Inside the black Volkswagen.
It was still and silent.
The driver sneaked glances at Sophia through the rearview mirror and shock flashed in his eyes when he saw Sophiaâs wounded face. He could not help but feel regret and pity as he drove.
Sophia looked at the driver, the man sitting at the front passenger seat, then at the lady sitting beside her. They were not strangers.
One of the men was a security guard at Dream Club, the other was Dream Clubâs young master, and the woman was Megan Zander who just left B City not long ago.
Sophia thought that she had been abducted by the bigshot, but the three of them were the last people she would have expected to see in the car.
âSophia...â It had already been nearly half an hour, yet Megan was still in shock. âSoph... Sophia is it... Is it really you?â
She gulped nervously when she said the last sentence.
After all, it was quite a shocking experience to see someone who you thought had died.
Sophia was taken by surprise at this question. She furrowed her brows and asked, âDidnât you help me because you thought I was Sophia?â
Megan gave her a wry smile, seemingly too embarrassed to reply, and so the driver helped her to explain.
âMeggie had always remembered you as a friend and she was extremely upset when she heard that you passed away. She wanted to rush back for your funeral but there was a huge snowstorm that hit G City at that time and there werenât any operating trains, and so she didnât...â
Megan tapped the driver on his shoulder awkwardly. âStop talking, why are you telling her all this?â
âOh yeah, I think Iâm straying slightly off-topic!â The driver swatted her hand away and continued, âAnyway, Meggie was terribly sad when she heard that you passed away. Seeing your disfigured appearance now reminded her of you and you seemed to be hiding from someone, and so she asked us to help get you into the car.â
Although he was a bit long-winded, it was not difficult to understand what he was trying to say.
She had âdiedâ from the car accident where she suffered severe burns. Hence, Megan could not help but feel emotional when she saw this âstrangerâ
covered with burn wounds all over and wanted to lend a hand.
To her surprise, this âstrangerâ turned out to be Sophia herself.
âThank you very much,â Sophia said solemnly.
If it was not for them, it would have been impossible for her to get away this time.
Megan quickly waved her hand casually. âYou donât need to be so courteous, itâs nothing.â
The man sitting in the front passenger seat chimed in, âHahahaha... Itâs really easy to thank Meggie. Sophia, arenât the Harris family and your family rich? Just give Meggie a few million bucks or maybe one or two shoplots and sheâll be fine!â
âCan you shut up?â Megan glared at him and turned to Sophia. âDonât listen to that nonsense, I really donât need anything.â
She could easily accept any gift from anyone else without even blinking an eye aside from Sophia because she did not want Sophia to think that she was superficial.
The two men continued chatting away until the driver finally turned the focus back on Sophia. âArenât you supposed to be dead? How are you still alive?â
Sophia did not want to answer this question. She turned around and said, âSome of the people trying to catch me are Master Harrisâ men and some of them are under orders from someone as powerful and influential as the Harris family.â
The three of them were shocked, the driver so stunned that he lost grip of the steering wheel and the car swerved slightly to the side for a moment before the driver finally came around and regained control of the car.
âDidnât Master Harris die a while ago as well? How did he get involved in this as well?â
âCome on, Master Harris dead or alive isnât exactly important, is it? The main point is that we canât afford to offend either one of them!â
âSoph... Sophia, what have you done? Why are so many people... after you?â
All of them asked their questions at the same time and their voices were almost inaudible because they were too noisy.
Instead of answering their questions, Sophia merely said, âIf youâre scared, you can just stop the car somewhere hidden and let me down.â
She did not have a close bond with them and they were already nice enough to help her earlier.
As soon as she said this, it was almost pin-drop silence in the car as none of them uttered a word.
Sophia assumed that they were indeed frightened. She licked her dry lips and said, âJust stop the car at the intersection in front and Iâll get off.â
âUhm...â Megan hesitated for a while before she said, âWhy donât the two of you get out of the car and lend me the car for a bit.â
Then, she proceeded to retrieve her card from her purse and said, âMy passcode is 888888, thereâs about twenty thousand in my bank account. Just take the money and think of it as the payment for this car.â
âD*mn it Meggie, why should I take your money?â
âMax, I donât know about you but Iâm not getting down! I thought my life would be boring as heck but I never imagined I would encounter such an exciting experience in my life!â
âPlease, you can get off yourself! The car behind is catching up! Alright everybody, hold on tight, Iâm stepping on the pedal!â
The two of them turned down the offer with zero hesitation.
The opportunity for them to reach the sky was presented right before their eyes right then, and when would they ever get such an opportunity again in the future?
The car accelerated suddenly and Sophia quickly held on tightly. âThank you.â
Although the wounds on her body had torn open and the numbing pain was getting intolerable, she gritted her teeth and did not make a sound.
âYouâre welcome! Just remember us if all goes well!â The driver said quickly as he glanced at the rearview mirror. âOh sh*t, this car isnât good enough, I donât think we can outrun those cars behind us!â
The cars behind them were getting closer and closer, and the cars seemed as if they were just about to overtake them.
Megan was shaking as well, and although she was beginning to regret her decision moments ago, she knew it was too late to go back on her words.
âI... Iâll call the police now...â
âNo!â Sophia immediately stopped her. âYou canât call the police.â
âIf we donât call the police and just rely on ourselves, we canât... we canât help you!â Megan was regretting her decision more and more as she stared at the cars closing in on them.
Why did she think it was a good idea to help Sophia again?
âDid you notice that the police cars tagging behind are already left far behind now? Do you think the police officers are just weak?â Sophia asked.
Megan instantly paled. âA-a-are you saying that the person whoâs trying to kidnap you can control the police?â
Sophia nodded. She could tell that Megan was frightened. âIf youâre regretting your decision now, just let me down in front.â
Megan was even more hesitant now that she had said this.
Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around!
ï¤Chapter 473 You Laid A Finger On My Woman âNo... Weâre not!â To Meganâs dismay, the driver gave her no room to back away. âRunning away like this isnât a plan! Sophia, can you ask someone for help?â
âOkay, give me your phone.â
At this point, it was impossible for her not to expose herself anymore. If she got caught by Master Harris or the bigshot, she would only add more trouble to Charles.
The man sitting in the passenger seat quickly handed her his phone.
