Sophia frowned and opened her mouth several times, but no words came out. Although Master Harris was harsh with his words, he was only speaking the truth.
The two of them fell silent.
Master Harris covered his mouth with a handkerchief and coughed a few times as the doctors and nurses quickly rushed up to him, some to examine him and some to get him medicine.
Finally, Sophia broke the silence. âCharles hasnât been taking care of himself and heâs still drinking all day. If he goes on like this, heâll just wear out his body. Do you have any ideas on how to get him to pick himself up and pay attention to his health?â
âIf he dies, someone else will just take over Harris Corporation, and honestly, Iâm sure the company would be in better hands. I canât wait for him to die, and you expect me to ask him to take care of himself?â Master Harris handed his blood-stained handkerchief to someone standing beside him and shouted angrily.
Sophia looked up at him with an indifferent look in her eyes. âPlease mind your tone.â
âWhat? Did I say anything wrong?â Master Harris replied with a scoff.
Sophia pursed her lips and clenched her fists tightly, not bothering to even conceal the loathing in her eyes. âYouâre the only one who deserves to die.â
This man was the cause of all of Charlesâ hardships and pain, so how could he still have the audacity to give sarcastic remarks?
As soon as she spoke, the room fell into pin-drop silence.
Although Master Harris was no longer the chairman of Harris Corporation, nobody dared to oppose him even after he faked his death.
âWhat did you say?â Master Harrisâ face flared red in rage as the words came out of his mouth spitefully.
âI said youâre the one who deserves to die,â Sophia repeated calmly, âI couldnât care less what happens to the Harris family, but Iâm concerned about Charles. If you continue to put your foot in your mouth, donât blame me if I spread the news that youâre still alive.â
Master Harris had made plenty of enemies over the years. Even though he was not exactly powerless like the average joe, he did not have as much power and influence as before.
If word went out that he was still alive, he would suffer.
âAre you threatening me?â Disbelief was written all across Master Harrisâ face. âDo you think Iâm afraid of you?â
Sophia replied, âIf youâre not scared, you wouldnât have searched me out to work together this time, but someone of more influence. However, you didnât, and thatâs because you donât have any friends. Youâre worried that the people you reach out for help might turn against you and betray you.â
âIn fact, you donât even dare to ask your own children for help because youâre worried that they might turn around and try to kill you because of how you upset them in the past.â
How big of an idiot did he think her to be?
Master Harrisâ expression darkened as a dark shadow cast upon his face. He was utterly speechless, but there was nothing he could say. She was right.
âApologize to Charles,â Sophia said softly.
Master Harris furrowed her brows. âHeâs not here now, Iâll apologize to him when everythingâs settled.â
Would he even remember this once everything blew over?
âApologize now!â Sophia said determinedly, âOtherwise, Iâll spread the word that youâre still alive. Itâs up to you. Also, donât even try to kill me. My friend knows where I am, and besides, I have a video of you in hand thatâs good enough to expose you.â
She had not told Victor that Master Harris was still alive, but she handed him a video recording before she came to see Master Harris today and told him that if anything happened to her, he had to upload the video to the internet.
Master Harris was fuming with rage at the hand she dealt him, but he was more concerned about word getting out that he was still alive, and so he gritted his teeth and mumbled an apology for Charles to the air.
Then only did Sophia calm down. âCan you think of any way to let Charles be more mindful about his health?â
âOf course!â Master Harris was still annoyed and he replied angrily, âAs long as you tell him who you are and tell him the tip, all the Harris familyâs and Charlesâ problems will be resolved. Just that this is a bigger risk for you because the bigshot might find out and kill you!â
Clearly, this solution was not feasible.
Not only would Sophiaâs safety be at risk, but she might be captured and used to threaten Charles.
She frowned immediately, but just a she was about to speak, someone knocked on the door.
The two bodyguards quickly hurried forward and brought Master Harris into the bathroom, and as the bathroom door closed behind them, the door opened and Victor came in.
âDr. Leonard?â Victor raised a brow when he saw Dr. Leonard from the oncology department.
Dr. Leonard greeted him with a strange expression, and just as he was contemplating how to explain what he was doing here, Sophia spoke first, âThank you, Dr. Leonard, you can go now.â
â... Yes.â Dr. Leonard paused for a second before he led the nurses out of the room.
However, the bodyguards remained in the room.
Dr. Hemingway glanced at them, then at the bloodstains on the ground, rather thoughtfully.
âIâm sorry, there are some things I canât tell you, Dr. Hemingway.â Sophia did not want to lie to him, but she could not tell him the truth either.
Knowing too much would not be good for him.
Victor could not help but be curious, but since he did not want to elaborate, he did not press her either. âI heard from your attending that you went out a few days ago, is that right?â
Sophia knew that he did not like it when his patients went against doctorâs orders, but after hesitating for a slight moment, she nodded.
âDo you know what are the consequences?â Although there was not much change in Victorâs expression, his eyes dimmed and it was evident that he was upset.
Sophia lowered her head and replied, âYes.â
If she was lucky, she would get off with just a slight fever; in a worst-case scenario, her wounds would get infected and she might... die.
Victor lowered his gaze on her and said nothing.
Although she had not known them for a very long time, friendships were just like relationships, the duration you spent together did not define how strong your bond was.
Victor looked away as he continued in a gentle tone, âYou donât have to apologize to me, youâre the one bearing all the risks of getting hurt and dying.
Your decision has nothing to do with me.â
With this, Sophia was certain that he was indeed upset at her.
However, she did not know how to apologize to him. Was she supposed to tell him that she would take care of herself and not joke around with her health?
Though, she knew this was not a promise she could keep, so instead of making empty promises, she was better off not saying anything.
âIs there anything more important than your own life?â Victor broke the silence and there was a hint of anger in his tone when he spoke.
âYes,â Sophia replied.
Charles had given up so many things for her. She did not have the wealth he had, but the least she could do was to risk her life to love him.
Silence.
âDr. Hemingway, I...â
Sophiaâs voice shook when she spoke, but before she even said anything, Victor interrupted her right away. âYou donât have to say anything else.â
Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around!
ï¤Chapter 466 Charles Didnât Even See Her From a selfish point of view, he could not be bothered by what happened to Harris Corporation and Mr. Harris, but if he had to choose whether the Harris family or Sophia to suffer from harm, he would pray that Sophia would come out safe and unharmed.
