I Will Avoid the Male Lead and Make a Harem
Vol. 6: I Will Become a Parvenu
Chapter 22
outstanding knights, each of whom was worth a hundred.
Cedricâs words were not wrong.
Camilla, who was wrapping her head in her hands, inquired nonchalantly.
ââ¦â¦what about the money?â
âMoney?â
âI bet the Marquis wouldnât have come to propose empty-handed.â
âThere is nothing left. Theyâve taken everything, including the horses, carriage, and weapons.â
âHa.â
Camilla exhaled a stifled sigh.
âMaybe itâs a good thingâ¦â¦?â
When Shannon inquired, Cedric returned our gaze and said.
âGet out for a while, both of you.â
âºâºâºâ¼â»â»â»
After being left alone with Camilla, Cedric was quiet for a while.
âWhatâs the matter, Cedric?â
Camilla couldnât help but notice the strange ambiance in Cedricâs eyes as he returned her gaze.
âCountess.â
When Cedric opened his mouth with struggle, the ambiance quieted down to the fullest.
âThis time, I want you to be completely honest with me.â
âWhatâ¦â¦â
âI said there was nothing left in front of the girls, but I discovered this in that gruesome scene.â
Cedric reached into the sack he had placed beneath his desk. He extracted a blood-splattered knife from there.
âI discovered this covered in corpses. Perhaps, this was left unintentionally.â
Thud!
Camilla instinctively covered her nose as the hilt of the sword thrust in front of her eyes.
No wonder she had been smelling something fishy for a whileâ¦â¦
âSo, whatâs wrong with this knife?â
âTake a close look.â
Camilla, who frowned beautifully, lifted the handle of the knife in disgust.
Andâ¦â¦
âWhat is this?â
Camilla had her eyes wide open.
The autumn maple leaves with seven outstretched leaves
A very familiar pattern was embedded in the knife.
âWhat is this doing here?â
Camilla, who had turned pale in an instant, pushed the knife away as if throwing it.
âWhy the hell is thisâ¦â¦!â
âThat is the question I have for you.â
Cedricâs eyes shone brightly.
âHow did this knife end up at the scene?â
âCedrick, I-I donât know anything. I swear to God.â
The Duke Mapleâs private soldiers stationed in the temple were underperforming.
They were teasing and ignoring the locals, and they even tried to extort money from them.
Despite Cedricâs warnings, there have been numerous unsavory incidents between the knights and the locals who went out to the square.
âDisguised as barbarian workâ¦â¦ is this something the Duke Mapleâs private soldiers do?â
âI told you I didnât know!â
Camilla screamed like a maniac.
The two looked at each other as if they were in a conflict.
Cedric eventually sighed and rose from his seat.
âAs for delivering this tragedy news to the North, you will take care of it, Countess.â
âºâºâºâ¼â»â»â»
âDid mother believe it?â
âShe canât help but believe it. âWhat can she do when the evidence is clear?â
Shannon took the knife from the temple.
She went to pray for the safe arrival of the marquis who was on his way to propose to her, so she didnât raise any suspicions, possibly because her status was evident.
âHow are you feeling?â
âShe appeared agitated.â
âIâm talking about you, uncle.â
âAh, Iâ¦â¦â
Blame to the barbarians that this was their doing, and blame to Camilla that it was Duke Mapleâs doing.
Cedric lied to both sides.
While planning this job, the thing I was most concerned about was not success or failure.
It was Cedric.
Knowing his integrity and innocent personality well, I doubted whether he could be brazen to the end.
I was truly concerned that he would succumb to shame or do everything wrong out of guilt.
But Cedric provided a different response than I had anticipated.
âI feel relieved, Selina.â
Today, he received confirmation from the barbarianâs head that they would disarm all their weapons and enter the territory.
After a long tug-of-war, it was a great accomplishment.
âIt was a good thing I took your suggestions.â
The barbarian head simply bowed to Cedric, who was enraged at his failure to manage his people.
Anyone can see that this was obviously done by barbarians.
There was no reason for Cedric to do such a thing, given that he was about to form a family with the glorious Marquis.
On the other hand, it appeared that the barbarians murdered them for monetary gain.
The evidence was that all of the Marquisâ belongings had vanished.
âIt makes no sense for Cedric to kill a great nobleman who comes to propose to his step-niece because of his wealth.â
The Cedric and Crawford families had nothing to do with the Marquisâ death.
Nobody would suspect us because there was no reason to do so.
Not the barbariansâ head.
Not even Camilla.
âAnyway, Iâm glad it all worked out. I was so nervousâ¦â¦â
âYou must have been nervous. Uncle, get some rest.â
âYeah. You did an excellent job.â
I left Cedricâs study in a pleasant mood.
Tonight, the auction price of the Movilon mine would started.
Now that I have money.
âI should go get my mine back.â
There were no variable obstacles.
Everything went exactly as planned.
