Marta got up and followed me out of the tiny cabin. It felt like we were in quite rough seas. I held my hands out against the walls to stop myself from being pushed over.
"I'm sorry for keeping things secret from you. I'm going to blame a toxic mix of virus and lack of guts" said Marta.
"But why all the boys?" I said as we walked to a ladder.
"I thought I could de-gayify myself by having enough boy sex, dumb huh?" said Marta.
"Did that work?" I said.
"Offer to go to bed with me and find out," said Marta giving me a wicked wink.
"I'll file that under no then," I said.
We climbed up into a cabin. The whole place stank of luxury. I recognized the Professor I had met in the bone yard. Through a window to the outside, I could see the face of Sam/TDM outside on the deck.
"Katelyn this is the professor. We met on the bus. He got rescued too." said Marta
"We've met. Hi Professor how are you doing?" I asked.
"Don't ask me how I am doing. Ask instead, How you intend to do what you need to do" said the Professor seriously.
I was sure if they had tested the cure on him, I would have noticed.
The cabin we had entered was richly decorated, it had blue tinted windows on all sides which looked out to sea beyond. The white leather seats looks so clean that they were practically new. I had realized I was not I kidnap victim, but if I had been this is what it will be like to be kidnapped by royalty. The seats formed a U shape the open-ended part of which led to glass doors to the deck beyond.
AÂ young good looking man in expensive looking slacks came in from the deck.
"Good morning, " said the young man offering his hand "I'm Harvey Davis the third. Don't  ask me what happened to the I keep asking my dad Harvey Davis the second about it and he says he doesn't know. Who are you? "
"I'm the ship's kidnap victim who are you?" I said.
"well, I am a business partner of Alexander's. Well when I say business partner, I mean, soon to be a business partner. I have a fantastic adventure which needs a sum of Alexander's investment money." said Harvey. "perhaps you've heard of me?"
"No," I said.
"Well I'm CEO of Leaping Magic we are the future of computing," said Harvey. Harvey waved his arms in the air. "We are going to revolutionize the way we work, communicate and play. We have created a new photonics system which revolutionizes how the world talks to your brain."
"that's nice," I said. "do you know where you are?"
"In the seed round for the investment of a life time," said Harvey.
"No, Â where are we? I mean physically " I said.
Marta came over "Oh - are coming into the port. Alexander is going to meet us at the docs. Then I think the ship is programmed to sail to Europe. Alexander is convinced that homeland defense is up to no good."
"Really? Who would have figured that." I said.
"No one," said Marta "He wanted you out of territorial waters while he got things checked out. We are sneaking into pick him up now."
"I like the way you can sneak in 142 foot yacht,eveyone" I said.
"You see your brain is like a graphics processor" continued Harvey "we cloned that to create a wholly new experience. It's like dreaming with your eyes open. It feel's so real".
I certainly felt I was hallucinating this conversation with him.
One of Alexander's ship's crews handed me a phone. I put it into speak meveryonecold hear.
"Katelyn you're up," he said.
"You kidnapped me?" I said.
"You're very difficult person to capture. I hired a team of expert mercenaries to attack the bus as you left town. You can imagine my surprise when they brought the wrong person."
"Thank you. I've never been the wrong Katyln before" said Marta.
"No offense," Alexander said "I didn't think you would fail the test."
Suddenly everything fell into place.
"It's complicated." I said "I'm victim of a sex kitten and a blank test paper... hang on. You're possessed aren't you?" I said blurting out what was now a large elephant in my mind.
"Well I guessed you were possessed the moment I met you. I'm not sure if I'm honoured or offended you didn't guess my status before now. Where are my manners ?" said Alexander  "Steward Champagne all round I think. Make sure it's chilled properly. "
"When you're too keen to celebrate you end up celebrating being too keen," said the professor,
"Why are we celebrating? " said Martha. "not that I care."
"I thought that would be obvious" Alexander began "firstly successfully stopping Katyln from being taken to the over world. And secondly and just as importantly the discovery of the cure."
"What about my mother and sister? Home land defence have got them now." I said.
"Somehow I don't believe that homeland defence actually wants a cure to be found. That's why We have to get it analysed in some of my laboratories in France." said Alexander.
We were getting close to the port now. I could see a loan figure standing strong against the wind waving at the ship in the distance. It must have been Alexander.
"Then what?" I said.
"I was hoping that you could carry on and go to Paris and find the clues that would leave you through the maze. I've decided we can't trust homeland defense. If I can get some cure made in secret, only the maze can distribute it outside over control of homeland defense." said Alexander sipping on some champagne.
"What about my mother and my sister?" I insisted.
"I am guessing that homeland defense will hold them. They don't want knowledge of the cure to get out. If we can somehow find where Overworld is and then break into the location I don't see how we could possibly find them. Let alone rescue them. If on the other hand, the cure is generally available they won't have a reason to hang on to them."
"I think I preferred you when you were stupid, " said Marta.
"Yeh, I get that a lot. I'm not evil, I am just mind numbingly ruthless in pursuit of my goals" he said. That second I was feeling a bit melty I blame the champagne other excuses are available. "I always get what I want and I really want you now Katlyn"
We were getting close now. I could almost  I look up to his grey blue eyes.
"I'm surprised you trust yourself," said Marta.
"I don't but what's the alternative ? There is a first for everything" said Alexander.
Just then I saw police and home land defense people coming up the dock. Alexander looked around.
"Quick get out of here" he shouted.
"Not without you," I said. I followed Marta on deck and got the huge hit from the smell of the sea. Marta rushed up to the captain's cabin. A man suddenly stood up when he saw us coming.
"Captain get ready to turn around," Â I said.
The people from homeland defense were running up the pier to Alexander. Alexander held his hands up to the hundreds of guns pointing at him.
"I don't know how," said the Captain "it's a self-driving ship."
Marta and I looked desperately around. "If only I had done my ship navigation badge at Brownies" Â I said. Marta looked at the screen which seemed to be central to controlling the ship.
"We are coming for you" I shouted on the phone.
"No, go, go now." Alexander said.
The ship was nearly at the pier now. It was low tide and we looked up to the pier where Alexander stood above us.
Homeland defense shouted orders to Alex to hold his hands up and not move.
"Catch" shouted Alexander down the phone.
He threw the test tube to me. It sailed through the air and I thought it would land in the water. I leaned out over the edge of the ship and grabbed it. Â I looked up. Already someone was putting a bag over Alexander's head.
"Get it to your father." said Alexander before the phone was gone.
In the cabin, Marta had figured out the autopilot.
"You have set a destination of Paris is that correct?" said the ship's sat nav.
"Yes," said Marta.
"Turn left in five yards," said the ship, and we pulled away.
I watched Alexander being pulled away by homeland secuirty. I saw them waving their guns at us but soon we were beyond range and it seemed like no time before land was gone.
