Eun-sun was stunned by the reception she received the moment they alighted the car. Holding the door for her was a beautiful and graceful lady with a pleasant and radiant smile directed at her.
âIâve always imagined what youâd look like, youâre so small and cute.â The lady as she pulled Eun-sun into a warm hug slightly startling the girl. Eun-sunâs eyes fluttered in shocked surprise as this wasnât what she had imagined at all.
Wait, did she just say small and cute?!
She wasnât that small!
âYouâre just as beautiful as my sister in-law said.â The woman pulled away from the hug as she held Eun-sunâs shoulder and carefully examined her face.
âG...Good evening ma.â Eun-sun greeted, slightly feeling awkward.
âMa? Just call me Aunty. Iâm like a mother to Dan-Han so call me Aunty, okay?â She said and Eun-Sun nodded.
.....
Eun-sun, who was really surprised by the womanâs welcoming attitude gazed at Ni-Na who shot her the âI told you so, you had nothing to worry aboutâ look.
Eun-sun returned her gaze to the woman who was beamingly smiling at her like she was very pleased to see her and she felt slightly relieved. The woman looked about the same age as Mrs Lee and they shared a similar kind of beauty, the delicate yet graceful. Despite her age, she looked younger. Even her aura was regal, like that of a real matriarch of some ancient aristocratic family. Seeing her reminded Eun-sun of Mrs Lee, and her eyes suddenly turned teary but she quickly blinked them back.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
God, she missed her, alot.
âAre you okay?â Ni-Na asked when she noticed the slight change in Eun-sunâs countenance.
âIâm fine.â Eun-sun nodded.
They both ushered Eun-sun into the house and introduced her to Ni-Naâs father. Eun-sun slightly stiffened when she saw the man who had a huge semblance with his brother. His aura and looks was nothing short of Mr Leeâs, but the difference was the diastema which he revealed when he spoke and that made him look more approachable than Dan-Hanâs father.
âYou must be Dan-Hanâs woman?â He asked as Eun-sun was ushered to him. His eyes skimmed her from head to toe, while giving an approving nod.
Eun-sun nodded and politely greeted, âGood evening, sir.â
âGood evening, young lady. How are you?â
âVery fine, sir, and you?â
âIâm good, thank you.â He replied. âDonât be tensed, you look like Iâm going to eat you, or would I?â He cocked a brow at her when he noticed how stiffly she stood, making Eun-sun shake her head.
âNo, sir.â
âGood. Then make yourself comfortable.â He told her, gesturing for her to take her seat which she did. Eun-sun felt slightly relaxed when he smiled revealing his diastema again.
Ni-Naâs mother had readily jumped to her side to interrogate her, but her husband interrupted her chit-chat.
âItâs late, pass it to her and send her home, you can invite her some other time.â The man said with a tone of authority making his wife nod before excusing herself, but Eun-sun didnât miss the light pout on her lips like she was silently complaining.
She was truly like Mrs Lee.
Eun-sun felt nervous hearing his word. What were they giving to her? Was it something for Dan-Han? If it was, why werenât they giving it to Dan-Han directly? They werenât even that close to her, so....
While Eun-sun pondered on the numerous thoughts in her mind she didnât notice the gaze of the man sitting adjacent to her. He seemed to be assessing her.
Eun-sun snapped out of her thought when the woman returned and she took note of the brown envelope in her hand.
She watched as she joined her on the couch which she was seated and handed the envelope to her. Eun-sun looked at the woman with confusion glistening in her eyes before slowly receiving the envelope.
âWhatâs this?â She asked in a cautious and confused voice.
âOpen it.â She urged. Eun-sun looked at the woman and her husband and she couldnât help but notice the indescribable look in the womanâs eyes. Eun-sun looked at the envelope and she wondered what was inside.
Seeing Eun-sun hesitation, the woman said. âSister In-law sent this to me two weeks before she died, requesting it should be given to you at the appropriate time,â She paused as her voice slowly began to tremble and she continued. âBut none of us knew what she meant by appropriate time till she passed away.â Ni-Na went to her motherâs side and placed a hand on her shoulders to comfort her. As the only women in the Lee family, they had both been close even though they lived in different countries.
Eun-sun was surprised by her words. Mrs Lee wanted her to have this? She looked at the envelope again, and her heart suddenly felt heavy as it pounded heavily.
What did Mrs Lee want to give you her?
Eun-sunâs hands slightly trembled as she slowly opened the envelope and brought out the papers inside. Eun-sun froze the moment she saw of the content of the envelope. Her eyes widened to the fullest as she stared at it.
W...what was this?
She darted her eyes to the woman seated by her side, then to her husband and also to Ni-Na before looking back at the paper.
Why was there a property deed issued in her name?
Eun-sun looked at it in sheer confusion and she looked at the people around for clarity.
âWhatâs this?â She asked when she couldnât make sense of it.
She looked at Ni-Naâs mother who had a melancholic smile on her face.
The woman placed her hand on Eun-sunâs hand. âSister in-law wanted you to have this as some sort of dowry. I donât know what she exactly wants you to do, but I believe she wants you to take care of yourself and her son.â
Take care of herself? Eun-sun looked even more confused now. She gazed at Ni-Na and then the man.
âMarrying Dan-Han wouldnât be an easy fit for you giving your background and she knew my brother might not be welcoming of the idea hence why she has provided you with some support. I believe Itâs her way of telling you nothing should be an obstacle in being with Dan-Han.â
Huh?
Eun-sun was dumbfounded by what they were saying. Mrs Lee had left a will for her, was that what they were trying to say?
Eun-sunâs eyes instantly glistened with tears and before she could blink tears were already running down from her eyes.
She was still taking care of her even in death?
Why...why was she treating her this way?
Eun-sun didnât know what to do, think or say, but her body trembled and more tears trickled down her cheek.
Why was Mrs Lee doing this? Why was she gone? Why did she suddenly leave? She was doing too much...
Eun-sun didnât know who held her, but she felt an arm wrapped around her shoulders.
âDonât cry Eun-sun. Aunty truly loves you and she wouldnât want you to cry.â Ni-Na comforted her even though her own tears were threatening to fall.
The man watched as all three women suddenly began to sob and comfort each other. The loss of his brotherâs wife was a huge blow to the entire family. She was someone that loved with all her heart and he truly wished she had fought a bit more to accompany his brother and her son. But even in death she was still being who she was, a loving soul.
âYou should figure out what you want to do and weâll support you. Do not worry about my brother, heâll come around soon.â He told her while his wife nodded as she lovingly patted Eun-sunâs hair.
âYou must know nothing good comes easy. If you and Dan-Han arenât meant to be you wouldnât be facing challenges, God will never give you more than you can bear, so I know you and Dan-Han will be alright at the long run.â She assured her.
Eun-sun didnât know what to say when she heard their words. There was an indescribable feeling in her heart that was threatening to overwhelm her.
She nodded her head and said, âThank you.â
Ni-Na and her mother were a bit reluctant to let her go, but her father had requested the driver to drop Eun-sun off but not before making the girl promise to visit them again.
âI wonder what sheâll do now?â The man muttered to himself, but his wife had heard him. She could hear the suspicion in his voice.
âSheâll do fine. If sister In-law believes in her then I will. She is never wrong.â
