"You really gonna do me like that?" My sister asks Talia

"Hey, the detective position's not yours yet. And youngest T.O. to youngest detective will move me up the ladder nicely. But if you can't stand a little competition..." Talia wavers off

"Please, Sophia and I grew up with four brothers in a two-bedroom. I'll be standing at the finish line before you even realize the competition's started." Angela says to Talia involving me which means I have to get involved

"Too bad I am not going for the detective position because I would most definitely get that position." I tell them both

"Hey, don't be over confident if you ever apply to be a detective." Angela tells me

"Well, good thing I won't be a detective any time soon." I tell them when we all stop and see one of the new boots rushing past us.

"Where you going, Boot?" Talia asks him

"Uh, locker room, then roll call?" The boot says to us sounding a little confused while me, Angela, and Talia look at each other thinking the same thing

"Oh, no. You need to present yourself to the Captain first. It's tradition." Talia tells him

"Down the hall, up the stairs." Angela tells him directions while I am silently laughing

"Uh, yeah. Thank you." The boot says while me, Angela, and Talia all smirk from how we can trick new boots while we head to the briefing room when Sergeant Grey walks in

"All right, all right. Settle down. Settle down. So, okay, we got some new blood this morning. And some pushing the expiration date. Get up. After six months together in the Academy, you've earned the right to be here. But you'll have to prove yourself to stay. The way we do things matters. Protocol and tradition are the metal from which every cop in this city is forged. Understand?" Grey asks the boots

"Yes, sir." Boots all say

"Sit down. It's time to play the Training Officer match game. Our contestants are: Lucy Chen, a hotshot who made her first arrest before clocking in for work. Legacy Jackson West, who broke all his dad's records at the Academy. And John Nolan, who was born before disco died. And the winners are: Officer Bradford, you get our hotshot. Officer Sophia Lopez, you get our legacy. Leaving Officer Bishop to ride with the 40-year-old rookie. Now, hear me. Today is your first day. Don't let it be your last. Forget the Academy and listen to your T.O.s. They'll teach you the way it should be done. That's it. All right. Be safe out there. Officer Bishop, I need a word with your rook." Grey says and me and my boot head to our shop

"FIrst off this is your shop. Do not call it a car. It is where you work. Now before we leave you first check the exterior for damage, such as nicks, scrapes, or dents, and if you see any you log 'em in. Then you see if the suspect left anything, money, drugs, or a dookie. Now, onto the shotgun-safety check. Make sure it is empty, clear it. Close the action." I instruct Officer West

"We have police tape, road flares, spike strips." West tells me

"You're making my job easy, Officer West." I tell him

"Body-cam test."

"Log in to the computer. Put in both of our serial numbers." I tell him

"Test lights and sirens." He says then our shops siren chirps

"Now, last thing, check yourself. You are about to hit the street with a loaded handgun and have no idea what is about to happen next." I tell him thinking about James but then stop

Soon me and Officer West roll up to a very expensive looking house in a posh neighborhood. We get out of the shop and I knock on the door.

"Police!" I yell out then a woman opens the door, wearing a bathrobe.

"Ma'am, we got a call about a possible burglary in process here." I tell the woman

"I didn't call anyone." The lady tells us when we hear glass shatter in the distance.

"Watch her." I tell West

"Copy." West responds

I run around the corner to the back of the house and see someone trying to escape through the upstairs window.

"Hi. LAP-" I start to say but then the person falls off the roof and into the tree soon I get him handcuffed and me and West put both the guy

"Let me get this straight. You sneak into houses to have sex, not to rob them?" West asks the lady when I came back with the other person

"Yeah. It's a fetish." The woman says

"Right." West says sounding a little confused after we get both the woman and the guy in the shop

"Shame we can only charge them with misdemeanor trespass." I tell him

"There's evidence of a burglary." He tells me

"Yeah, well, they didn't take anything." I tell him

"Took a shower. We can charge a 459, just for stealing the water." He tells me

"That's a novel approach." I say

"Thank you, ma'am. I'd say I'm the best-prepared rookie in the history of the LA -" West starts to say when we hear moaning inside our shop and the shop is rocking rhythmically.

