She's gone. I let my mate slip through my fingers. I was stupid enough to let how people viewed her to make me reject her. She was right, this wasn't supposed to happen. She's supposed to be here in my arms safe but I bullied her and drove her away. I can't believe I was so fucking stupid!
When I got to school that day I was hit with most amazing scent of Jasmines and honey. It was making my wolf and I go crazy! When Jadah came up to me her scent hit me like a ton of bricks. She was the beautiful scent I was smelling and she happened to find me first and when she did I was openly lost in her big brown eyes.
I've always liked Jadah, she was so different from everyone else in the pack. She was shy, had good grades, and she didn't care what people thought but despite that she still cared what I thought. My words hurt her the most out of anyone's and I saw that, and I ran with it.
Her eyes were like hershey kisses with golden specks in them. She looked beautiful in that flannel dress, showing off her long legs, those nice black wedges that made her taller, and for the first time in forever she wore her hair down just for me. Her mate. I knew how long Jadah longed for her mate and it just so happened to be me.
When I said all those mean things to her I felt like my heart was being squeezed in a tight fist. Her once happy face was filled with hurt, blood, and so much sadness. It took all of my restraint not to kill everyone in that room and take her away from there.
That room. The room that will now forever be a reminder of how I contributed to her defilement. Her screams that echoed off the walls, her red puffy eyes, bloody nose, and that large crack in the wall from where her fragile body slammed against.
When I touched Kim it was disgusting, sickening, revolting and anything else that favors distaste. My wolf refuses to talk to me and I can feel him growing more, and more distant. When I hit Jadah in the face he disappeared after telling me off. I would punch myself in the face if I could for ever hitting a woman like that let along my mate.
I want to hold her, kiss her plump lips, apologize, to change the image she's painted in her head of me.
Tears started pouring from my eyes.
"Jadah I'm so sorry." I whispered to myself in defeat. When I saw how her wolf had changed her it scared me. She wasn't the sweet, and quiet Jadah like at school. She was meaner, and more badass. Her wolf's eyes were a beautiful piercing blue that made my wolf purr in appreciation that she was ours but when she said all of those things about me and the pack my wolf howled in pain. He wanted to go to her and beg for her forgiveness but my pride got in the way.
When she said she was leaving my wolf was clawing to get out and demand her to stay. Even though I said all of those things to her, and I acted nonchalant it was the exact opposite of how I felt.
The pack was following my orders, they didn't want their future Luna to go but there was no way I could stop her because we all had hurt her. We walked to her house and waited for her to come out when I saw the two duffel bags in her hands I eyed those bags wishing they would disappear. I tried to form my lips to say something, anything but there was a basketball sized lump in my throat that didn't allow me to speak, only sulk in her presence but she didn't care. She left hurt but happy to be away from us and I realized something. I need her.
I was riding in my car as my music played softly in the background while lightly tapping my fingers on the steering wheel when two girls ran out into the road. I stomped on the brakes and soon after a wolf covered in blood ran after them.
"Shift Jadah." Amaris said to me. I parked my car on the side of the road and thought of my wolf. Our beautiful white fur, blue eyes, and sharp canines. Soon I felt the mild pain of my bones breaking into place, and my clothes ripping off of my body. Before long I was in my-
"Our."Amaris cut in.
I was in OUR beautiful wolf form. We ran full speed in the direction of the two girls, and the rogue. I kept running until I heard the thuds of his paws, then they came to a stop. I followed the sound of three beating hearts until I saw the wolf backing the girls up against a huge rock.
The eldest was growling, shielding the little girl with her but she looked weak and ready to collapse. I growled before jumping in front of the two in a protective stance, I saw shock cover the rogues face before he lowered himself in a defensive position.
He pounced in my direction but I simply ran forward and clamped my jaws around his neck before I snapped his neck and blood oozed in my mouth as he went limp. I spit out his body and shook my head in hopes of getting the metallic taste of blood out of my mouth but wasn't successful. A small giggle brought my focus to the little girl with very long puffy red hair.
