Chapter 25 - The Parselmouths

3rd Person's POV

Everyone present in the Great Hall was clearly excited to watch Harry and Draco duel against each other. It was no news for them to know that Both of them hated eachother and were the most known enemies of the school.

Harry walked bravely towards Malfoy. Y/n's words and his fellow Gryffindor friends's encouraging face were making him confident. By the corner of his eye, he saw Y/n reached Ron and Hermione and was watching him now.

"Good Luck, Potter" Lockhart said to him

"Thank you Sir" Harry replied fixing his eyes on Draco.

Both Harry and Draco made their way in between and stood in front of eachother, glares never leaving their eyes.

"Wands at the ready!" Lockhart called. Harry and Malfoy raised their wands in front of their faces.

"Scared, Potter?" Draco said smugly.

"You wish"  Harry smirked back.

"This is about to get good" Ron whispered to Y/n. She chuckled quietly

Harry and Draco shoved their wands to their right side and walked away from the between and soon reached the other two ends of the stage. They positioned themselves just like Snape did.

"On the count of three...cast your charms to disarm your opponent.  Only to disarm...we don't want any accidents here" Lockhart said warning them and begun counting

"One.....two---" Lockhart was interrupted by Malfoy, who didn't wait until he could say 'three'

"Everte Statum!" Malfoy yelled. Harry got hit by the spell that hit him so hard that he thought someone hit him with a pan. He dropped on the stage feeling the pain.  His friends looked at him worriedly, Few Slytherins were laughing. Malfoy grinned. And Harry got backed into his feet and shouted

"Rictusempra! " The end of Harry's wand glowed. A sliver light hit Malfoy in the stomach. He fell back infront of Snape. Most of the students laughed. Snape gave him a displeasing look and grabbed him by his collar helped him stand.

"I said Disarm Only!!" Lockhart shouted alarming the two of them.

"Serpensortia!!" Draco yelled. and with a flash in the end of his wand. A Long Black Snake shot out.  Many backed away from the stage. Harry watched the snake.

"Don't move, Potter. I'll get rid of it for you." Snape said walking towards him

"Allow me Professor Snape... Alarte Ascendare!!" Lockhart chanted.

There was a loud bang. Instead of disappearing the snake flew ten feet high into the air. heads and eyes followed it and saw it fell back on the stage. Now the Snake was angry. He turned to Justin Flinch-Fletchley , poisonous fangs exposed.

Harry felt a slight ease feeling. He didn't actually knew what he was doing. He unconsciously made his way towards Snake and said

"Don't hurt anyone" He didn't knew why he was talking to a snake. But he felt the snake was listening to him. But it ignored him and kept glaring at Justin

" Leave him alone!!!" Harry said to the snake again

'Harry is talking normally....that's saves some trouble' Y/n thought her eyes never leaving the snake that was raised itself in eye-to-eye level in front of Justin.

"LEAVE HIM!!!" Harry said again. The snake looked at Harry. when it did, Harry felt the fear flow out of him. Harry looked at the snake. The snake calmed down when its eyes met Harry's. Harry knew that the snake won't hurt anyone. He didn't knew why but he just knew it.

"Vipera Evanesca!" Harry heard Snape chant. Y/n felt a slight sharp pain in her stomach right where the snake got hit. Jake went closer to her.

"You okay?" He whispered to her. She nodded.

"What are you playing?" Justin shouted at Harry

"What?" Said the Kim Siblings in unison. But they were the only ones who said that.

The others were looking at Harry with scared and shocked look. Harry didn't knew why he looked at  his friends. Ron and Hermione were looking panicked. Y/n and Jake were looking confused by the situation.

Harry turned to see Lockhart and Snape. Both of them were looking at him like they were calculating the situation. Harry didn't like the glances and mutters around the hall. Harry just stepped back and left the hall.

"What is wrong with you???!!! Harry was just to trying to stop the snake from hurting you!!!!" Y/n unexpectedly yelled at Justin and started to walk away from the hall. Hermione and Ron looked at eachother with shock and intermediately followed her.

This time the crowd was more shocked. All of them stood deadpanned and watched Y/n leave the hall. Jake didn't understand why was everyone looking at Y/n with suspicious look.

"She was right...why is everyone looking at her like that??" Jake asked. Everyone's attention turned towards him. their shocked expression never leaving the face. Jake felt a tug of his sleeves.

"Harry...He wasn't speaking ......normally " Fred whispered to Jake.

"What do you mean, wasn't speaking normal---" Jake stopped himself when he understood the situation and looked at his bestfriends. Fred and George were slightly smirking.

"let's....let's go" Jake just whispered and left the hall with Fred and George. They turned to crowd

"Nothing more left!!!" Fred yelled

"Go back to your business!!" George yelled after him and three of them disappeared.

