Ah, yes. Wednesday; my used-to-be favorite day of the week. The diner was pretty chill today considering it's Wednesday. Where's all the old bingo playing people?
There was at least ten people in my section so my shift was pretty short and because it was slow my tips were looking rough.
Before I clocked out I made sure to tell Catalina she was taking my section along with hers. She wasn't a big fan of that but I couldn't care less. This'll help her work on her attitude problem. These people come here to eat and have fun, not let a teenager get smart with them and call them names!
I said goodbye to all the cooks, the rest of the servers, Reggie, who was upset that I was leaving early, and lastly Lilian, who sent a wink as I grabbed my jacket.
"It's a meeting!" I told her.
"No it isn't!" She replied, "Wear the outfit I picked out and get laid, mama!"
"Good lord have mercy," I laughed.
When I arrived home the back door was open which told me JJ was in the backyard shooting hoops.
"JJ!" I called as I walked to where he was.
"What's up, Shorty?" He asked whilst throwing the basketball into the basket.
I sent him a glare and he apologized per usual.
"I'm about to get ready. Don't forget you're taking Halo to your parents' house when you pick her up."
"I still don't understand why but okay I guess." He shrugged, dribbling the ball.
"I have a meeting with Miss Black. I told you that."
"You're not a single parent, Harlow, and we all know that. We may not be together, but I'm not a deadbeat. You and I know that."
"I don't want to do this with you right now, Jason."
"Oh, so Im 'Jason' now?" He scoffed, "Go ahead and get ready for your little date. I'll take my daughter out."
As I said, I didn't want to argue with him so I didn't. I left him to get in the shower and get myself together.
I did my hair and makeup and once it was time to get dressed I was frozen. I never looked at the outfit Lilian had picked out until now. She said it was a surprise. I hate surprises!
Besides Halo. Halo was a surprise but I love my daughter with all my heart so it's okay.
But anyways I immediately texted her and told her what she did was wrong.

I had only a few more minutes before I had to get going. I really didn't want to be late so I was forced to wear the...pieces of fabric Lilian picked out. I don't even remember buying this! It had to be JJ because I would never.
I just threw a jacket over it and called it a day. I hope Miss Black doesn't think I'm a whore or something.
The drive to the location was a good forty-five minutes. When I arrived Salem was waiting in the waiting area.
"Miss Black?" I whispered.
She whipped her head around to find where her name was being called from. Once she saw me her face softened and a look of lust flashed over her eyes for a quick second.
"Harlow!," she smiled, "You look beautiful. Never knew you could dress like...that."
"Oh my goodness I didn't pick this out! Lilian did and it was too late for me to change and I-"
"I'm not complaining." She winked, cutting my rambling short.
She walked back past the receptionist's desk and led me to our table. I guess she checked in before I got here.
"Before we get started I want you to call me by my name. It's just the two of us, I think we'll be okay." She said, picking up a menu.
"Hmm," I hummed, "Well, Salem, if I didn't know any better I'd think this was a date."
"And if it is?" She asked, not bothering to look up from her menu.
I nearly choked on the air after hearing that. I of course had to pretend I wasn't bothered by her statement so I just sent her a wink and hoped she didn't notice.
"Want to take a look at the menu? The server should be back soon."
"Right."
I did exactly that. I knew what I wanted but I wanted to give off the idea that I wasn't sure so I just looked at the pictures. The server did come back asking for our drinks. I was driving so I didn't want to order anything alcoholic so I just got a strawberry lemonade. Salem on the other hand ordered a bottle of red wine.
Either it takes a lot for her to get tipsy, or she wasn't driving tonight.
"Alrighty I'll be back with your drinks in a second. Did you want any ice for your wine?" The server asked.
"I'm good, thank you." Salem answered.
"Who the hell wants ice with their wine?" I asked, once the server was gone.
"Crazy people." Salem giggled.
It was fucking majestic.
The "meeting" went rather well. We talked about Halo for a good two percent of the "meeting". The other ninety-eight was about us. I got to know her a lot better. What she was like outside of being a teacher.
She convinced me to drink a little so took a few sips from her glass. I'm a lightweight so those few sips already began to make me a little woozy. The last thing I remember was laughing at a joke Salem made on our way out the door...
Well, no, that's not the last thing I remember. The last thing I remember is getting home, kissing JJ, and having angry sex. Angry sex with JJ is great!