"Shhhh!" A voice hissed, I turned and saw the oldest girl who looked around my age with black curly hair motioning for the little girl to come to her. The little girl covered her mouth with her hands before running to her sister tripping over her feet in the process causing me to laugh or whatever sound I made when I tried to laugh in wolf form.
The little girl with red hair smiled at me missing a few teeth might I add before continuing to run to her sister. When I took the time to examine the girls they were dirty in ripped, bloodied clothing. Maybe I can help them. I mean I have clothing in my car and money.
Slowly I walked over to them so I didn't scare them, but I did because the eldest pushed the little one behind her protectively as she puffed out her chest before pulling her mouth in a tight line and taking an intimidating stance. I kept coming until I was right in front of them. The oldest was staring at me hard trying not to show her fear but failed as a tear came out of her eye before she angrily wiped it away. I lowered my body in front of them, she was stunned.
"Why aren't you killing us?" She eyed suspiciously looking me up and down, I just shook my head 'No' before shaking in hopes of telling them to come on. The little girl with red hair ran to me and hopped on my back before snuggling into my fur. The eldest was hesitant before the little one spoke.
"Come on Georgia she's nice!" She shouted. Georgia rolled her eyes before hopping on my back and stroking my fur, earning a purr from me.
"You're so soft." Georgia said laying down on my back and I couldn't help but wonder,
what happened to them?
I got up and started walking back to the road with the girls on my back.
When we got to the car I lowered myself so they could get off. They both ran over, gushing over it.
"Nice set of wheels."Georgia said walking around my car impressed.
"Nice ride. Can I drive it?" The little one asked seriously.
"Ginger you're 6."Georgia deadpanned. I had already started shifting back, Ginger was about to reply but the sound of my bones cut her off.
I opened the doors of my car and threw on a PINK sports bra, some panties, and PINK leggings. I smiled at them before speaking.
"Thanks. It was a birthday present." Ginger gave me a toothless grin.
"You're welcome. What's your name?" Ginger asked coming towards me.
"I'm Jadah, I was apart of the Silvermist pack but I left." I said with a shrug.
"Well I'm Ginger and that's my sister Georgia. We were from the DarkSky Pack but rogues came and chased us away." Ginger said tucking in her bottom lip. My face softened,
"Hush! You've said too much." Georgia snapped. "Thanks for helping us but we better go."She said pulling on Ginger.
"Why can't we stay with Jadah?" Ginger asked looking up at her sister who was dragging her down the road.
"She has better things to do and we'll just slow her down."
I tilted my head to the side,"No I don't. I was about to head into town for some food and a hotel, come with me."
"What about money? Look at us." She gestured to their worn out clothing. "We're poor." She said.
"Well I have clothing and money so we'll be okay." I assured her, Ginger smiled big before running to me and giving me a hug.
"Yes! I have another sister!" She screamed excitedly and I froze. I never had a younger sister. We can be a family of three.
"Yes you do." I said wrapping my arms around her. After our hug I stood up and walked to my car where I pulled out a Nike jumpsuit for Georgia, and a big sweatshirt and some leggings for Ginger.
"Here." I said handing them the clothing.
"Thanks Jay." Georgia said taking off the old worn out clothing she had on, disgustedly throwing it to the side before pulling on the new clothes.
"Jay?" I asked.
"Yeah I shortened Jadah to Jay." She said fixing her clothes. I dug in my bag and threw a brush her way which she happily caught.
"Oh my god thank you!" She said before running the brush through enough to put her tangled bush in a puff on her head. I'm glad she's opening up a bit and isn't so cautious around me. I turned to Ginger who was playing with the sleeves on the oversized sweatshirt.
"Okay small fry I'm g-" She cut me off before I finished.
"Hey! Im not small, or a fry!" She yelled angrily and I smiled. She's as fiery as her red hair.
"Ok, Gin." I said cautiously "Can I wipe your face?" I asked and she smiled before nodding.