When this was happening. Harry and his friends reached the common room. When they entered Ron showered Harry with questions

"You're a Parselmouth???Why didn't you tell us??" Ron asked him

"I'm a what???" Harry asked confusedly

"You can talk to snakes" Hermione explained

"I know. I  mean I accidentally set a python on my cousin Dudley at the zoo once" Harry said and Ron's jaw dropped

"Once? But so what? I bet loads of people here can do it" Harry told them and Ron shook his head

"No, they can't. It's not a very common gift, Harry...This is bad" Hermione said to him and Y/n looked at her with confusion

"What's bad? If I hadn't told that snake not to attack Justin--" Harry got interrupted by Ron

"Oh! that's what you said to it?" Ron asked raising his eyebrow

"You were there!!! You heard me!!" Harry replied to him

"I heard you speaking Parseltongue. Snake Language" Ron told Harry

"I spoke a different language????" "He didn't speak Parseltongue!!!!" Harry and Y/n said in unison. Y/n's friends turned to her

"He didn't speak it...I heard him speak English.. Clearly!!" Y/n said desperately and Hermione looked at her with worried expression.

"You heard what he said???" Ron asked Y/n and she nodded her head "You ..really heard what he said??" Ron asked again

"Stop asking the same question, Ron!!! I swear I heard him!! Harry was telling the snake to leave Justin alone---" Y/n stopped right away when she got the idea. And looked at Ron with wide eyes

"That's right!!! You heard him say words clearly...That means you're a Parseltongue too!!!" Ron said to Y/n grabbing her by her shoulders

"I didn't even knew" Y/n whispered

"Me too...How can I speak a language without knowing I can?" Harry asked

"I don't know, Harry. but it sounded like you were egging the snake on or something" Hermione told him

"But he wasn't" Y/n shook her head. Harry looked at her.

"You're the only one who heard him.. you think they're going to believe you?" Ron asked her and Y/n went silent

"Harry, listen to me.. There's a reason the symbol of Slytherin house is a serpent. Salazar Slytherin was a Parselmouth. He could talk to snakes too" Hermione explained

"Exactly..Now the whole school's gonna think your his great-great-great-grandson or something....we don't know but there's a chance you could get framed too" Ron pointed at Y/n

"But I'm not....I can't be" Harry looked at Y/n. She was worried too.

"He lived a thousand years ago..For all we know....you could be.." Hermione said and Harry looked down.

" and Y/n.. I don't think its a possibility for you to be..because The Kim Family's got a clear record...There's no way you would be The Heir" Hermione said to her

"I know that Hermione but.....How do you know?" Y/n raised her eyebrow at her

"I was just cross-checking the ancient magic family...Your's happened to be in the list" Hermione said panicking

"Its fine, Hermione....But..me?" Y/n signed and They heard the Common Room gate open. Four of them saw Jake, Fred and George rushing inside. Jake made his way infront of Harry and Y/n. He pointed his index finger at Harry

"You...spoke...snake language??" Jake asked him huffing in between. Harry nodded and Jake turned his pointed finger at Y/n "And you heard what he said???" Y/n nodded her head right away

"Oh god!!! I thought my ears were broken" Jake plopped himself on the couch.

"You heard what I said?" Harry asked Jake taking a seat on couch in front of him.

"That's right. and now its confirmed that Y/n heard you too...So..In the conclusion" Jake sat up "All three of us are Parselmouths"

"Why are you so calm about it?? Isn't that considered as bad?" Hermione asked him surprised taking a seat alongside with Y/n

"To be honest.I figured it out...Our family had powerful rare gifts for ages.... Its normal for it to pass it down on us" Jake explained. Y/n looked at him in caution. He revealed a little about The Kim History. But Jake shook his head telling its okay

'Oh right..he did say some of the powers are known to everyone' Y/n thought and looked at  Hermione. She smiled at Y/n and Y/n smiled back sadly.

"So, Do you think that everyone's going to think that either of you is The Heir of Slytherin" Ron said worriedly

"They won't" Said Fred and George smugly. everyone turned to the twins.

"Harry gave them a demonstration...You two won't be in frame." Fred said smirking.

"It will be pointless if they think the Heir is a Kim" George said and Harry looked away.

An hour later, Most of the students were coming back. Harry didn't like the stares he was getting. He decided to leave the castle. On his way out he saw a group of Hufflepuff change their direction by just getting glance of him. He walked faster.

While the other Hogwarts students were talking,playing with their friends or either just doing their homeworks. Harry was far away from them, sitting by himself infront of the Black Lake.  He saw Hedwig fly towards him. He patted her on her head when she reached him.

He was lost in his thought. At some point he was starting to believe what if really was the Heir of Slytherin.

'No..I'm in Gryffindor' Harry thought but a voice from back of his head said

'But the Sorting hat wanted to put you into Slytherin'

Harry shook head little, hoping it will take his mind off the negative thoughts. But he couldn't do it. He looked into the deep black lake.

