âAre you okay?â Dan-Han asked as he ran his hand over Eun-sunâs face. She rubbed her cheek against his palm and nodded.
âIâm fine.â
âYou donât look fine.â Dan-Han told her, using his fingers to brush some locks of her hair behind her ear.
âIâm fine,â Eun-sun insisted, but wearily sighed afterwards. âIâm just worried for Mi-Cha, and my...and him.â She said looking towards the direction of the room. She had excused herself when Dan-Hanâs father returned. She knew he didnât like and she wouldnât pretend and act like she wasnât bothered about it, so she had excused herself.
Dan-Han awkwardly stared at her. âYou should learn to call him dad.â He said making Eun-sun to look him in the eyes.
She resignedly sighed. âIt...it feels strange. Itâs going to take a while.â
âItâll only take a while if you let it. Get it out and youâd find how easy it is. It shouldnât be that strange.â
.....
Eun-sun quietly looked at him. She knew he was right but she just couldnât help it. She had addressed two different people as her parents and now doing so with another almost felt strange, even though it shouldnât.
She had been the one who wanted to find them, and now that she did and they have accepted her, she didnât know what was suddenly wrong.
âCome here,â Dan-Han held her hand and pulled her to his chest when he saw the despondent look on her face. He kissed the top of her head and gently pat her hair.
âI know it takes a lot of getting used to, but itâll be fine. Everything will be fine.â He assured her and Eun-sun nodded wrapping her arms around him.
Her heart eased in his embrace as he soothed her with his hands.
âIâm sorry,â She muttered as she laid head against his chest.
Dan-Hanâs brows creased as he wondered why she was suddenly apologizing.
âWhy?â He asked as he tried to pull her away and look at her face, but Eun-sun objected.
âFor doubting you, Dan-Han. I shouldnât have. And thank you,â She audibi whispered.
âFor what?â Dan-Han asked without breaking the hug.
Eun-sun tightened her arms around him and snuggled her head closer to his chest. She always found great relief in his arms. Dan-Han was a source of strength to her and she appreciated him every day for it.
âFor everything.â She replied. âFor always being here, and for keeping to your word.â She told him.
He had promised to give her a complete family and he had done exactly that, and even more.
Dan-Han kissed the top of her head before pulling her away from him. He smiled when he saw her hazel eyes shining brightly at him.
âThereâs nothing Iâd rather do than make you happy. You donât have to thank me for it.â
Eun-sun leaned in and kissed his lips, taking him unaware. His smiled widened when her cheeks blushed after realizing what she had done especially when heard a soft giggle from two girls who had walked past them.
âYouâre making me have wild thoughts, small lady. But this is a hospital. Be careful with me.â He said with a teasing smile, but Eun-sun knew he wasnât just saying it, he was warning her.
She knew the man she was dating, and he was a beast when he wanted to. One minute he was sweet and caring, and the next he was devouring her.
Funny how she was fastly growing a appetite on her own.
âThen Iâll wait till weâre home and safe.â She said.
She shyly bit her neither lip when his eyes suddenly darkened with a dark hunger she particularly know him for.
âYou-â He took a step towards her. He sighed and raked his hand through his hair and hissed before taking a step back.
âYouâre a little devil, just know that.â He said and glared at her.
Eun-sun chuckled at his annoyed expression, but that only made him glare even harder.
âYou should take some rest, Dan-Han. Youâve been standing all day. Donât forget youâre still injured. You should go back to your room and rest.â She told him when remembered how busy he had been with her family issue all day.
Dan-Han sighed. âItâs nothing. Iâll rest later. I still have to talk with my dad. And thereâs something I have to tell you.â
âWhat is it?â A worried frown framed her face when she saw the change on his countenance.
âI have to go back home by weekend.â
âReally?â Eun-sun was utterly surprised. She didnât think theyâd have to go back so soon. She thought they could spend a few more days there before heading back even though sheâd like to stay more.
âDid something happen at the company?â She worriedly asked, wondering why they had to leave now.