"I like it! Gin." She said thoughtfully.
"Glad you do but come to my car so I can wipe this dirt off of you."I said leading her to my car. I opened the door on the drivers side and sat down, I then grabbed my water bottle and an old t-shirt of mine.
"Okay come here." I said and she came and stood between my legs. I grabbed my water bottle and poured some of the water on the t-shirt before I wiped the dirt off of her face. When I was done I went to Georgia who looked at the shirt and water bottle confusedly.
"I'm going to wipe the dirt off your face." I said.
"Oh."
I wet the t-shirt again and began to wipe all the dirt off. When I was finished with her, she gave me back my hair brush and stared at the open road with a distant look in her eyes. I walked over to Ginger who was sitting in the drivers seat turning the wheel.
"Come on Gin."I said to her and she looked up at me and smiled.
"I'm going to drive us to town."She started turning the wheel like crazy, making car sounds. I laughed before lifting her up and sitting her on my lap.
"I'm gonna brush your hair okay? Then we can go get something to eat and find somewhere to sleep. That sound like a plan?" I asked and she eagerly nodded her head before looking forward. I grabbed her hair like I was gonna put it in a ponytail, and brushed the ends so it would be easier to comb out the roots. Surprisingly she didn't cry, she just sat here humming a little tune. I reached over to the passenger side and dug in my bag for a scrunchy before putting her hair in a high ponytail on top of her head.
"Alright all done! Now go to the back seat and buckle up so we can go." I said and she happily crawled to the back and put her seat belt on. I walked out the car and saw Georgia still standing at the side of my car deep in thought.
"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked standing next to her.
She turned to face me with an apologetic look,"It's just we're taking your stuff and slowing you down, I'msorry. You can let us go, we won't be offended we're getting used to disappointment."She said looking away with a forced out chuckle.
"What are you talking about? I gave you that stuff and you're not slowing me down. I was headed to nowhere but now that I have you guys, my ride just got more interesting." I smiled at her, "I want you guys to stay with me and I always wanted younger sisters-"
"First off you're the little sister." She said and I folded my arms over my chest in a 'I don't believe you' way.
"How old are you, 15?" I asked then laughed at the look she gave me.
"No I'm 17." She said proudly and my face dropped which made her laugh.
"Oh shut up, Only by one year." I said. That was me trying to make myself feel better in this situation but, it didn't work.
"Yup but I'm still older than you." She said with a cocky smile.
"Whatever Georgie." I said and she froze.
"I know you didn't just give me that little boy name." She said in disbelief and I smirked.
"Oh but I did." I said and laughed when she stomped to the car. I walked over to the car still laughing before I hopped in the front seat.
"When we get into town we can go shopping to get us all some new clothes and shoes, then we can go eat, and find a hotel to pass out at." I said looking at them, Georgia's eyes were about to pop out of her head.
"How are we gonna pay for this?!" She asked incredulously.
"Well I told you I have money." I sang putting the key in the ignition.
"How much money do you have?" She asked and I smirked at her before pulling out my duffle bag, and throwing it on her lap. When she opened it her eyes were the size of Texas.
"Where did you get all of this from?!" She yelled making me and Ginger cover our ears.
"My-I mean Larry and Lauren are the betas of my old pack and I took some." I said with a careless attitude playing with the ends of my hair.
"Are.....Larry and Lauren your parents?" She asked and I nodded my head.
"How come you call them by their first names?" She asked softly as if she was scared that I'd spazz on her. I told her-well them about what happened. Everything from how I was bullied, to Malachi rejecting me. When I was done I felt good. Is this what having friends is supposed to feel like? Being able to confide in someone other than my diary feels good. While I was telling the story Gerogies eyes kept turning red and Ginger was growling. When I looked up at them, they were still angry.
"We will never let them hurt you again." Georgie promised with conviction before they both engulfed me in a hug. I hugged them back burying my head in their shoulders.
"Thanks guys. I wish you were in my old pack, I never had friends." I said embarrassed, when ginger spoke up.
