Andre's POV

I can't believe Ann introduced me as a friend to the lady she later introduced as their housemaid, nanny, whatever. We got here in less than two hours and she's ditched me already. Her introduction didn't help ease this feeling of rejection in me in the slightest.

It's like Ann is aware her parents and household don't like me and to make it less obvious, decided to introduce me as that, Ladies.

"Are my eyes deceiving me? Is it my little girl I'm seeing?" An older version of Ann got up from her seat upon seeing us, maybe Ann and not me.

"Yes mama, it's me right here." She run to hug Ann affectionately, showering her with kisses on her entire face. She surely misses her daughter. I see where Ann got her extreme beauty from, her eyes are just like her mothers and even her skin tone. Unlike her daughter, Ann's mother has a gap tooth, which I noticed when she smiled at me, finally acknowledging me.

"Hey there Andre." Have we met before? That statement almost left my mouth, had I not returned her smile. I looked over at Ann who, nodded her head at me, mouthing, she knows you, as if reading my thoughts.

She took me by surprise when she leaned into me, giving me a soothing hug. It felt so right for this moment. It gave me some kind of assurance I might be accepted for their daughter. "Hello Mrs Morrison."

"You look more handsome than the photos she sent me. I've heard so much about you." I stiffened, hearing the last words from her mouth. This is where the lashing out comes, I'm I ready to face her wrath?

She must have noticed me go rigid all at once. Mrs Morrison rubbed my arm in amusement, "don't worry son. All what I've heard about you are good things." This is where Ann also got her soothing rubbing habit, doing that to me times I'm nervous, angry or worried.

Can I be any happier? No, not yet idiot. Don't feel yourself too much. You haven't met the father. Speaking of him where's he? I haven't seen any elderly male here since we arrived. "Uh sure."

"I won't bore you two with my long talk. You can go upstairs into your rooms, we will talk more after you two get some rest." Mrs Morrison kept smiling at me and then turned to her daughter, "I'll show Andre to his room."

"Okay mum." Ann seemed to like the idea of her mother showing me to my room. She blew me a kiss, chuckling to herself. I winked at her, mouthing I love you too.

"Shall we go son? If you two are done here." I blushed and so did Ann. Mrs Morrison chuckles at our flushed faces and took my hand in hers.

Ann was behind us but stopped at a door and opened it. I notice her take a peep before entering, that must be her old room. We also went to the next door after hers, which I opened.

The room is quiet big. It's a modern luxurious room, painted in plain white. I like the room, it's my taste. Mrs Morrison caught me checking out the room, "it's one of the guest bedrooms we reserve for close families."

Close families? Does that mean she considers me one? "Uh thank you ma'am."

"Call me Mother, you're going to be my future son in-law." She nodded at me and sat down on the couch in the room, "do you know something Drey?"

"No ma'— mother." I corrected myself.

"I honestly like you. I trust my daughter enough to accept and know you're the right one for him. It's her first time falling in love and though we sometimes make the mistake in choosing wrong people to fall in love with, I think she did right in choosing you. Bertha told me about everything that happened and I want to thank you for not giving up on her. You proved yourself and your love in my eyes by fighting for your love." She paused and chuckled, "her father is the only one who isn't keen on the thought of you two back, he's going to be strict and pissed today but don't think too much into it. Beforehand, he's a dog and no bite. Be yourself if you want to get him to like you alright?"

"All clear mother." I smiled at her. So I have one of her parents on my side. Mmh things are looking better than I thought it would. It's left with Ann's father who I'm praying will be just like her mother, sweet and understanding.

"I'll take my leave of you and allow you rest. I'll see you during dinner son." She parted my shoulders and left the room.

I fell on the bed feeling happy within me. One down, one more to go.

The next day.

My eyes flickered opened, squinting my eyes, I looked around the room which was quite dark and chilly. I searched around for my phone to check the time. Where the heck is this crazy phone? Do I have to search so hard for my phone this early morning?

I got up from bed to go and switch the light on, though I don't know where the switch is. I hit my leg against a hard thing in my search for the switch. "Shit!" I bent down and rubbed the spot which hit the hard thing I can't identify. It turned out to be a couch, I with success, managed to find the switch and turned the light on, checking my leg. It was pinkish yet nothing serious.

