Business AlwaysWords: 9235

"When's the earliest we can get married?"

"W-what?" he sputters. "Say that again?"

"I want to get married as soon as possible, Alexander," I say.

"Amelia," he breathes out. "You were the one who wanted to wait," he reminds me.

"I know," I murmur. "But why are we waiting? I love you, and you love me too, right?" I ask hopefully, putting my hands out for him to hold.

He hesitates.

"Of course I love you."

"Then why should we wait? You know Jodie and Leroy?" I ask and he nods. "They got engaged and married within a week and I've never seen a happier couple."

"You really want this?" He squeezes my hands a little.

"More than anything," I say back.

"Alright then darling, your wish is my command-I'll have the best wedding planners come over to your place tonight." He smiles.

"Will you come as well?" I ask.

"Of course, this is our wedding."

I lean forward and peck his lips. "I'll see you later."

I get up and leave, smiling softly at him before closing the door.

My driver, who was patiently waiting for me, takes me back home.

I skip out of the dress and dump it into my closet, telling myself I'll hang it up later and wash my face. The cool water soothing my face which was hot with the stain of my tears.

After getting back home, I actually real how tiring today was and all I wanted to do was sleep for 2 days straight but I couldn't since the wedding planners were coming.

I kept questioning whether or not I was doing the right thing by marrying Alexander earlier than I had planned to.

I fell for Xavier after marrving him. and in some way. I'm hoping for my fate to repeat. but with Alexander instead.

It was a long shot-more like an impossible shot but it was my decision.

I change into a pair of Frey baggy sweats and a graphic t-shirt. I take a few minutes putting my hair in a bun that looks presentable and apply moistener to my face.

By the time I've packed on a few pretzels and other snacks around my house the wedding planner and Alexander arrive seconds apart from each other. After I've let them in and we've all sat down, she introduces herself.

"I'm Helen." She shakes both of our hands.

We both greet her and get straight to talking. She begins gushing about how much she can make our wedding day perfect because of your 'generous' budget. "Actually, we want to get married as soon as possible," I interrupt her ideas that will easily make the wait at least a couple months long.

"Sometime like next week," Alexander says and a gasp escapes me.

"Next week?" The wedding planner and I say in unison.

"You said you want it as soon as possible right."

I smile and lean into his shoulder.

"You can't hire a wedding planner and give me no time to plan," she says frantically.

"There are hundreds of wedding planners in New York-can you get the job done or not?" Alexander's authoritative voice sends chills down me, and the wedding planner is shocked too from the looks of it.

"The price would be absurd," she comments.

"Money is not an issue." Alexander waves her off. "But I would like to leave everything in your hands so my fiancée and I don't have the stress."

"Alright. I can do that," she says determinedly. "Miss Davis, all I need you to do is make sure you have a dress ready."

I nod, knowing I'll probably end up going dress shopping with Jasmine and Jodie in the coming days.

"Here." Alexander signs a check, which I'm assuming was her fees, she glances at it but does a double take when she sees the number.

"OK we need to sort out a few things right now!" She pulls a notepad out of her

bag. "What's the date and location?"

"Where do you want to get married?" Alexander asks me.

"How about the Borderline? In Long Island?" I suggest. Alexander gestures for Helen to note that down.

She checks her phone. "The only day they're free is next Sunday," she says.

"Then we're getting married next Sunday," Alexander announces.

"Can I have your phone numbers to call and inform you about everything and get your opinions," she asks.

We both write our numbers down on her paper, she congratulates us once more before leaving.

"Hey, bestie," Jasmine answers my call after everyone had left.

"OK, I have some news. Can you add Jodie to the call?" I ask her and she hums in

agreement. After a few seconds Jodie has answered as well.

"What's up?" she asks. "Shh, I'm on the phone," Jodie says, silencing Leroy, whose voice

I can hear in the background.

"So, we final a wedding date," I begin.

"What? When?" Jasmine asks.

"Next Sunday?" I say, but it almost sounds like a question.

"What? Why so soon?" Jodie asks.

I roll my eyes. "Didn't you get married a week after getting engaged?" I ask her.