"We are not friends we are family." She stated firmly.
"And as for Leila. If I ever see her I'm gonna punch her face and kick Lucas and Leo in the balls." She said looking off into the distance gritting her teeth. Then she looked at me with soft eyes.
"They lost out on a wonderful little sister, now we have you and we won't let you go." She said and Gin nodded. Then Gins stomach rumbled.
"Ummm can we go now?" Gin asked which made us both laugh before turning around in our seats and buckling up.
"Gin you all buckled up?" I asked looking in my mirror.
"Yup!" She said holding her thumbs up, I smiled before starting the car and driving off. As we were driving into the town I felt a wave run over my body, I looked at Georgie to see if she felt it as well and she nodded her head and was on high alert.
We were just pulling up to "Lucile's jumping Diner" After a long day of running around and we were starved. So far we've been shopping, I bought us all some new shoes and clothes. We all kept on the same outfits but we now have Jordan's to match. Since we've been in this town I've felt a deadly aura surround it Georgie, and Gin picked up on it too so we've been keeping our eyes and ears open.
"Jadah give me control." Amaris said for the first time since we left the Silvermist pack but I understood she needs time to grieve.
"Okay but let me speak." I told her and I could feel her nod. I closed my eyes and let Amaris come to the front but I was still in control. I'm just using her senses and judgement to help me. When I opened my eyes I knew they were blue because my eyesight was way better, I looked over at them and Georgie's eyes turned red but with her still in control they dulled a bit making them look mahogany. We nodded our heads at each other before putting Ginger in the middle of us and grabbing each of her hands.
We walked in and all eyes turned towards us but we simply ignored them and headed to the back. All eyes followed us especially 5 males who were squished in a booth a few feet away. We went to the back and sat down at a booth covered in red fabric and a few holes. It was your classic red, black, and white checkered theme with the waitresses in short dresses, tons of eye make-up, and the old school juke box in the corner.
"They have staring issues." Georgie sang running her eyes over the menu making me and Ginger nod in agreement.
"They looked like they were gonna eat us. Do I have red on?" Georgia asked frantically pulling on her clothes making me and Gin crack up.
"Maybe, because I could have sworn I saw drool. Granny and little red just wasn't enough for them." I said ruffling Gins hair in fake sadness, Gin swatted my hand away and Georgia laughed.
We were laughing and chatting when a tall figure loomed over our table. I looked up and wait make that 5 tall figures looming over us.
"What can we do you for big bad wolves?" I asked smiling and batting my eyelashes, Gin and Georgia tried coughing to cover up their laughs.
"What are you doing here rogues?" One with brown hair, and black eyes spat glaring at us.
"Oh we were about to get something to eat until you guys interrupted our lovely time." I finished with a sarcastic smile. Their faces remained stoic. They're pretty buff, how old are they?
"We couldn't help but crack a couple jokes, and release a few laughs here and there, but since you're here, what do you want?" Georgie asked seriously turning to face them.
"You're trespassing on dangerous territory." One with a tapered fade and blonde hair said and he had a twin too! But the other twin had blue eyes.
"Territory to whom?" I asked playing with my nails.
"The DarkKnight pack." Another said making me and Georgia snap our heads up. They all smirked like they had us scared but we were forming an escape plan. Me and Georgia looked at each other and nodded before we hopped up and kicked the guys in their nuts. They doubled over in pain, I grabbed Gingers hand and ran out, When we got to the car I went through my pockets for the keys but I left them in the diner.
"Fuck!" I yelled then the diner door was slammed open and the one with black hair who I hadn't paid any attention to smirked before dangling the keys in the air. I narrowed my eyes at him which earned me a deadly smile that chilled me to the bone.
"Amaris it's time to shift!" I yelled as the guys were approaching.
"Okay!" She said back. I then turned to Georgia whose eyes were as bright as lasers and was quickly losing control but the guys didn't seem phased one bit.
