to make these decisions. I would have just worked the hardest jobs, eaten the simplest food, and lived the toughest life.â Physical hardship would have been easier to bear than this emotional turmoil.
âDalores, you have to believe that even the hardest times can pass. Stay strong. These challenges youâre facing, theyâre either consequences of your own choices or tests for you,â Eileen said.
Back when Ruby had been sick, she had been stuck in a difficult position between Bryan and Vivian. Nobody could understand what she had been going through. But that had passed.
âItâs all my fault,â Dalores admitted, her voice heavy with regret. âIf I hadnât been so stubborn about staying, none of this wouldâve happened. I understand everything now. Iâll tell Julio he has a son.â She took out her phone and sent a text to Julio.