"Fair enough," she murmurs.

"Do you have enough time to get everything prepared?" Jasmine asks, being the mature one for once.

"Well, Alexander and I are trusting everything with the wedding planner, but I was wondering if you guys would come dress shopping with me tomorrow?" I ask.

"Oh my God, do you even need to ask!" Jodie exclaims into the phone. "Of course!" Jasmine says back.

"Alright, I'm going to pick you guys up 9 a.m. tomorrow. Be ready!" I tell them. "Why so early?" Jodie moans.

"Dress shopping will take all day," Jasmine says. After we all say bye to each other, I hang up the call and head to my bedroom.

I don't think the dress shopping will take all day. I'm not necessarily picky, nor am I overly excited to do it. I just want this wedding done and out the way.

I collapse onto my bed, my eyes shutting immediately under the weight of today's events, but before I fall asleep, I make sure to set an alarm for 8 a.m.

"Hey, bride!" Jodie greets me. All three of us are in the back of my car and the driver takes up to the bridal boutique in the city centre.

"This is where being a billionaire comes in handy," Jasmine murmurs, touching the array of beautifully made dresses.

"Miss Davis." The shop attendant comes over to me. "Congratulations on your wedding. We have a few dresses that we think would suit you. Would you like to try them, or do you have a dress in mind?" she asks.

"Let's try them," I say, and she hands me a dress that is zipped up in a clear covering. "I'll be back, guys," I tell the girls, who nod but stay engrossed in the dresses.

I change into the first dress. The soft fabric felt nice against my skin. I was wearing heels anyway so I decided to keep my shoes on to see what the dress would look like since I would be wearing heels on the wedding day too.

I look in the mirror, it was a fit-and-flair off white satin dress with white Pearl

embellishments and a one shoulder neckline.

"Damn," I compliment myself in the mirror.

Could the first dress really be the dress?

I walk out to see Jodie and Jasmine seating on the small couches, sipping on

champagne. I clear my throat to grab their attention.

"Oh my God, Mel!" Jasmine calls me by my childhood nickname.

"You look hot, baby," Jodie flirts.

"Here you go." The bridal assistant clips a veil into my hair.

I turn around to face the mirror behind me and an overwhelming gasp escapes me. I

felt as much like a bride as I ever did.

"This is my dress," I mutter to myself.

"You can't choose the first dress you try on!" Jodie says.

"Why not? I love it!" I say back.

"It looks very good on you Miss Davis," the shop assistant chips in.

"Please." Jodie waves her off. "she's just trying to sell you an expensive dress!"

Her face drops.

"OK, OK. fine." I hold my hands up in surrender. "I'll try a few more on."

We spend the next few hours trying on different dresses, but I ultimately go back to the first one I chose.

Maybe it was the fact that this wasn't my first wedding, but I really wasn't as enthusiastic as I thought I would be. I even wondered if I really liked the first dress or just wanted to get this day over with.

Jodie and Jasmine also end up picking out their bridesmaid dresses. I let them have full control over the colour and style since they're my only 2 bridesmaids.

They ended up picking light peanut coloured cocktail dresses that they thought would go well with my dress.

"Alright, ladies. Let's call it a night," Jasmine says, picking up her drink to toast one final

time.

After shopping we decided to get dinner in a small diner, getting burgers and milkshakes. Once everyone had eaten, my driver dropped them both to their houses before taking me home too.

My phone buzzes in my pocket, and I answer. "Hello?"

"Hey, Miss Davis, it's Helen. I just wanted to finalize a guest list with you," she says.

"Of course."

We talk for about 20 minutes, basically going through everyone I know and writing

their name out for an invite. It's quite tiresome to be honest, since I have no family to invite, and my only friends are already part of the wedding.

"And finally, business partners. The two new ones I need to ask about are Hiroto Takahashi and Xavier King."

"Yes. Invite them both," I say, my voice slightly shaky on hearing Xavier's name. "Actually. could you give me Mr King's invite? I'd like to deliver it to him myself."

"Of course, I'm actually in your area-I'll put it in your mailbox," she says.

"Thank you."