"Georgie shift!" I yelled and in no time her humongous White and Gold colored wolf was standing before me. I was awed but I shifted as well. Ginger was calm but the strangest thing was, she was calm. Then she shifted but she was a little red fox. She was growling at them as they stepped closer. They were shocked at me and Georgie's wolves and since they've never seen a fox shifter they were like statues; before they got to shift I picked up Ginger who was about to jump at one of the guys by her scruff and I took off with Georgie right behind us. I heard a herd of giant paws hitting the ground behind us and their feral growls and howls filled the air making me bristle. This made Ginger angry and she started to kick in my mouth and I was unexpectedly was tackled to the ground by a huge wolf.
I growled at him while Ginger ran out of my mouth and hopped on him, She started biting on his face making him whine in pain before shaking his head. Ginger hopped off and landed gracefully. I took that time to hop up and stand in front of her I felt something hit my back, I turned ready to strike but it was Georgie. She nodded at me before turning around to face the wolves. We were back to back, us two against five large male wolves. They circled us until a wolf with orange fur shifted and began pulling on a pair of shorts.
"Shift now!" He roared but I didn't budge. I'm not shifting in front of all of these men. I shook my head 'No' and soon big white long sleeved shirts were thrown at our faces. Ginger growled before turning around and walking behind a tree. I shifted first and pulled on the large over sized shirt after pulling my hair into a pineapple. Soon we were all dressed but Ginger still had a chip on her shoulder. Her teeth were bared and her eyes were glowing gold, so I picked her up.
"Calm down Gin, you kicked his ass." I assured rubbing her back, she nodded before laying her head on my shoulder.
"How are you a fox?" I asked intrigued, she looked up at me.
"Well my mom was a fox shifter and my daddy was a wolf." She shrugged and I nodded. That's cool.
I placed her back on the ground "You're a feisty thing. Remind me never to get on your bad side."I jived and she smiled bashfully at me. I turned to look at Georgia who was a little too calm, rolling up the sleeves on her shirt.
"Your wolf is beautiful." I said to her and she looked at me and smiled.
"Thanks, So is yours snow white." She teased, I scowled at her and she laughed. Then a booming voice came from the other side of the tree.
"Rogues out now!" It roared and by the way our bodies did what it said I knew it was the alpha. Both me and Georgia grabbed Gins hands and started walking.
She then started jumping in the air, and we started swinging her back and forth as we walked to them. Her giggles were the only thing heard in the deathly quiet forest, then before long we were in front of three huge men.
They all had tattoos, and big muscly arms, The alpha had black locks that went down to his lower back, not a gray hair in sight, and bright hazel eyes. The other man had a Brown Afro and Black eyes, and the last one had a black low cut and Blue eyes. These men were scary. I whistled out loud before whispering to Georgia.
"Geez they're meaty" I whispered keeping my eyes trained on the meaty men in front of us. Georgia and Gin coughed to hide their laughs. I looked back up and I could tell the man with brown bush was trying to hold back a smile. I raised my eyebrow at him and his stone cold facade was back, then the alpha spoke,
"Why have you trespassed on my territory?" He asked in a cold voice which scared me to no end. He was scarier than Warren.
"We were just passing through. We meant no harm." I said looking down submitting.
"Where is your pack?" He asked eyeing us. I looked up and spoke first.
"I-I ran away...My pack was abusive, and my mate disowned me and my wolf. There was nothing left for me there." I answered, the pain and disappointment still fresh. I had such high hopes when I found him, the naivety. The thought of my mate was literally what kept me earth side and all the words he said began to fill my head again and a tear slipped out. Georgia and Ginger hugged me.
"It's okay Jay. He's an asshole and if we see him again me and you can take turns stomping on his balls while Ginger punches his face." She said rubbing my back, I laughed then stopped, remembering whose presence we were in.
Ignoring our comedic break the alpha asked,"What packs are you from?"
"I was from the SilverMist pack." I said.
"And we were from the DarkSky pack but it was overrun by rogues." Georgia snarled glaring at the ground and shaking her head.