Dan-Han shook his head. âNothing happened. I just have to attend an important meeting.â He lied not wanting to tell her the reason why, because he knew sheâd feel bothered.
Eun-sun skeptically looked at him. âAre you sure?â She asked. She had a feeling Dan-Hanâs father had something to do with this sudden decision. The man always had a way of bringing in bad news just because he didnât want her for his soon.
News flash, she was going to be with him no matter what.
She sighed when he nodded his head. âI... Iâll inform my parents and go to the hotel and pack our bags then.â
âNo, thereâll be need for that.â Dan-Han told her and Eun-sun looked at him in surprise.
âWhy?â Did he want to go home without her?
âLook, you have to stay here with your folks. You just met them, and it wouldnât be right if you just leave with me.â
âBut-â
âIâll come back as soon as Iâm done.â He interjected her. Eun-sun looked at him not sure of what to say.
She knew she couldnât just leave because of her folks, but she also didnât want him to leave with her.
âHow long are you going to stay?â She decided to ask, instead of pressing for something she knew he was right about.
Dan-Han sighed. âOne week.â
âOne week?â She hadnât been apart from him for so long since they got back together. She had spent each with him, practically living under his roof.
âCome here,â Dan-Han cupped her face and leaned his head against hers. âIâll miss you too. And Iâm not leaving immediately. Itâs not weekend yet.â
âWeekend is two days from now.â She eyed him irritably.
Dan-Han pecked her cheek, âI know.â
âAnd thatâs why we should make it worthwhile. Iâll take you somewhere tomorrow. Just the two of us, and thereâll be no evil uncle or stress.â He pecked her lips again, but Eun-sun shook her head.
âI canât go about having fun when everybody is here. Iâll wait for you to get back and then we go home together.â She told him.
Dan-Han wanted to insist on it, but he deflatedly sighed. âAs you wish.â He told her.
Eun-sun didnât want him to leave but she couldnât tell him that. He had a company to look after. For her sake he had dropped all his responsibilities and had come with her to reunite her with her family.
She knew he had to go.
âHave you heard anything about Mi-Cha?â Eun-sun inquired. Itâs been almost an hour since she left and no one had been able to contact her.
Dan-Han looked at his phone and shook his head. âNot yet.â He said and Eun-sun wearily sighed.
âWhere could she be?â She worriedly asked.
âDonât worry about it. Mi-Chaâs going to be fine. Iâm sure sheâll come around, and there are also people looking out for her. Sheâll be back soon.â Dan-Han encouraged, and Eun-sun nodded.
Dan-Han was just about putting his phone away when it chimed with a message notification.
It was information about Mi-Chaâs whereabouts.
He stared at Eun-sun who was also staring at him.
âTheyâve found her car.â He told Eun-sun who sighed with relief.
âWhere?â She urgently asked.
âSomewhere in town. Iâll go get her.â He said.
âIâll come with you.â
âI donât think -â
Eun-sun shook her head. âNo Dan-Han, sheâs my sister too, right?â
âYes.â
âThen I should go with you. This is my family now, so I must make the same effort Iâve made in the past to keep it together.â
Dan-Han skeptically looked at her, but seeing the stubborn look in her eye he knew there was no way he could dissuade her from not coming.
....
Mi-Cha stepped out of her car as she pulled her over by the road side. She drew in a large chunk of air into her lungs to stop her from panting as hard as she was.
But as much air as she pushed inside her, she couldnât stop the tightness in her chest.
She still felt like she was dreaming. Like the last one hour has been a bloody nightmare she didnât want to relive.
She was her uncleâs child, who in turn was the criminal theyâve been trying to catch all these while?
.....
The same person who had tried to kill her father? Rather her adopted father, who now happens to be her uncle?
Mi-Cha bellowed out hysterically.
This was funny! It was unbelievably crazy and funny!
If she was Yong-Gunâs child, what does that make her? A co-Villain?
Mi-Cha didnât know what to call herself. She just wanted someone to tell her all she had heard and imagined were not true.
She desperately needed that.