"Are they having sex in our shop?" He asks confused

"Damn it! Hey! Knock it off! Don't do that!" I yell at them

Traffic is stopped. A man is screaming as he stands on a car with a baseball bat in his hand.

"Are we sure the kid's still in the car?" West asks me

"I hope not. It's almost 90." I tell him

The boots were sitting at a different table while Talia, Tim and me were sitting together and talking.

"How's your day going, Sophia? 'Cause I saved a kid. Probably gonna make the paper tomorrow." Angela asks me

"Mm. You're so cute trying to get under my skin." I tell her

"Trying? She's already under. Just like you're under hers." Tim tells me

"What the hell are you talking about? She knows that I am not going for the detective position." I tell him sounding confused

"Well, that may be true but your sister does. Talia just wants it 'cause it's a stepping stone to the top. And that pisses your sister off. Meanwhile, she knows your ability to be mercenary gives you a leg up 'cause she's got an overdeveloped sense of morality, which gets in her way." Tim says

"Shut up." Me and Talia both tell him

"Well, Talia, I don't know why the hell you and Angela are so determined to get out of patrol. This is where all the fun is." Tim tells her when the boots come over

"You didn't forget the hot sauce, did you, Boot?" Tim tells his boot

"Is there meat in this?" Talia asks hers then

"Uh... no?" Officer Nolan says confused when we hear Talia and Officer Nolan's dispatch go off.

"7-Adam-15, return to 1401 West Sycamore. Situation has escalated." Dispatch said then Nolan and Talia left

The next day we were in the debriefing room when Grey came in.

"So, all right, all right. Settle down. I just got a disturbing video. Never seen anything so horrific. So prepare yourselves." Grey tells us and we see a video of Officer Nolan having a difficult time trying to climb a locked gate while chasing the unicorn father

"Give me a sec." Officer Nolan says on the video while he was panting and grunting and we hear the rattling of the gate

"Such grace and athleticism has never before been seen in the LAPD. Is that a gazelle wearing the blues? Or a dinosaur from a long forgotten age? Now you will see Officer Chen execute a perfect flying tackle. [APPLAUSE] All right, fun's over. This is a BOLO for Mr. Lance Selby, who violated his parole yesterday. Scale from 1 to 10, this guy's a 12. Did a nickel for attempted murder with a claw hammer. So whoever gets him off the street will get a sincere handshake and Super Bowl Sunday off. That's it. Be safe out there." Grey says ending his statement while me and West head out

"7-Adam-07 arriving on scene." West says

Me and West pull up and get out of the shop and I start to fire as Tim and Officer Chen are sheltered behind there shop after Tim got shot. While I am shooting, West is on the ground frozen with a panicked look on his face.

"Officer West, get out your gun and cover me!" I tell him while shooting then I see him on the ground "Damn it! Get your ass up and engage the suspect! Get up!" I tell him in a angry tone and he still cowers, staring as the suspect runs off and we spot a woman walking alone.

We ate back at the station and then I confront Officer West.

"If you don't have what it takes on the streets, then you're not a cop. Freeze up again, and you're done. I'll call up your dad and tell him myself." I tell him then I leave him there

After I said that West comes back up to me.

"I'm sorry." West tells me

"You gonna leave me again?" I ask him

"No." He tells me

"Then we're good." I tell him then I leave to go home

The next morning in the briefing room in the morning,

"Okay, let's get to it. Officer Bradford should be getting out of intensive care today. If you have some time after your shift, I'm sure he won't appreciate it." Andersen says and we all laugh while Grey erases the white board but leaves the word "TODAY" on it.

"Today. See, every day, we start fresh, because we can't affect the past. But we damn sure can make a difference today. All right. There was a carjacking last night on Western and Wilshire. Description matches the crew we've been hunting, so we need to hunt smarter. Lopez and West, I want you to live in that RD today. So Bishop and Nolan, coordinate with the robbery table..." Grey says
