"Hey Nettie, how are you doin'?"
Nettie blinked open her eyes. She looked up to see a glowing girl staring back down, her smile stretched to her ears and her dark eyes full of worry and care.
"Uhh..."
"It's Celeste."
"Oh, hi... what... areâ"
"Bailey came and visited you, it was my turn. You're lucky it's Spring Break and I have nothing goin' on right now." Nettie's face fell.
"Spring Break...?"
"Yes, honey. Spring Break. That's what I just said." Nettie sighed drowsily.
"Sorry... this is hard. Life sure is tough."
Celeste looked offended. "Oh yeah?" She spat. "Try being a queer woman of color with a modeling job sometime." Nettie slunk down into her sheets, feeling guilty and afraid. "I'm sorry, honey. I just think people don't understand how tough life is for people like me. You can imagine how it's tough to be a lesbian, and a woman, and that of color. The modeling... isn't easy."
"It seems glamorous..." Nettie smiled wistfully, acknowledging she would never be thought of as 'model material'.
"Well, no one respects the industry. Modeling is fun, and I love it, not for the fame at all. I like being the art for photographers like my girlfriend, or fashion designers, or anyone. They all regard me as 'dumb' or 'materialistic', which I'm not. And managers and the media pressure us models into looking perfect, by any means possible. I had an eating disorder when I was younger, of course closely monitored by my old manager, who I've dumped. Destiny and my family and my friends helped me out of that big old hole, thankfully. If I didn't have them... I don't know. There are models who weren't as fortunate as me. I could write a novel about all of my struggles.
but you know... I wouldn't ever wanna be anybody else except for me. I'm one of a kind, y'know?"
Celeste looked down to Nettie, who was asleep with a small smile on her face.
"See ya, honey."

a/n; this week's been kinda tough, and i realize the timeline for this is kinda off, and i realize the writing in this chapter isn't lovely either, so i'm sorry.
also... i'm drawing out the characters so you guys can see how I imagine them (you may imagine them differently), but do you guys have any headcanons for them (voice, faceclaim, aesthetic, favorite animal, food, anything?)