"Who am I, Hedwig??? What am I?" Harry asked out loud.

"You're Harry Potter"

Harry turned back to see Y/n walking towards him with small boxes in her hand and Haru flying by her side. She continued talking while walking towards him

"The Boy who lived...The one who defeated Voldemort two times without a wand... The Bravest and most kindest person I've ever seen and" She sat next to him. " My Best Friend" She opened a bigger box with cookies in it and passed it to him.

"How did you know I was here?" Harry asked her

"I don't know....just had a feeling you would be here" Y/n replied while giving treats to Haru and Hedwig. She smiled when she saw both of the owls were eating happily.

"what's bothering you?" Y/n asked shoving a cookie in Harry's mouth and eating another. Harry took a bite and replied to her

"I've been thinking....What..if I..really am the Heir of Slytherin?" Harry asked and Y/n raised her eyebrow at him

"And why do you think that?" Y/n asked to him

"I mean..just like earlier...I didn't knew I was speaking another language to that snake...what if..I'm the one..doing these attacks without me knowing" Harry said looking at the lake

"You can't be, Harry... I know you're not the doing all there...if anything I think you're the one who'll stop this and catch that Heir" Y/n smiled at him. Harry felt his heart and mind calm.

"How can you still smile??" Harry asked out loud instead of his mind. Y/n looked at him confusedly. "I-I mean...Many of the students are thinking that you could be the heir too...How are you not..depressed??" Harry asked looking at Y/n. To his surprise Y/n smiled again

"You know Harry...All this time...No one knew me.. I wasn't allowed to go out or even say my name to any strangers...My identity was bothersome for a long time..." Y/n signed, Harry was listening to her curiously.

"Now that people know who I am...It.....feels nice to be recognized..even if I get bad reputation for sometime...it'll only make the people feel guilty for doubting me for nothing.. Don't you think that Harry???When the students who are thinking that we might be 'The Heirs' will find out that we have nothing to do with all of this..won't they feel guilty?" Y/n smiled at Harry. He nodded understanding her point.

"I wanted to ask you something..for a long time...Y-you don't have to tell me if you want to" Harry said taking another cookie

"What is it??? I can answer if I know about it" Y/n replied tilting her head

"I heard from Ron..he said no one knew that you existed..why was that??? why were you hidden?? where were you hiding all this time?" Harry asked Y/n making her surprise

"Oh...I didn't think you would ask that" Y/n laughed lightly "I can tell you that....Its no harm for you to know" Y/n grinned and continued

"I was in Japan all this time..I came here just few months before our term started last year... I'll be honest... I didn't knew who Jake and Uncle Eric..They were complete stranger for me when we first met" Harry jaw dropped and Y/n chuckled

"But..you get along with them really good and they are so protective of you" Harry asked surprised

"That's true...but I bonded with them alot more than last year.. It was very awkward between us for sometime.... I didn't have family feeling for them and I know they didn't too...but they were working hard to make things easy for me so I could live peacefully..that's when I started trusting them and started feeling they were actually my family.. And the reason they are overprotective towards me is..I'm a bother" Y/n signed

"Why?" Harry asked her

"I was born few days before they died..That news was shocking enough of for everyone..I don't think anyone had time to think about me.. After their death, people kept attacking Uncle and Jake, He knew that if those people find about me..they'll try to kill me as well...so he decided to move me in Japan.. I lived as a muggle..I didn't even I was going to study magic one day.." Y/n chuckled "My world turned upside down in blink of an eye.. But it was the most wonderful thing ever happened with me...And That's how...For my safety...I was hidden.." Y/n looked at Harry

"Harry, I know you are insecure that you're the one who petrified others...but you're not...To prove that...if you want, I can stick to your side all the time"  Y/n said to Harry, he looked down

"But.. if..I'm the Heir..and for some reason..what if I hurt you?" Harry said glancing at Y/n

"You won't....I know you won't ever try to hurt me... even if you try to..I'm too strong for you to defeat me" Y/n said smugly and Harry laughed

"You're not wrong their" Harry chuckled but stopped after a few seconds

"Harry....You don't need to worry about what others think of you... Its for you to decide Who you want to be....Trust yourself and believe who you truly are " Y/n said looking into Harry's Emerald eyes. Harry smiled.

For few minutes, None of them said anything. They just looked at their pet owls flying over the lake. With different thought in their mind. Y/n kept repeating Eric's words in her mind.

'If you're going to lie...add some truth in it...It will became more believable' Eric voiced repeated in her mind.

'Even if I told a part of truth..it doesn't feel right to lie to Harry' Y/n thought. She heard Harry say something so she turned to look at him

"What?" She asked him

"I said...It..would be good...if you..stay by my side" Harry said and Y/n smiled

" I promise I will"