The curtains and windows were closed. I had forgotten to open them earlier when I came. Talking about time, I found my phone on the bed, closer to its edge and unlocked it.

It's 8am in the morning. How come? Didn't I sleep an hour or two ago? I remember being left alone here by Ann's mother to rest till dinner and I managed to wake up the next day. I must have been exhausted from the flight here to sleep in.

I rummaged through the nearly packed items by Ann in my suitcase and extracted my brush, shampoo and sponge from the lot and dashed to the bathroom for a quick bath and brushed my teeth.

I got back into the room and hastily searched for a tee and sweatpants, throwing them on, I left the room. I retraced my steps from yesterday and decided to check up on Ann in hers.

She wasn't on bed like I expected. Her bed had been neatly made, the scent in her room indicated she just took her bath.

I walked out of her room and down the stairs. I successfully made my way into the dining hall where I heard voices. Ann was at the table, setting it and her parents sat around it, talking and smiling to each other. They seem to be so in love and I want my baby and I to be like that in our old age, grown and so in love even after death. Ann was the first to notice me, blushing as she took in my appearance.

"Good morning Mr and Mrs Morrison." I winked at her, making her blush more and turned my attention to her parents, particularly to her father to see if he's caught us. He wasn't sparing me a glance unlike his wife who looked at me, smiling like always.

"Good morning son, how was your sleep." Mrs Morrison asked and patted a seat next to her for me to sit on.

"It was fine, I didn't realize I slept in." I truthfully replied her.

"You looked so tired and peaceful, sleeping on the bed when I came to call you yesterday for dinner. I didn't want to disturb you and left you to sleep." Her husband, Ann's father was quiet through out our little exchange and spared me not a glance. "Ann also slept in so I figured you two were tired, here's my husband, Ann's father."

"Uh good morning sir." I nervously greeted him. He raised his head to acknowledge me with a nod of his head and went back to his plate which had nothing on it. His hostility gave way to tension, Ann looked at me then at her father, before her mum and then back at me.

"Be polite to the young man." She murmured to her husband sternly.

It was then that he looked at me, "how you Andre?"

"I'm fine sir, and you?" I didn't know what else to say.

"Good." Was all he said to me that morning. Ann and Aunt Martha brought in the breakfast, consisting of vegetable and salad with sliced bread and tea.

Ann served me my food despite my protest. With the way her father glanced at me when I told her not to and when we both were laughing at something she said made me realize the extent to which the man dislikes me.

I lost my appetite but didn't want to come off as rude so I ate the salad with no appetite. You can say I ate to impress rather than eating to gain energy.

"Any plans for today?" Mrs Morrison asked us, she seemed interested in knowing it.

"Yeah mum, I was thinking of showing him around the city today." I saw her dad scowl hearing those words from his daughter.

"Uhm no, Ann, I want to stay home with the family for today. Maybe we can go out another time." I said to Ann, her shoulders slumped at my words. Sorry babes, we will tour when your father approves of me

"Good cause my daughter here isn't a tour guide." He smirked at me and went back to eating his food. Both his wife and daughter glared at him. He brushed aside their glare, taking a piece of bread. They still glared at him, this time around he darted his eyes to his daughter and wife, "what?"

"Ann honey can you show Andre what I told you to? Her mother asked still glaring at her husband. I felt bad and guilty all at once, my presence here has caused this glaring and tension in the air.

"My pleasure mum!" Ann's reply didn't even lighten the situation. Her father scowled hard at me. "Let's go boo." She dragged far away from the reach of her fathers eyes.

We stopped at their balcony. The sky was cloudy and the air was cold and moist,it's like it wants to rain. I wish the rain could come and wash this tension and settle things.

"Don't think so much about what my father did back there boo, he hasn't gotten a round to we coming back but I assure you he will pretty soon." Ann squeezed my hand, "smile for me please."

I forced myself to smile at her. She then pecked me and turned to pointing some houses to me. My mind wasn't on what she was saying, it was on what was going on at the dining as we speak.
