LEXI
Lexi tried to cover her ears as Reece cursed loudly over the phone. When she got home and explained what had happened, Reece dialed Carlos and started screaming at the top of her lungs.
âSo, your bitch ass thought it was okay to fire her, and you think Iâll let it go?â
No matter how hard Lexi pressed her palms against her ears, Reeceâs voice overpowered everything.
âHow the fuck did I use you? Did you not get pussy in return? Itâs called the exchange of goods and fucking services!â
Lexi gave up trying to block the noise. She couldnât hear Carlosâs reply, but he mustâve said something horrible to make Reeceâs eyes turn black.
âStay right there. I want you to say that to my face.â
Reece hung up the phone and rifled through her bag for her handgun. She emptied all the bullets except for one.
Lexi jumped in front of her and placed her hands on the weapon. âOkay, youâve said enough. Now calm down.â
Reece pulled the gun from Lexi and pushed it in her waistband. Then she went to tie her shoelaces.
Lexi followed her, pleading, âReece, for the love of God, donât!â Seeing the dangerous look in her best friendâs eyes, she began crying.
âIâm gonna fuck him up. Nobody gets to hurt you, Dray, or say fucked up shit about you either. Nobody! I donât give a fuck who it is! He can say whatever he wants about me, but youâre innocent. Where does he come off thinking I will let this shit slide?â
Reece grabbed her car keys and a bat from her closet. Lexi grabbed her jacket and ran as fast as she could to keep up with her.
She was relieved that she did not mention Camilleâs insult earlier that day, or the woman would also be at the receiving end of Reeceâs wrath.
In the car, it was silent, except for the engine revving as Reece shifted gears. They reached the café in record time, and Lexi had to run to keep up with Reece as she dragged her by the hand across the big street.
Reece swung her bat back and forth, creating a tornado to cut through the line of people outside Makerâs. The security guard was about six feet tall, but even he was silenced by Reeceâs middle finger. They entered the club area without a word.
Reece immediately walked up to the stage, where the DJ was playing hip hop music. She released Lexiâs hand to grab the mic and physically shoved the DJ from his booth. He stumbled back a few feet as the music came to a screeching halt.
Everyone in the room turned to look at them. Lexi hung her head, afraid to look up and witness any of the chaos that was happening.
âLet me tell you about a man named Carlos,â Reece began. âSince he likes roasting employees, I think itâs his turn to get roasted.â
Seeing the Makerâs owner bolting for the stage, she lifted her shirt so he could see the gun in her waistband. He stopped immediately.
âCarlosâs belly is so big that every time we go out in public, people ask him how far along he is.â
The crowd exploded.
âI bet when he was born the doctors were confused. What is it? A boy, a girl, an unidentified species? What?â
Lexi couldnât believe how loud everyone was laughing, even the employees who had worked under him for many years.
âCarlos wants to know why I only fucked him once and then stopped hanging out with him. Sleeping with you again would be like putting shit back into my own ass. Itâs meant to come out Carlos, not go back in.â
Reece was on fire, and the crowd was hysterical, but Lexi shrunk seeing the look of humiliation on Carlosâs face. Yet her best friend wasnât nearly done yet.
âCarlos is like the bus youâre ashamed to admit that you take. Itâll get you where you need to go, but everyone knows you deserve to upgrade.â
Carlos looked as if he was going to cry. ~Jesus, Reece. Just stop,~ Lexi wanted to beg.
âI came here to whoop his ass with this bat, but I figured heâd never feel a thing because heâs so fucking fat. Carlos would survive a plane crash with all that padding.â
Reece mimicked a chicken, and everyone died.
Lexi felt awful. She knew her best friend normally had nothing against people of a certain weight, but Carlos seemed to bring out the worst in her, and it was too late to do anything to save him or anyone elseâs feelings.
âCarlos called my best friend names and humiliated her a few hours agoâall because I refuse to keep entertaining his useless little dick. Money is great and everything, but I can make it without wanting to throw up every five minutes.â
This time, no one laughed. They just turned to Carlos and stared at him.
Reece dropped the microphone, grabbed Lexiâs hand, and marched toward Carlos. Now she spoke to him directly without the club speakers echoing throughout the room.
âJust so weâre clear, I donât hate you because youâre fat. I donât hate you because you have no dick and no neck either. I hate you because you hurt my friend.â She continued, âIf I see you anywhere near her or me, you will regret it. Iâm not the bitch who turns the other cheek and lets shit go, so donât fuck with me, Carlos. I wonât be this kind to you next time.â
Reece then pulled Lexi out of the club and back to the car.
