Chapter 1005:
The lingering smell from the ward kept Eileen from returning. She bid Dalores farewell, asking her to call if anything came up.
As Eileen left the hospital, her phone buzzed. Julioâs name flashed on the screen.
Julioâs call was purely business-related. âI need your help with this project. My assistant had to leave,â he explained.
Eileen, still holding shares in the Ferguson Group, couldnât refuse. âAlright, just give me advance notice of the exact time,â she replied.
âItâll be in about a week. The Aston family will be our toughest competition.â Julio paused briefly before adding, âI hear youâre at odds with them now?â
âWe have some conflicts,â Eileen admitted. âBut I donât mix business with personal matters.â
Julio then said something else and inquired about her whereabouts.
Eileen cut to the chase. âIâm in the city for work. I just saw Dalores, who mentioned she hasnât seen you in days. If you want to ask something, just do it directly. You know I dislike beating around the bush.â
Julio was silent for a few seconds before responding, âBryanâs the one who loves to dance around the point, yet you still love him.â
âBryanâs the exception,â Eileen shot back. âBut you can also consider this as my bias against you.â
âWhat about you withdrawing your shares in the company?â Julio said, feeling the sting of Eileenâs sharp tongue.
Your story source gⱯlnÏνðâsâ¤com Eileen scoffed. âThe Ferguson Group pays me tens of millions in bonuses annually. Now, you want me to withdraw my shares? Keep dreaming!â With that, she ended the call.
In the days that followed, there was no word from the Brown family. Eileen wasnât sure if they were weighing the plan to make her marry their son or trying to find another way.
During this time, Eileen threw herself into the Ferguson Groupâs project remotely while managing things at the VQ Group. Her days were busy, leaving her no time to even catch her breath.
A week later, she attended the project bidding alongside Julio.
As she entered the hall, she spotted Keith.
Keith stood out, even among his peers.
Eileen had seen photos of him in his younger daysâhe was incredibly handsome. It was no wonder her mother loved him so much.
Perhaps sensing her gaze, Keith turned to look at her.
After a moment, he offered a polite nod and smile, which Eileen returned before taking her seat beside Julio.
The Ferguson Group had a clear edge when it came to steel prices. Eileen and Julio were almost confident that the Aston family had no shot at winning the bid.
âThe price is really low, and youâre even covering the haulage costs yourself. How could you not succeed?â Eileen put away the bidding proposal and gave Julio a sidelong glance. âIf youâre just looking for an excuse to find her, just say so. Doesnât all this spending make you wince?â
Julioâs expression darkened. âAt least this way, I can still have my dignity!â
