Dan-Han silently drummed his hand on the table as he stared out the window. He was running a check of things in his head to see if he had left anything out, and it seems he hasnât.
His eyes trailed towards his phone when it rang, and he answered the call.
âWhich is it?â He asked.
âThe one you said, sir.â Someone replied from the other end of the phone.
âThen you know what to do, donât you?â Dan-Han asked, and the man affirmatively replied.
âGet it done, when itâs time.â He said and disconnected the call.
He lolled back on the chair and his fingers resumed drumming against the desk in a precise manner.
.....
âYou seem like youâre plotting something in your head.â Eun-sun amusedly joked as she strolled in from the bathroom in a robe.
Dan-Han turned to her with a meaningful smile. âAs a matter of fact, I am.â
Eun-sun raised a curious brow. âReally?â
âYep,â Dan-Han nodded. âA really messy one at that.â He said with a cryptic smile which had Eun-sun peering at him with interest. He didnât seem to be joking. She tightened her robe as she walked towards him. She stopped at the edge of the table and folded her arms across her chest while she stared at him a bit more intently.
âCare to share what this âplotâ is all about?â She asked, enunciating on the plot.
Dan-Han stared at her and smiled. âNot at all. Youâll hate me enough at the end of it, so Iâll save the trouble for later.â
A slight frown framed Eun-sunâs face as she intently observed him. She tried to discern if he had meant that as a joke or if he was being serious, but it didnât seem like a joke.
She took a step closer and he raised his head to meet her gaze. âDan-Han what are you doing?â She asked with a suspicious tone.
âHasting things up.â
âWhat things?â She pressed. Her eyes furrowed when he silently stared at her as if leaving her to find the answer by herself, and when Eun-sun did, her frown deepened.
âYou arenât trying to provoke that man are you?â She sternly asked and Dan-Han scoffed.
âProvoke you say? Iâm not provoking anybody.â He told her.
âThen what are you doing?â Eun-sun demanded. If he wasnât in desperate search of trouble, then what was he doing?
Dan-Han sighed. âSee, Iâm not the the type to sit around and wait for an opponent to decide when itâs time to start a battle. I donât even do this plotting thing. I handle my problem as soon as I identify them.â
âAnd by handling you mean killing someone?â She snapped, giving Dan-Han a hard look that dared him to deny it. And of course, Dan-Han wasnât going to, rather his gaze also hardened at her.
âEun-sun, Iâve never pretended to be a good person to you, neither have I acted to be someone Iâm not.â He tartly told her.
A deflated sigh eased off Eun-sunâs lips. Of course, he hadnât done that, but could he at least not act like some villain?
She softened her look and voice. âCan you be a bit more patient or careful?â She softly asked.
Dan-Han sighed when he registered the soft change in her disposition and he did the same. âThis is taking too long already.â
âItâs been two days.â
âThree.â Dan-Han corrected. âBut thatâs enough to see to the end of this madness. I have other issues to attend to. So Iâd like for this to end quickly so everyone can get their happily ever after, especially me.â He said with a loud hiss.
Eun-sun stared at him, not knowing what else to say. She knew he was stressed with a lot of things and she had to say she felt apologetic having him handle so much pressure.
âGo get dressed, your father is on his way here.â He told here and Eun-sun stared at him with shock surprise.
âHe is?â She inquired and Dan-Han nodded.
âWhy?â She couldnât help but ask.
Dan-Han shrugged. âI guess heâs highly impatience. I can only deduce he might have done the test after all, if heâs in such a desperate need to see me.â He reasoned.
Eun-sunâs felt her heart skip at his words. She mindlessly clenched her fingers which had suddenly become clammy.
âSo this means he already knows?â Eun-sun anxiously asked, despite being sure that was what he meant.
Dan-Han nodded.
He sighed when she stiffened and suddenly began pacing. There was no doubt she was anxious and it was completely understandable.
He stood up from the chair and walked up to her, planting himself in front of her to stop her pacing. she looked at him with worry and anxiety.
Dan-Han held her by the shoulder. âYou donât have to be anxious.â He said. âThis was all weâve been waiting for. You donât have to be scared now.â He told her, but Eun-sun sighed.
âWhat if they donât like me?â
âWhy wonât they like you?â Dan-Han asked with a frown. Sometimes he really doesnât get this woman he was in love with. It wasnât as if they were her in-laws who were coming to inspect their future daughter-in-law, so what was she scared about?
Eun-sun nervously bit her lips as she tried to reply his question. âI didnât get the best of education. I...I have a very foul temper. Iâm rough around the edges. Iâm not some prim and proper daughter like...like-â
âLike Mi-Cha?â Dan-Han raised a brow at her and she hesitantly nodded.
Dan-Han blankly stared at her, not sure of what to say. This girl and her worries were going to be the death of him.
He loudly sighed after few moments of silence. He couldnât reprimand her for all the things she had just said, because he understood she was nervous and other people would feel the same too.
He run his hands down her arms which had suddenly become cold and he guessed it was because of the nerves.
âEun-sun, thereâs no need to worry about all that. Iâm sure right now all he wants is to see you and know what happened. Why you had missed twenty-five years of being with your family? Right this moment all the old man wants is just answers. And Iâm sure heâs also feeling anxious because he must feel he had failed to protect his child. So relax, thereâs no need for all this anxiety.â He assured her.
Eun-sun held her breath as she tried to calm herself down, but she couldnât. âI donât think I can.â She said.
âJust breath, love. Everything will be fine.â He told her and Eun-sun slowly took in a long, deep breath.
He smiled at her. âNow thatâs my girl.â He pulled her close and kissed her cheek. âYouâll be fine.â He assured her and Eun-sun nodded despite her disbelief.
âSo this plan of yours, will it be dangerous?â She asked. If he said she was going to hate him later, then she believed there was going to be an enormous amount of danger in it, but would be at the receiving end?
Dan-Han managed a smile which Eun-sun found to be very stiff. âOnly if things doesnât go as planned.â
He kissed her forehead when her countenance changed. âIâll make sure everything goes as planned.â He assuringly smiled, but Eun-sunâs countenance didnât change.
âIs there anything I have to do?â
âYes, just do as I say.â
âAnd by that, you mean nothing.â That was obviously what he meant.
Understanding her tone and mood, his smile broadened. âNot exactly. Thereâs one thing youâll do.â
âWhatâs that?â Eun-sun asked with interest.
âIt requires you dressing up, so you have to do that first.â
Eun-sun silently stared at him before making her way to the wardrobe to get herself dressed.
âAnything in particular I should wear?â She inquired, and Dan-Han shook his head.
âJust wear your comfy clothes.â He said and Eun-sun continued with her task of dressing up.
Dan-Han returned to his seat and stared at a copy of a DNA result on his laptop, bearing Ki-Junâs name. He logged into a different email account and sent it to the address he had received a mail from two days ago.
He reclined back on the chair as he stared at the delivered mail. This was going to cause a lot of problems, but there were problems he was ready to face.
If things worked as he had planned them, then no one would be scathed. He was going to take a risk especially with Ki-Junâs life, but if the man wanted answers then he was going to give it to him, but in the way heâd want. Because it would be a futile attempt to tell the man that his only beloved brother was a villain, or about his atrocities against him.
He didnât have the energy to explain and convince him, rather heâd let him find out himself.