"So you girls aren't sisters?" He asked and we all shook our heads 'No' before Georgie spoke.
"Blood couldn't make us any closer." She said and I smiled.
"What are your names?" He asked,
"Im Jadah."
"I'm Georgia or Georgie to someone." Georgia said side eyeing me looking making me snicker,
"And the best one of all is me! I am Ginger or Gin, and I am 6 years old!" She said proudly holding up six little fingers making the people behind them laugh and coo. The alpha and his friends eyes softened before his face broke out into a full blown grin. Revealing his sharp white teeth.
"Aren't you precious." He said adoringly to her bending down. She smiled her big toothless grin at him and I knew he was smitten by her.
Sitting up to his full intimidating height and clearing his throat "I'm Alpha Jax of the DarkKnight pack, and here is my Beta Martin, and Gamma Levi." He said pointing to Martin who had the black hair and blue eyes, and Levi had the brown hair and black eyes.
We all nodded their way. Soon without hesitation Ginger walked up to the alpha and hugged him.
"You're nice, don't be so mean all the time." She said hugging his legs. He then asked,
"Can I pick you up?" She nodded before being lifted into the air.
"I'm sorry about that, I'll be nicer to you girls." He promised and she gave him a smile before sitting in his arms like she belonged there.
"I never do this but the obvious decision is to let you join our pack." His strict eyes stayed on us as we mulled over our decision. Georgia and I looked at each other before turning back to him.
"Why?" I asked skeptically. "For you to be the Alpha of the deadliest pack in the world you sure are welcoming us pretty easily." I stated folding my arms. I'm not about to waltz into this pack just so they can eat us.
Unamused he started, "Smart girl. Truth be told you're not a threat and if you all had any common sense or life experience as actual rogues you wouldn't have crossed our border so carelessly; Especially with the rogue population rapidly increasing. You bet your ass we're lenient on a couple of kids, but any other pack would've torn you to shreds had you done what you did today." He finished, knocking me down a few pegs, but that was the hard truth.
Clearing her throat and cutting through his skin with her eyes Gin folded her arms. He reluctantly finished,"Plus I've always wanted daughters."
Squinting her eyes and connecting the pieces Georgia chimed in without missing a beat,"Or it could be because your heart was stolen by Gin" The alpha let out a hearty chuckle while shaking Gin in his arms.
"Keen one isn't she?!" He looked at his Beta and Gamma as they all chuckled and agreed. "That is only part of the truth. All of you have stolen my heart, the way you defended each other and fought didn't leave a clue that you just met today. Loyalty is something I value very much in this pack, it isn't very common these days." He walked towards us slowly, "If you take care of each other so fiercely after barely knowing each other for a day then I know you'll take care of the pack." He said looking us in our eyes sincerely. He meant every word he said. Their pack was built off loyalty. That's how they earned that terrifying title, not because of numbers or strength indefinitely but loyalty.
"Our pack is a family and everyone needs family."He stated nodding his head stepping back.
Looking at each other, we already knew the answer, there wasn't much to consider. We walked towards them but I took it a little further and wrapped my arms around him feeling overwhelmed by emotion. Today has been one of the longest yet thrilling days of my life and after being disrespected for so long, every rock thrown at me was worth it. So worth it. To finally be met with so much kindness and sincerity from people who haven't even known me for more than a day, it's moving.
He wrapped an arm around me giving me a firm squeeze before pushing me back. He looked down at me with soft eyes as if that hug showed him every bit of pain I've ever felt. I wiped my eyes and looked at Georgie before smiling and nodding my head signaling that I was ok.
"Alright come on." He said still holding Ginger in his arms who's head was on his shoulder, she was getting tired and before long she fell asleep in his arms. She looks to him for that comfort of a father, I guess I do too. Georgia does too because she hasn't stopped smiling at his back.
"Stop staring at me Georgia."He said and her face dropped into a scowl, which made me laugh.
We continued our journey through the Forrest, I couldn't stop my smile either, I had a family now.
