146 Chapter 146 – Threat and a deal

Feng and Elle had already done with their purchases in that particular shop. Only the Duke family was still searching for an appropriate weapon for Ethan.

Ethan brought a double-edged short sword after carefully selecting. Aiden did not bother at all. He simply slept on his dad’s shoulders.

Feng had never seen him this tired before. She moved close to Ethan and tugged at his all sleeve. “Is he really okay?”

“He had a very bad motion sickness but he doesn’t show it. But that trip through that array took him out. He pukes two hours straight.”

Feng worriedly looked at Aiden “he was that sick? Why didn’t he tell me so?”

“He doesn’t want you to think he is weak.” Ethan held Feng’s hand softly. “I don’t want you to think we are weak.”

Feng slightly smacked his head. “Why would I think that? You both are brave young children. All I want for you both to have a happy childhood. You both have loving parents now, and you have people who care for you. So, you don’t have to put up a front. If you feel sick then you have to tell me. you don’t have to hide anything from me okay?”

Ethan looked at her perplexed. “I don’t want you to think of us as weak. I want you to think of us as men. I want you to depend on us and I don’t want you to think of us as children anymore. we might be 5 years old but we are an adult by heart.”

‘I have every intention of marrying you, Feng. I want to marry you when I want you to look at me and think of me as your husband. I may be a 5-year-old now but as I grow up I will become a man that you can depend on and so will my brother,’ Ethan thought as he hugged her softly in his arms.

Her soft brown hair tickled his nostrils. He softly dropped a kiss on the top of her head. “you’re such a lovely person....”

Feng softly felt Warmth on her cheeks. she slightly pulled away from the hug. “a-re you guys done here? I want to check out the market, ”

Lady Perlin who was secretly observing their conversations giggled. “you kids can go on ahead of you want. We shall only leave after we fisherman choosing a sword for Aiden.”

“They can’t go alone Perlin you know how risky that is,” lady Hiliana intervened.

“But Haily is coming with us. She is an adult. She can protect us,” Feng hopefully looked at her mother. She was quite bored being in the same store. She wanted to explore the market even more. Especially the pet market.

“I don’t know if it’s the right thing to do. Haily might be strong but there are people who are stronger than her. After what happened last time, I don’t wish to risk their lives,” lady Hiliana seemed to be aging the idea.

Feng ran up to her and held her hand. “Mom, please can we go? it will be alright. Hail will take care of us and we assure you we will not roam around anywhere unsafe. We will be always close to her so can we go.”

She was sure if she went with her mother, she will not be able to explore most of the market but if they went with Ethan and Aiden they could easily see everything that is being offered in this market.

“Pretty please,”

“Fine, I’ll allow it just this once but Haily has to stay with you please 2 steps close to you. Ethan and Aiden, you must have your guards at all times,” lady Hiliana finally gave in.

“If you’re still not a short I can join them,” Duke Lineti glanced at the kids. This was the last day they would be spending with them and he did not wish to waste even a single moment.

“Then I’m well assured.” Lady Hiliana smiled at her sister.

They stayed back in the weapons store with three of their guards.

“He really loves them.... Oh, sister how on earth did you stumble upon those three gems,” lady Perlin hugged her sister’s hand.

“It was a complete miracle to be honest,”

Even lady Hiliana did not expect to stumble upon three malnourished kids when she as on her way back home after losing everything. It was like God was giving her a gift for her suffering.

She lost a son but she gained a daughter and two wonderful nephew form that ordeal

For which she was thankful for.

“Come on lets finish our shopping here and catch up with them,”

They both walked into the weapons store.

A black figure was hidden in the corner peered at the entrance of the weapons shop and then at the five people who were walking away. He silently started to follow after the children.

That sword he had found today had the demon king asura’s blood intent. No one else would be able to feel but he could since he had the most unique powers of all. Blood lust.

Looking at his trembling hands he could still feel that sword pulsating. The blood lust on that sword was phenomenal!

He wanted to possess it! he wanted it to be his.

But a brat got a hold of it.

with one arm Duke Lineti carefully hugged Aiden who was sleeping deeply in his arm, with his other hand he kept a cautious hold on Elle’s hand.

Feng and Ethan were right in front of him with Haily and Ethan’s guard Farius by his side. They both were chatting softly and chuckling.

Looking at his happy child duke couldn’t help but smile softly.

“Uncle you are not against their union?”

Duke glanced down at Elle. “Why would I be? Feng is a kind girl. I would be happy if one of my boys ended up with her.”

“What if they both loved her? What then?” Elle hopefully looked up at him.

“It’s a taboo.... One man and one wife. That’s; how our society operates... Feng would be called scandalous and would be shunned by everyone.” The duke sighed. “that’s my worst fear.”

“but didn’t the three founding mages a pair as well. The pair of brothers loved Joane. They were lovers. The three of them.” Elle carefully trod upon that topic.

Suddenly the duke glanced down at her with his brows raised. “What did you see, Elle?”

“n-nothing, I was just asking.” Elle looked away immediately unable to withstand the pressure of her uncle’s gaze.

“So... they three end up together? Isn’t that why you are trying to test how I would feel about it,”

Elle bit her lips anxiously. She just wanted to test how the duke thought about it but she didn’t expect the man to figure it all out. She silently looked up at him. “n-no....”

“Oh, three people in love is a taboo. But they are my children. Do you think I would let society talk badly about them? I would chop off anyone’s head before they could even an utter a bad word about my son or my daughter-in-law.” He said with a cold smile on his face.

Elle gulped. “Uncle... you are scary sometime...”

“Only sometimes?”

Elle smiled and nodded. “Only sometimes. you are just a silly, uncle. I often see you casting a longing look at you sons and at our aunt. My fear for you diminished long back.”

“Your aunt has not been paying much attention to me lately.” He sighed.

Elle giggled. “Is it because of the boys?”

“Not just them. She is preoccupied with her sister as well. So, I sped up the reconstruction of your house.”

Elle gave him a dull look. “you are such a bummer. You just want us out of your house,”

“Just so I can have some alone time with my wife. No hard feelings.”

Elle rolled her eyes. “it’s okay, I guess. But if you don’t want our aunt to know of this, I want something.”

The duke suddenly let out a soft chuckle. “Are you threatening me, child?”

“Yes.”

“Do you know what happened to people who threatened me in the past?”

“Dead or mutilated?” Elle raised a brow. “you’re my uncle, you won’t do anything to me. Also, I’m not going to ask anything excessive. I believe you will be okay with the deal.”

“I’ll see what I can do about it. tell me, what do you want,” the duke lifted her up and kissed her soft cheeks.

Elle hugged his neck. “I want your healer.”

“My healer? Why?”

“He caught my eye. I want him to be mine.”

The duke had a weird look in his eyes. “You are seven years old, isn’t it too young to be thinking of men?”

“Like boiling a frog in lukewarm water, it will take some time to win his heart. So I will start out young. And by seventeen or eighteen, he would finally be under my spell.”

The duke let out a loud laugh. “Gods, you Rofles ladies really surprise me at every turn.”
